“Interesting variety of bread (they offer slicing service), delicious array of pastries and cakes.
What I go for annually is their panettone. The make their own and it varieties slightly from year to year with what’s available. One year they had Buddha’s hand citrus included in it. It is pricey but for the quality and once a year splurge.“

“Staff was well-versed on the vegan menu and were very helpful. I would definitely come back again and try the other vegan options! We had the vegan grandma and the Caesar salad and both were good. Be sure to ask the host for a vegan menu! Update- went back to try the NY vegan - staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We tried the Beet and Chicory salad. We liked the Caesar better but the NY pizza better than the grandma! Updated from previous review on 2024-03-27“

“A solid NY pie in Oakland. Sauce is just right in richness and amount. Crust is thin, no flop, slightly sweet and chewy like NY. $25 for all large is pretty standard nowadays for a quality pizza and that’s what you get here. I took it to go, and the interior looks like a quaint little place for cozy eating.“

“We had the best brunch experience ever today! The lemon ricotta pancakes along with the cheesy potatoes were delish! We sat outside on their darling little patio and listened to live music, it was so lovely. But the best part of all was the outstanding service from Maxine, her suggestions were on point and her beautiful energy was exactly what our morning needed! Will definitely be back!“

“What a great find. We were in Berkeley for a show and booked this place by just looking up reviews and by proximity. The service and food was phenomenal. We had a very tasty wine, a gem salad, gluten free pizza and a dessert. It was the best gluten free pizza I've ever had. I can't wait to go back.“

“Pizza is delicious, ordered achari style paneer pizza, was balanced in all respects. Also ordered Manchurian style soya chaap (plant based wings). These were sooooo good!!!! They were filling and had extremely balanced sauce, not overly sweet and had perfect amnt of sauteed vegetables as part of wing sauce. Super good.. Loved it.... Staff is friendly too, and Nate in particular was a kind person, thanks!“

“Atmosphere, outside patio and live music is great. The pizza, although very fresh, isn't very appetizing the next day. In fact, it's getting very stale even when attempting to warm up. If you buy pizza here, be sure to eat everything the same day. Also, the green sauce was great too.“

“Three. One Four Pizzeria is a gem. Their happy hour deals are unbeatable, and the hospitality is second to none. The pizza is outstanding, with the table-side cacio e pepe—prepared in a wheel of pecorino romano—being an absolute must-try. For an added layer of intrigue, ask Owner Brandon Wilson about the riddle behind the restaurant’s name. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish.“

“Carne pizza is highly recommended! Zachery’s special was ok. We ordered thin pizza and Happened to add anchovies, whole pizza became so so salty that we could barely eat. So be careful with toppings. But we finished the entire carne, it was so so good.“

“The pizza 🍕 Here is the best. First stop when I get to Berkeley is Artichoke Basille’s pizza. If I won the lottery my private plane would fly me to there just to eat the Alfredo artichoke pizza.“

“North Beach Pizza has the best GF pizza in the bay area. It's even better than my homemade GF pizza, and you can't beat the service. North Beach Pizza is great for family dinners with gluten free pizza and salads.“

“Pizza isn't the most filling for me, but I'm also a runner so I need more calories than most others. However, I love the pasta so much! I normally go with eggplant parmesan, which is excellent, but I also sometimes go with fettucini alfredo (had it last night; excellent for carb loading for a long run the next day). You can't go wrong there!“

“Best NY pizza I have had anywhere outside of NY. OMG I reaaaally wish they’d open a location or pop-up in East Oakland (maybe Laurel, Diamond, Montclair or Piedmont, etc.)! They’d make everyone here so happy!“

“I was exhausted from work and treated myself to my favorite chicken wings and also their chocolate chip cookie. Total pleasure! They gave me 15 wings (the order was only 12), so, with homemade salad, I will have three dinners!!! Delivery was really fast, everything was hot, and the person who delivered was very sweet. I will absolutely order again!!! Wings and cookies delicious!!!“
“I LOVE this pizza. Knuckle head flavor is my favorite (sausage, red onion, mushrooms). A lot of meat eaters and vegetarians love and prefer their Margherita. It's a thin pizza, similar to New York, I hear. Love their crust. Quality ingredients. Eat it fast as it cools down quickly. Careful with the first slice as the crust is very thin and the toppings can slide off. I love that we can enjoy beverages at Fieldwork and enjoy Citizen Pizza at the tables. I prefer their knucklehead, but my partner prefers Margherita. So, what to do? No worries! Depending on which you pick, you can get these two flavors, one flavor on each half of the pizza - half and half. They'll just charge you for the pricier costing one.
Vegetarian options: Margherita pizza, shishito peppers, popcorn, vegan pizza“

“This is a solid American style pizza place. It's not a NVPN attesta certified healthy blah blah place (i like those, but not always). They just had really good pizza with a good choice of toppings. Friendly service with a feel of the old authentic 80s pizza hut. Ingredients were freshly made and pizza was straight from the oven. Kids loved it, we loved it.“

“What an interesting concept…. It amounts to a self serve credit card for beer. Great variety, pour a taste, try another…….what fun! The staff was quite lovely, attentive as well. The menu includes all manner of options although I went for the beer. The pizza was very tasty, aromatic, so two thumbs for the ‘za but can’t say much more than that for food. Atmosphere was dark, club-like, so not the place for bright and airy (but we’re talking beer drinking here so….. who cares!)“

“My experience at Passione Caffè in their gorgeous two-story, well-decorated café at 91 Shattuck Square was simply marvelous. The staff was friendly, quick, and accommodating and the food, drinks, and desserts were delicious! I highly recommend Passione Caffè to those looking for a quick and yummy lunch (or breakfast/brunch everyday), to snack and study, or for an authentic Italian coffee. Don’t miss out on the great happy hour/aperativo deals between 4-7PM! It almost goes without mentioning, but Passione Caffè is absolutely true to its slogan: “A corner of Italy in Berkeley.” From the food and drink to the atmosphere and the service, this is the only truly Italian café I have found in Berkeley! And that comes from over a year of experience living and traveling in Italy! Besides the beautiful architecture and interior design of Passione Caffè—not to mention its convenient location next to Downtown Berkeley BART—I would like to point out some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, their only Americanized dish, is to die for! The pizzas also are also made with home-made dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meats and cheeses round out the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling lunch for $7-15, which is definitely reasonably priced by Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the artisanal gelato, made in-house by the Italian co-owner, Eleanora Cercatore. There are 12 flavors, weekly made with gluten-free options, that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The gelato is spectacularly tasty—I cannot recommend it highly enough! For your time, money, and fine Italian bites and drinks, I cannot recommend a Berkeley café more highly than Passione Caffè! Please pay them a visit soon—you won’t be disappointed!“
“Top shelf experience!!! Amazing food that will make u drool like a salivating puppy. Ive had the flat bread pizza and the tacos and they were AMAZIN!!!! Every time the chef brings out a plate of food, I look over telling myself I’m ordering that next time. As far as the drinks…. Literally anything and everything can be crafted. Leaving you well hydrated and feeling better than ever. Though Jesse (bartender) is originally from Pennsylvania , he’s adopted the love for bay area sports and makes sure games are always played on the TV’s. Nice comfy lounge seating to make u feel right at home. Such a great place to take someone on a date, catch up with old friends, or meet new friends.“

“Ordered the cheeseteak and alfredo pasta. The entrees alone were already a 5/5 with the taste and presentation.
Then dessert.
I wanted to try the vanilla bean bar, but they had replaced it with caramel bar and ice cream.
Disappointing but I do like caramel too.
I bit into it, died, and ascended.
That dessert was a 10/5.“
“This is a To-Go lunch spot adjacent to the Oceanview Diner. It's basically an entire separate restaurant with a different kitchen. I work on Fourth Street, and this my go-to place for lunch. I used to do Market Hall, but the food here is better and the prices are better, pretty reasonable for the bay. You can get a satisfying meal for ~$10 and a good snack for $5. They do a few things really well. All the prepared dishes from the glass case I've tried have been great. Some staples include lentils & feta, chicken salad, potato salad, and there's always a daily special that's been tasty every time I've tried it. You can also combo the mixed greens salad (+ tomatoes, pickled red onion, and dressing) with one of the prepared dishes, which makes for a light and fresh lunch. The middle eastern combo (hummus, greens, pita, dolmas, veggies) is a lot of food and a good deal; the empanadas are great for a snack, and you get some fresh homemade chimichurri with them. The "burrito" is kind of funny (you get two little burritos) but it's cheap and tasty. Tuna toast is a good snack as well. Last but not least, the baked goods are bomb. As I understand it, they have a few different bakers who come in and contribute to the pastry case. All the cookies and cakes I've had have been delicious. The lemon pistachio shortbread, brown sugar shortbread, lemon cake all transport me to a childhood I didn't know I had. All in all, the output of this place is truly impressive. There are so many different little elements to the lunch offerings, and everything appears to be homemade, even the pickles! I don't know how they manage it and run a full-on diner next door, but I'm grateful for it. It's got a locals-only vibe and can be pretty hectic at the lunch rush, but that shouldn't deter you. Also, you don't necessarily have to take it "to-go"; there's two high tops inside and some seating out front.“
