“Quickly becoming my favorite chocolates! We first tried these as a gift item at work holiday party, but *surprise* these were actually really really good chocolates! “Each time I eat at Mariposa I'm reminded how much I enjoy it and what a special “secret “ it is in Beverly Hills. All the other best restaurants tend to be so loud and hurried but at Mariposa it's a very pleasant experience, the food is delicious, the staff are Neiman Marcus level great and I always want to return sooner. “My wife and I recently stayed at the Beverly Wilshire for two nights during a long weekend trip to the LA area, and we really enjoyed our stay. This hotel is an iconic spot in Beverly Hills, with a long and storied history and a perfect location for seeing the area. We received a great upgrade to a suite, which made our stay even more special and comfortable, and our interactions with staff were great. There was a small billing hiccup after our stay that left a slightly negative taste, but it got resolved, so I would absolutely return to and recommend this hotel. Trip Planning: As we always do when booking a Four Seasons, we reserved through a Preferred Partner travel agent, which enabled us to get free perks (I highly recommend doing this). For no extra cost, our reservation included priority early check-in, a room upgrade based on availability, a one-time $100 hotel credit, and a breakfast credit each morning of $90, which could be used in the restaurant or for room service. The travel agent we worked with was even able to confirm a double room upgrade in advance of our arrival, which was a pleasant surprise, especially since upgrades are often not confirmed until check-in. I also appreciated that her contact at the hotel really seemed to want to make sure we got the best room possible for our needs. We had booked a Signature Balcony Room, so a double upgrade was to a Rodeo View Studio Suite. The hotel explained that the upgrade would take away our balcony, but we could keep the balcony and have more of a panoramic view of the Hollywood Hills (which they thought we might prefer), if we did a single upgrade to a BW Studio Suite instead. We agreed to that, and they assured us they would block us into one of their best rooms in that category. We ultimately got upgraded even further, but the room we had was spot-on for what was promised location and view-wise. Arrival: It can be slightly confusing to find the entrance when arriving for the first time. A lot of GPS apps will lead you to the recognizable hotel entrance on Wilshire Boulevard, which isn’t actually the main entrance for hotel guests when parking a car. There is a valet at the Wilshire entrance, and it’s a good spot to be dropped off in an Uber, but the main entrance for hotel parking is in a larger porte cochere between the two towers of the hotel, accessed off of a side street (El Camino Drive). Upon arrival at the correct spot, I was immediately greeted by Florian on the valet team, who was there during much of our stay and provided good service throughout. He welcomed me to the hotel and assisted with my luggage, assuring me that the luggage would be brought up to our room immediately if the room was ready, or as soon as possible later in the day when a room became available. I went to the front desk to check-in, and was assisted by a very friendly and professional front desk clerk. She provided a warm welcome and gave me the good news that our room was ready (before noon), and that it had been upgraded further to a one-bedroom suite, all of which was great to hear. She also provided an overview of the extra credits that were included in our room rate and how to use them. It was a great check-in experience, with the only thing missing being that there wasn’t any sort of welcome beverage offered, which is typically at least water, if not champagne, at Four Seasons hotels. After check-in, the hotel also did a great job of coordinating things to get me settled into my room. I found my way to my room and a very friendly bellman was at my room within 2 minutes after to deliver my luggage and assist with getting settled. I also appreciated that within 10 minutes after that, I received a phone call from the hotel’s Guest Experience Manager, welcoming me to the hotel and apologizing for not having been present at check-in to welcome me. It was nice to have the extra welcome and to know that there was someone I could reach out to if we had any problems. The buffalo chix wrap is delicious, great proportion of ingredients and great flavor, tortilla is nice, thin, and well charred. Weekend mornings it is bustling. “We used to stand in line for velvet ropes and bad decisions. Now we stand in line for single-origin enlightenment whisked to 175 degrees. Los Angeles you magnificent, confused creature. You’ve traded the nightclub for the café queue and somehow convinced yourself it’s growth.

La La Land cafe in Beverly Hills is peak modern LA. All soft light and curated nonchalance. A room designed less for drinking matcha and more for being seen drinking matcha. It’s beautiful. Immaculate, even. You half expect a stylist to adjust your sleeve before you take your first sip.

Now listen, I love a matcha latte as much as the swarm of athleisure-clad influencers orbiting the place. But matcha, in its purest form, was never meant to drown in milk like some green afterthought. So when I see on the menu: “HIGHEST LEVEL MATCHA LATTE ON EARTH,” I feel a disturbance in the force. Fine. Let’s dance.

But here’s the rub, latte is the only option. No straight matcha. No quiet bowl of green reverence. Just foam and dairy, Mugatu’s bane. I ask for one as intended, the latte, and one simply as matcha. This request lands like I’ve asked for a vinyl record at a Tesla dealership. Confusion. Debate. A manager appears. The matcha gods deliberate.

Mercifully, they allow it.

We wait as the drink factory hums and hisses. Finally, the moment. I sip the pure matcha first.

“Kore ikeru.”

It’s excellent. Deep, vegetal, slightly sweet, alive. The kind of matcha that makes you forgive a city for charging $9 to park.

Then, the latte.

It tastes like… a matcha latte.

Good, yes. Pleasant. Comforting. But the matcha, that glorious, nuanced green powder, is no longer the star. It’s backup vocals. You could’ve used the dusty remnants from a long-forgotten tin in the back of a kitchen cabinet and no one would’ve noticed. The milk takes the spotlight. The sugar softens the edges. The ceremony is gone.

Why, La La Land? If you’re going to source something this good, let it stand on its own two feet! Serve it the way it was meant to be served: whisked, unapologetic, maybe even a little bitter.

And whatever you do, don’t you dare call it a “Matcha Americano.”“

From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the trendy yet cozy atmosphere. The stylish space exudes a unique charm that sets it apart from other coffee shops.

I ordered a latte, which was expertly crafted and absolutely delicious. My wife tried the oat draft latte for the first time and was instantly smitten. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular. The quality of their coffee is truly outstanding.

What truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and quick, making us feel welcome and valued as customers.

The overall ambiance of La Colombe is something special. It strikes the perfect balance between trendy and comfortable, making it an ideal spot for both quick coffee runs and longer, leisurely visits. I’m fascinated by how La Colombe has its servers stationed right in the heart of the shop, where they work diligently to prepare coffee. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this place is a must-visit.

“Due to living in the neighborhood we received a coupon for a free loaf of bread. We decided to go and get breakfast this morning with the pups. The restaurant was small but there was enough space to order and get what we needed. We sat outside with the dogs and our food came right away. I got the breakfast burrito and was pleasantly surprised. It was really good and hot! I wish there was a little bit of music playing outside to set the vibe but overall I was really impressed and will be back! Thank you!“
