“Sichuan dishes with real numbing heat—mapo tofu and toothpick lamb are standouts. Servers will warn you about spice levels if you ask. Interior is simple and clean. Good for groups willing to share plates. Parking in the plaza can be chaotic at dinner“

“Known for Hainan chicken rice, and it lives up to the hype without feeling “scene-y.” The garlic chili sauce is addicting. Seating is tight, so be ready to wait a few minutes. Staff is efficient and kind. Still feels like a neighborhood staple“

“We came here for a family dinner with a party of eight and ordered both king crab and geoduck. The seafood was impressively fresh and the portions generous. The king crab was flavorful and perfectly cooked, while the geoduck sashimi was clean, crunchy, and refreshing.
Service was attentive and efficient throughout the meal, and for the quality of seafood, the pricing was very reasonable. Great experience overall — would definitely return for another celebration or large gathering.“

“I’ve come here many times—it’s one of my favorite restaurants. The beef noodle soup is my go-to, but honestly, it’s hard to pick a favorite because everything is delicious.
Highly recommend the dumplings—they’re handmade, and you can even buy them frozen at a great price. The server reminds me of my aunties, and the food tastes like grandma made it. It’s like a cozy Sunday at mom’s, and she just brought out the menudo.
I also love that the music stays true to the culture. They play Mandarin songs, not some watered-down English playlist. It makes the whole experience feel authentic—like I’ve been invited into someone’s home. I’m always happy here. 🥰“
“Delicious and unique food from a region of China we hadn’t experienced before. The owner and staff are friendly and thoughtful. They accommodated our large group and made us feel really at home. The Miao sour soup fish fillets and velvet mushroom dry pot, as well as the pork with clamshell buns, were particularly outstanding.“

“Food was ok but the Portuguese Egg Tart, is worth repeat orders! Thats the menu item that I’m giving that extra star to rate froyo ✨ 💫 Will add this to my rotation of to-go for groups. Secret favorite… I typically pick up Porto’s Chicken Empanadas and Potato Balls with spicy beef but this is a great alternative depending on proximity or commute route 🏎️
Highly recommend you order in advance and do it through their preferred app, chowbus. I tried to call and also walked in but person working as a cook and handles the counter does not speak English.
I didn’t notice the QR codes placed on each table but fortunately had a nice English-speaking patron help me order. To streamline, I asked her to order the best sellers. The restaurant was completely out of cha siu so here’s what I ended up with:
Claypot with sausage and cured meat.
Claypot with Chicken, mushrooms, and spare ribs.
Two variations of the chicken soup with ginseng and emperors herbs.
And of course, a box of Portuguese Egg Tarts.
In terms of atmosphere, they went for a traditional interior design… see photos below.“

“A good spot for some authentic congee and noodles, just like in Asia.
My Seafood Congee had a generous portion of seafood and the rice-water ratio was on point. It just needs the Chinese Doughnut to complement the dish.
Service is minimal and perfunctory. The open kitchen lets you see how your food is prepared. The feeling when I walked in was just like going back to the vintage restaurants in Asia. You're here for the good food, not service or decor.“

“This is a very popular restaurant. There are a lot of Chinese and Western food on the menu. I visited it for the first time today. The taste is better than expected, and the portion is unexpectedly large. The frozen lemon tea has a good taste, and the service is also good. Diligent and overall performance is highly recommended!“
“I love this place! My boyfriend and I were getting boba and the smell is what brought us in! Thank god for that smell of their amazing red oil looking sauce they give with meat. The workers were so kind and helped us! I used a translator to help us communicate and he gave us everything we hoped to try. It was soooooo good! We have loved every single item we have tried!“

“I love that you can choose your preferred type of noodles. I had the pork kidney, which was surprisingly clean-tasting with no smell at all, and super tender. The shrimp in the shrimp soup was big and juicy. I also loved the little sauce bar on the side, especially the pickled chili. So flavorful, and everything was super affordable. Definitely coming back!“
“We come every time we visit my mother in law in Alhambra. My son who is 17 craves for the beef noodle soup. Tender beef that melts in your mouth, with homemade ramen type noodles. You can choose your noodles also. One of the few places that has plume juice. My wife loves it. Not much atmosphere, but service is quick and food is excellent“
“Impressive looks from the outside, very trendy and upscale. Inside is quite nice with great vibe and the grand showcase was the bar and TVs with sport. Very nice and big. Plenty of seating and 2 private rooms if you want privacy or big party. The venue has it own parking lot and it has a lot of spaces, plus there is/are street parking nearby with both paid and not pay. Service is friendly and nice but can be slow sometimes since our waitress was covering about 7-8 table with party of 4+. We’re the least of them all, only 3 people. Menu was easy and with plenty of choices from cold to hot dishes, from varies of meats to veggies and seafoods plus desserts. But once you order, it takes awhile for each dish to come…our 1st dish took about 15-18mins then 5-8mins for next dish. For some reason, our beef chow fun took about 30mins to it to arrived. By then, we’re almost done with others…we tasted and have it to go. Also, I asked for chilli sauce to one of the helper, she told that I have to ask our waitress, which was taking order from 3 differ tables. By the time she came by, I requested plus ordered another cocktail, then she went on to take order to another table. Then 6mins later, I got the chilli. Foods wise, not bad at all, the frog legs while delish but doesn’t taste any lemongrass at all. The eggplants are quite unique and quite enjoyable. The chow fun and the sweet & sour pork are good and just nothing special about it. The drinks are the best from my pov. All meal was about $135 w/o tip total. Worth it? Somewhat, but I’m sure there are other dishes will be a delightful. Will come back if we’re in the area to give it another try.“

“We arrived at this restaurant for a meeting. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was very nice. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we felt fantastic. The food was just great. We loved this restaurant very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. we highly recommend this place.“
“We ordered the signature beef hotpot set, the oyster pancake, a pork claypot, and a soup noodle. The beef cuts and the pork meatballs are unique. They all tasted great and didn't suffer from a dreaded common occurrence where every dish tasted the same, like it's made from one sauce. Service was pretty good too. Price wasn't too bad, $115 before tip for those said items. As far as I know, this is the only place that serve this style of beef hot pot (one reviewer said otherwise). Place is kinda small so i can see waiting maybe an issue, the Parking space is right just for the amount of tables they have.“

“Best Cantonese food with Western dishes also available, as served in many Cafe style restaurants around.
Their lemmon iced tea is the best. Only Tasty Garden before had a similar lemmon iced tea, and that's why I love it here(my favorite drink)“

“I'm from Guangzhou. This is the most authentic place I have ever been. Not most authentic in US but also most authentic when I'm still in China but out of my home time. Me and the friend who introduced me here are literally almost crying when tasting the food that sent us right back home. I have been there three days in a row since discovered it. I have never been so impressed by a restaurant.“

“Came here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. And ordering was very easy since you do it through a QR code but you can also ask for a menu and order that way as well. Food came within 10 to 15 minutes and everything was very hot and fresh. The meat pies were really hot and filled with yummy juices. The scallion pancakes were very very yummy. I highly recommend getting the cucumbers. Service was decent but don't be expecting conversations from these ladies. They bring you your food and that's about it. I can't wait to come back and the prices are so worth it.“

“We had a large party and they were able to accommodate us. The food was delicious! The best salt and pepper pork chops and string beans I've had. The steamed flounder was also very good, and so was the whole catfish with garlic sauce. We got 12 or 13 dishes, and these were definitely the faves of the group. It's an older building, but we went for the food, so it didn't bother us. 100% recommend!“

“My wife and I popped in MJ Valley Restaurant on. Weekday for lunch, a popular Chinese restaurant with a curious name and a long line to match. Their lunch specials are incredibly affordable, with over 100 dishes under $13. My personal favorite is the fried whole fish — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside — and the stir-fried string beans with minced pork, a comforting classic done right.
The wait was about 30 minutes, and while service was fast, it wasn’t especially friendly — pretty typical of many traditional Chinese spots. This location has changed hands several times, but hopefully, this version will last. It’s not a huge place, but it seats about 100 and delivers great value for the price. A satisfying reminder that even in a simple meal, there’s grace to be found.“

“Finally, there’s a good Sichuan restaurant understands that the authentic Sichuan food is not about flaming hot. It’s actually about its numbing feelings and aromatic flavors of different chilies. Well, I give 4 stars because the wait was too long and I almost left. I will pay a visit when you have plenty of time to spend there and if you don’t mind waiting for good food“

“It's old school hole in the wall and I used to eat here 40 years ago. The food is the same... So good. Gai lan with garlic sauce, Chow fun and chicken with black bean sauce. It was so so good just like I remember. When you walk in you can smell the authenticity. Cash only like 40 years ago.“

“First time at Dong Nguyen. I can tell this small business has catered the local community for years and is a welcoming favorite amongst customers that return to support them. Their items 1) Hainan chicken 2) Cornish hen with tomato rice 3) beef cube with tomato rice. We opted for two of the beef cube with tomato rice dishes. Each meal came with a veggie broth on the side and a large portion of tomato rice and beef. The beef was on the chewier side but I think was a nice cut. The tomato rice has bits of eggs folded in but was on the wetter side. There was also a salt and lemon on the side as a dipping sauce if wanted an even bolder flavor. Overall, it was filling and a large portion. I can see why it's been around for so many years. Note they are cash only.“

“Tried this place during a lunch business trip. I ordered the beef with rice noodle bowl, it was very good and super filling. Not too salty at all. We also ordered a beef rice roll, you roll them yourself. The lettuce had some old parts but there was plenty so it's fine. Overall the portions are very reasonable and the beef was good, not much fat. I'd definitely come here again if in the area.“
