“**Authentic Shanghai flavors are surprisingly hard to find in Southern California, but this is one restaurant I keep coming back to. Since its days at Fullerton Plaza, it has built a loyal following, and even after relocating to Rowland Heights, the quality and flavors remain as good as ever.**

This visit was all about classic Shanghai dishes, and every one of them delivered.

The **pork soup dumplings (xiaolongbao)** are a must-order. Served piping hot, the wrappers are thin yet resilient enough to hold the rich broth inside. Take a small bite, sip the flavorful soup, then enjoy the tender pork filling—absolutely satisfying. The true test of a great xiaolongbao is the soup, and this place has maintained remarkable consistency for over a decade.

First-time visitors should not miss the restaurant’s signature **giant crab roe soup dumpling**. About the size of your palm, it makes quite an impression when it arrives at the table. A straw is provided so you can first savor the abundant crab-infused broth before enjoying the delicate wrapper and filling. Rich, savory, and interactive, it's both delicious and fun.

The **Yulan fried rice cake** is a classic Shanghai snack. Its glutinous rice exterior is fried to a beautiful golden crisp while remaining pleasantly chewy inside. Filled with juicy seasoned pork, it strikes a wonderful balance between sweet and savory flavors. The more you chew, the more its distinctive aroma unfolds—a nostalgic taste of old Shanghai.

The **Wuxi-style spare ribs** were another highlight. Slow-braised until incredibly tender, the meat falls off the bone with ease. The sweet-savory sauce fully penetrates the ribs, creating the signature Jiangnan flavor that keeps you reaching for another piece.

The **stuffed gluten puffs with pork** brought back childhood memories. The gluten absorbs the savory braising sauce, becoming soft and springy, while the hearty pork filling inside adds satisfying texture and flavor. Every bite feels comforting and familiar.

The **shepherd’s purse dumplings** have remained consistently excellent over the years. The shepherd’s purse is fragrant and fresh, paired with just the right amount of pork filling. Flavorful yet never greasy, it’s the kind of comforting homemade dish that never disappoints.

To finish, we ordered a bowl of **sweet rice wine soup with glutinous rice balls**. The fermented rice aroma is delicate and balanced, while the rice balls are soft and chewy without being overly sweet.

Keeping a restaurant open for more than a decade is no easy feat. What’s even more impressive is its commitment to preserving the familiar flavors of Shanghai all these years later. From soup dumplings to traditional Shanghainese specialties, from Yulan cakes to shepherd’s purse dumplings, every dish reflects genuine care and craftsmanship.

“Been coming here for years. Their tostada servings are always generous. Their rice and beans are great. Tostada mixta is my go to but I also was craving the mojarra as you can see. Everything tasted great. Small place, and the decor is very dated. But the food makes up for it. Good for to-go orders too.”

“FRIDAY FOOD REVIEW...GOLDEN PANDA BUFFET (again)...5/30/25! We hadn't been to the Golden Panda Buffet, located at 1825 Madera Rd, in Simi Valley, in several years, so it was time to go back! They have a huge selection of Japanese, Chinese, and Mongolian food for your dining pleasure, plus there are also different soups, salads, fruits, and of course desserts and ice creams! We both tried a variety of it all, and for a buffet, it's really good!! It's definitely a locals favorite...get there early!!”

They're meats are the juiciest, leanest and utterly brimming with flavor. the tortillas ar homemade! and theyre BIG. they are NOT the small street tacos. my favorite meats are birriera de res and carnitas. I've also had the burrito banado with birriera de res and salsa Rojo. it too was heavenly and huge. they are a full service butcher too so its very convenient. their place is so clean and the staff are very friendly, efficient and attentive. I always get a slice of flan to go. its one of my favorites too. the menu is extensive with everything from land to ocean. you will love it.”

“very Americanized pho chain restaurant, but still overall good tasting food. I ordered #3 pho (steak and brisket I believe) and egg rolls. lots of meat and broth in the pho. my one gripe is that the pickled veg included with the egg rolls were cut very thick almost like matchsticks, not thin shreds like I typically find. it made the eating experience a little clumsy but good flavor and lots of filling inside.”

Like it’s always 10 out of 10 that’s why I’m giving it a four but today… apr 12… The Matcha was like watered down and not that sweet and the Boba was not cooked all the way through…. I had the egg plant sandwich's lunch special and salad, very good. The owner/waiter and wife were very nice and friendly, everyone that was there were return customers and very familiar with restaurant, it had family atmosphere. The only thing that drew me back was its dark colors, the room needs a little lighter color. The chief lived in Italy and Paris where he learn to cook, I thought it was very interesting because originally he is from El Salvador so that’s where he gets his Latin infusion. I highly recommend their Super California Burrito which can feed up to 2-4 people and costs about $16. You are also given a fair amount of salsas upon request. The dining area is pretty small.”

Taco Bell would cost you twice as much for frozen fast food with tons of fat and cholesterol.The hard working and caring staff at Micheladas makes the food fresh with quality you can see as they are making it.And as an added bonus,if you’re into Karaoke, the owners will entertain you as you eat their awesome Mexican dishes.
