“We came here for a family dinner with a party of eight and ordered both king crab and geoduck. The seafood was impressively fresh and the portions generous. The king crab was flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the geoduck sashimi was clean, crunchy, and refreshing.
Service was attentive and efficient throughout the meal, and for the quality of seafood, the pricing was very reasonable. Great experience overall — would definitely return for another celebration or large gathering.“

“As someone from Guangdong, there’s a special kind of feeling when it comes to having morning dim sum.
This morning, I made a point to visit a well-known, long-established dim sum restaurant here in Los Angeles. Before 10 a.m., the place was already packed—grandpas and grandmas gathered around the tables, sipping tea. That familiar scene brought me a quiet sense of comfort. After all, the true food lovers always arrive early.
Walking in, you’re greeted by a spacious, bright dining hall. The big LED screen and live seafood tanks give the place a bold, lively feel.
As soon as we sat down, a server handed us the classic paper dim sum card. But what made me smile most? They still have dim sum carts! The auntie pushed her cart around, calling out: “Freshly baked pineapple buns~ Har gow, siu mai, BBQ pork buns~”
In that moment, I felt like I’d been transported back to my childhood—weekend mornings at a tea house in Guangzhou with my parents.
You pick your dim sum right from the cart, and they stamp your card on the spot. It’s simple, personal, and full of warmth.
Compared to today’s “contactless” QR code ordering, this style feels more like a cozy little gathering. Even just chatting with the staff feels heartwarming.
The dim sum here is fresh and the flavors are spot-on—many dishes still carry that traditional Hong Kong-style touch.
It’s the perfect spot for family and friends to gather, sip tea, and catch up. Honestly, this is what happiness looks like.
🫖 Little tips:
From Monday to Friday, there’s a 10% discount during morning dim sum hours—a great excuse to slow down and enjoy a peaceful weekday.
Plus, both the Rowland Heights and Alhambra locations are now offering summer specials like the “Abalone Trio” and “Lucky Seafood Trio” all day long—no need to rush in early to enjoy the good stuff!“
“Had the shrimp vermicelli shanghai style noodles, which I highly recommend. The service was good, the food is yummy and inexpensive. We dined in. The restaurant is non-descript and they accept cash only, so just be prepared! Perfect Chinese food!“

“My wife and I popped in MJ Valley Restaurant on. Weekday for lunch, a popular Chinese restaurant with a curious name and a long line to match. Their lunch specials are incredibly affordable, with over 100 dishes under $13. My personal favorite is the fried whole fish — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside — and the stir-fried string beans with minced pork, a comforting classic done right.
The wait was about 30 minutes, and while service was fast, it wasn’t especially friendly — pretty typical of many traditional Chinese spots. This location has changed hands several times, but hopefully, this version will last. It’s not a huge place, but it seats about 100 and delivers great value for the price. A satisfying reminder that even in a simple meal, there’s grace to be found.“

“It's old school hole in the wall and I used to eat here 40 years ago. The food is the same... So good. Gai lan with garlic sauce, Chow fun and chicken with black bean sauce. It was so so good just like I remember. When you walk in you can smell the authenticity. Cash only like 40 years ago.“

“This place has an unassuming storefront vibe from the street, but when you walk in it just keeps un folding. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is great and the servings large. I will definately be recomending this place to all if my friends!“

“It's more like a new-style morning tea. The environment is pretty good and the dishes are pretty good. The service is very good. The roasted duck on the copper plate is okay. The skin is thin and crispy. The meat is very tender. The baked rice with seafood is in white sauce and has almost no taste. It's average. The black gold quicksand buns taste like the ones I bought in the supermarket. The mangosteen beef balls are almost as delicious as the barbecued pork rice rolls with mushrooms added in them.“

“I was riding my bike from DTLA to Riverside one hot afternoon in August and I needed a bike friendly place with an authentic Hong Kong vibe.
Hong Kong Cafe turned out to be exactly what I was looking for.
I had the HK style coffee + milk tea on ice with an order of Ovaltine French toast as a bite.
It hit the spot, and the price was comparable to what you'd pay for the same product at a similar restaurant in Hong Kong city.
Would definitely recommend it and go again.“

“Great place to have breakfast - the amount of food for the price seems unbeatable! We went on a Tuesday, and there was plenty of seating. My group of four got Breakfast Specials A (with Beef Congee, Dark Soy Sauce Chow Mein, and Steamed Rice Noodle w/ House Special Sauce) and Breakfast Specials D with Beef Brisket Rice Noodle Roll. We had leftovers to take home.
My group really enjoyed the Steamed Rice Noodle w/ House Special Sauce. They wished the rice noodle roll would be able to absorb the beef sauce better. I enjoyed the beef congee - it's nothing special but it hits my comfort food zone.
I like how we add our own condense milk for HK Milk Tea to adjust to desired sweetness level.“

“do not let the casual exterior of this building fool you - they're serious about food here. came on a Saturday night and it was packed, but they managed to seat us almost immediately! win. we ordered their lobster supreme, roasted duck, and some scrambled eggs with shrimp. rice and soup came with the meal. the lobster? fresh. delicious. chopped for easy eating ( true lobster monsters know how difficult it can be to eat this crustacean when it is improperly prepared! ) duck? delicious and toasty and very flavorful. and the scrambled egg and shrimp is a good, not too salty, meal balancer. very fluffy and soft. the tea they served was also brewed very well, very fragrant and none of the burnt taste. 10/10 would visit again and maybe try some of the other special meals (I gotta come back for the garlic crab)
edit: they have a complimentary little mango pudding for us 🥹“

“We ordered the eggplant, water spinach (kangkong), steamed sole fish, pork chop in Peking sauce, wanton/beef brisket and noodles in soup, and kungpao chicken. It was all so delicious, the portions are generous, and service is fast & pleasant. There were 4 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Highly recommended.“

“This is a newly opened restaurant, so the environment inside the store is very clean and the furniture looks new. There are not too many choices on the menu. The Hainanese Chicken Rice is very tasty, but the chicken is slightly less umami. The Bamboo Shoots and Chicken Soup Noodles have a sweet soup base, which is worth a try.“

“Wow one of the strongest standing Hong Kong western restaurants in SGV! I have been to this restaurant a few times as a child and it's still going despite Great Recession and COVID pandemic! Last time I came, it brought back a lot of childhood memories and the food was still amazing! Will come back in the future!“

“This wonton is probably the best in the Los Angeles area. It tastes really good, but the pork inside is too rough and there are chunks of fat that haven't been shredded. The shrimps are very green, and there are three or four shrimps.
The dry-fried beef he made has a first-class taste, and the pot is strong, but the beef is not very tender without the pulp. Highly recommended place to try.“

“A new store has opened here! Now it’s Cantonese food + Malatang. The rice rolls look great and taste good. The addition of chopped peanuts is interesting and the portion is not small, but the soy sauce is not very interesting. The spicy hotpot is super delicious, the soup base is very fragrant, and the ingredients are very tasty. I recommend that it be a little spicy.“
