“We initially tried to come here on a Friday at 7 PM but there seemed to be a long wait so we decided to check it out on a Wednesday and we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. This location was originally a Taco Bell, but I love the atmosphere there, friendly, good service and comforting food! It's a cozy place perfect for a cold wintry day to have your own little boiling hot pot of tasty broth and hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Hubby ordered the Lau Pork Bone Marrow and I had the Lau Oxtail. I ordered the Oxtail without the tripe, just more oxtail! The hot pot came out boiling with oxtail and beef balls. All I had to do was cook the egg noodles, taro, tofu, cabbage, veggies into the soup as there was plenty of delicious oxtail and meat balls in the delicious broth! Great for a bone chilling night! Next time I'd love to try the shaken beef!“

“Great variety of tasty dishes on the menu and the food was delicious! I loved the “secret” specials - you need to ask to find out what they are. Fun cocktail options. And, all of the dessert options were awesome! My fav was the cheeseburger - YUM! I would definitely go back!“

“We visited Alameda in April to attend a celebration of life for a family member that we lost suddenly. Our family was in town from all over the country, and we found Cafe Jolie Petit near our hotel. They took such great care of us, fed us meals on three or four consecutive days, and we could not have asked for better service or food during an emotional time. Pastries (Koiugn Amann!), Monte Cristo, and the coffee bar were our favorites, but everything we had was delicious. We hope to be back for happier circumstances at some point, and definitely will return!“

“Judging by its name you can't really tell what kind of Chinese food Ark Chinese restaurant offers. I think it was probably a noodle restaurant focusing on items from northern China. However it seems that the new owners have hired a cook that can also make Cantonese dishes. As a result the menu is more extensive and there are quite a few selections to choose from.
We ordered the pan fried green onion pancake, hand pulled beef noodle soup, tomato beef chow mein, beef stew noodles and sweet sour ribs. All were fairly good but I should note that the flavors were quite intense...as in too much salt or too much sugar. If you do pay a visit, keep that in mind. You may want to tell them to cut back on the salt and spices.
More importantly the prices are quite reasonable for a restaurant on Park Street in Alameda. Entrees, dinner items, generally run around 15 dollars or so.
The decor is ho-hum but the dining room is certainly quiet....perhaps too quiet , or maybe we were there too early. They could use some flowers or some paintings to liven up the place. Maybe play some K pop or something. The wait staff are friendly and helpful though.
if you're looking for an inexpensive place to eat before you see a movie or just in the area, give Ark Chinese restaurant a try. The food might assault your taste buds but the prices won't assault your wallet.“

“I love this restaurant! I eat here regularly and I'm never disappointed. The service is amazing. Staff are so sweet and attentive, and they always accept changes to dishes for allergies or taste preferences. My dad is celiac and can eat practically everything on the menu here--huge range of gluten free options. I'm vegan and there are also so many delicious dishes I can eat, including their vegan al pastor street tacos (which are to die for) and huevos rancheros. They always accommodate my no dairy preference, even when I order online for takeout. Canasta Kitchen also has outdoor seating, which is so nice when the sun is out. I highly recommend this restaurant.“

“I've come here two time so far, and I'll tell you this one of the better sandwich shops in Alameda. Located on Webster, this sandwich shop is well decorated, clean, and has a large open space. Very calm environment as well. The hospitality is top notch; the employees are kind and are always asking you how the food was, etc. The sandwiches themselves, are so delicious with spreads, fresh and full of ingredients, just one sandwich order can feed 2 people. They make sure to make your stomach full and your heart happy. Will be coming again!“

“Exceptional all around. A more elegant menu than most restaurants in the area. The people seem to enjoy working there, so the service is friendly and accommodating in an unobtrusive way. The food quality and menu selection is excellent. If the weather is decent, try the patio! We did and it lent a casual elegance to the evening.“

“Delicious. Prices for the amount of food served were incredible. They have virtually no dessert. Not a place to satisfy a sweet tooth. I was more than I. Pressed with our main server in every way. Every other interaction with staff was delightful. I tipped 30%.“

“First time here and probably last time too. I hella liked how the inside was decorated reminded me of a restaurant in Japan. Kinda disappointed though. I hella love sushi. But the sushi selection was small. Nothing caught my eye. The only thing I did enjoy with my meal was the ikura. The waitress’s don’t even check up on you to see how your doing. We we’re seated all the way in the back. I asked for more water and it never came. And for those 2 reasons I won’t come back.“

“The food and service were great. Fast, kind, and delicious. The interior space is definitely not a 5 atar dining experience. But for a place to sit and eat breakfast, it was fine. The selection was good, and the pastries were clearly made fresh. They did a great job making the food and drinks we ordered. Would definitely go back again.
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly breakfast options. Donuts, bagels, cinnamon rolls, etc.“

“Very solid noodle spot in Alameda. The chicken wonton/noodle soup was flavorful/kid friendly, and we enjoyed the Taiwan beef noodle soup, zhajiang noodles, garlic cucumber salad and spicy wontons. I liked the chewy thick-cut “sharpened” noodles. I believe they have bbq skewers at dinner (we stopped in for lunch). We’re excited to try other noodle dishes and the Taiwanese braised pork & rice when we return!“
“Faction Brewing is a wonderful, local brewery! On a perfect day, enjoy a beer or cider on their patio overlooking the San Francisco Bay and city skyline. Catch it on a gloomier day and you can still enjoy a crafted beverage in their large indoor spaces. We host our annual donation drive here in the spring and the staff is always so fantastic. Highly recommend Faction Brewing!“

“Great location and selection of food and the selection is expanding from what I hear! Kid friendly and a great place to have birthday parties, happy hours, or for any reason. Indoor and outdoor seating options (dog friendly outdoors). They also have lots of TVs for MMA, European, Cricket, and all sports fanatics, inclusive of Baseball, Basketball, and Football! VJ’s also has a FULL COCKTAIL BAR! Great beer selection as well! The owner and his staff are all great. Come by and check out VJ’s! It’s next to the UPS Store at Marina Village.“

“My Mother and I enjoy eating here periodically. She loves their thick, Belgian waffles while I usually opt for the sausage only or sausage and mushroom omelet with tater tots. I cannot eat the entire omelet so I take half of it home for breakfast the next day. Service is quick and friendly and prices are reasonable. A nice, low-key gem in Alameda.“

“Tasty bagels—good texture and you can tell they were freshly baked. Their breakfast bagel sandwiches are the perfect way to start a weekend morning. One of the best bagels I’ve had in the Bay Area. The service is great as well and they are always so friendly. Highly recommend!“
“There was such creativity in how the cocktails were compiled, and I really enjoyed getting to nerd out with the bartender, Daniel, who was amazing, and who answered all of my questions about various things distilling and Chemistry. The spirits themselves, at least the ones we got to try, were so cool, unique, and complex (I have never really been into vodkas, for example, but the Green Chile Vodka made a drink that tasted like I was smelling a lush tomato plant... it was wild, and delicious). I want to try everything they have, getting a bottle and just experimenting to see what I can do. I should say, I also asked another employee (Spencer) a question about the distilling room, and he was really friendly and helpful too.
We did have an issue toward the end of our stay, where we felt rushed out right at 6pm, but a distillery rep has helped reassure me that how we were communicated with should not happen again in future visits, and that no visitor should ever feel rushed out. I appreciate the level of communication from the distillery rep, and her responsiveness to our experience.
We look forward to going back, especially once the cocktail menu is switched up, so we can try out some of their other creative inventions!“

“I had a blast chatting with the workers here everyone was super friendly and had great vibes, which made the whole experience even better. The food was really good. Turns out they use a special marinated rice for their sushi, and wow, it makes a big difference. The flavors were spot on, and the fish was incredibly fresh like, melt-in-your-mouth fresh. You can tell they care about quality. 10/10 would absolutely come back again.“

“This place is hands down my favorite Chinese spot in Alameda. The owner and employees are friendly. The entrees are delicious and made quickly and the vegetables are always super fresh and plentiful! You get a lot of food for the price, so it's a great option to feed multiple people or if my partner and I order 2 (or sometimes three) entrees, we have several servings of leftovers to enjoy the next day. Love the place!“

“Was looking for a place to eat on my birthday new years day, my stepbro picked it out, he said he ate there 20 yrs ago, I was reluctant as it looked outdated and empty, but I was surprised when the food came in quickly, the staff was friendly and the plates of food were huge! I kept asking my bro if he accidentally ordered family size, nope. We ordered egg rolls, 1 order must have had 10 pieces! Delicious spare ribs, wonton soup, honey walnut prawns (jumbo!) Mongolian beef, they gave us almond cookies instead of fortune, that was a nice change, there was so much food leftover to take home, I'll be going back, I don't know how they can afford to give so much for so little $, very reasonable.the only thing was the place was so cold, we were both freezing. no heat!“

“Tasty vegan burrito with tofu and vegetables, generous portions, comes with chips. The burrito does leak a bit due to the tofu and pico de gallo, so you should eat it over a plate and have a fork ready.
Also thank you for having vegan options!! ? Especially within walking distance of the research park - made my day. Will definitely come back!
Vegetarian options: Clearly labeled vegan items

“I never leave reviews for spots but this place is such an underhyped gem of Alameda. The chicken is amazing and juicy, their slaw is perfectly crunchy and acidic, and their fries are fried to perfection. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS SPOT!!!! One thing to note is that this is a to go resturaunt but thats not a problem just go to a nearby park and enjoy your delicious food!!“
