However, I would recommend this place more for meat eaters. Although there are several vegetarian options, the vegetarian dish that we ordered was average. In the flip side, the beef based dishes are all outstanding!“

“I had the pleasure of visiting Cali BBQ while staying in the area. There wasn't a wait to be seated which was nice. My server was very polite, attentive and helpful. When I visit a bbq place for the first time I usually try their brisket. If you can't do great brisket then you should just close up shop. Cali's brisket was easily one of the best briskets I have ever had. Tender with a smoke that was on point. I had the sandwich but if I am ever lucky enough to get back to Spring Valley my plan is to order the plate. I chose Mac &Cheese as a side and it was very nicely done. Such excellent food!! I liked that I could sit and watch one of the TVs if I wanted to but ignoring them was possible too. The vibe was very inviting and comfortable. I look forward to visiting again!“

“Took a wrong turn on the freeway and that lead us to this place. We had been wanting to come in and took this as a sign. We went for the two meat meal- brisket and pork ribs with bbq beans and cole slaw. Delicious!! Brisket was fork tender and full of flavor, pork ribs were seasoned perfectly and just right. The baked beans and slaw were just as good. We liked that they let you put your own sauce on. The tables have their house made sauces, bbq and a bbq mustard. Both fantastic! They have beef ribs but only on Sundays, so we’ll need a return trip( oh darn!) Definitely have some new fans here. Oh and worth noting, we got one meal which was plenty for the two of us.“

“Every time we’ve gone, the food is good. They also have a good choice of craft beers on hand rotating. The service can be either really good or really bad. They have forgotten about us and left us waiting for a check for 40 minutes. I ordered a hamburger with two slices of cheese, when they served it the hamburger only had one slice. I asked the waitress if she could just take it back and add another slice of cheese. I am more than happy to pay for it. She blew a huffing sound, shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes and said whatever and walked away with the plate. When she brought it back, she sat the plate down and said, “Do you have enough cheese now”. My wife and I have actually enjoyed going to this place, but that waitress has turned me off for a while for sure.“

“Overall, this La Mesa location it’s not too bad. It’s pretty good. The barbecue beef again. This is a college area and yet this one in La Mesa beats the one located in La Jolla so something‘s going on over in the expensive area where they’re cheating the value or the quality where you have El Cajon and now here in La Mesa much better quality service is pretty good in the atmosphere. It’s it’s giving me that Hawaiian vibe a little bit so watch out expensive living areas you gotta pick up your game and stop being cheap.“

“This was our go-to spot before the game and it didn’t disappoint. Super fun atmosphere with interactive games to play with friends, and the sliders were actually really good. Tons of TVs so you don’t miss any of the action. The best part for me was the open rooftop — gave it that outdoor feel without having to deal with the heat. Great vibes all around!“

“I stop here every time I’m in San Diego to see Chris and Chris (my favorite bartenders) and get my bbq and BS fix. The bbq is on-point for KC style bbq. I know because I grew up in KC. But before you walk in here, maybe you should ask yourself a few questions in order to spare this amazing place future weird reviews:

Am I afraid of bras? Will my life be diminished by reading a few irreverent bumper stickers? Am I put off by people who are unapologetically authentic? Do I prefer whitewashed, soulless, corporate places? If your answer to these questions is “No” then you won’t regret stopping here. If ya do stop, give Chris and Chris high fives and hugs for me!“

“I have nothing but sweet words about this place. I am a tourist here and have tried another Nigerian restaurant that was not much to write home about. I ordered ogbona and egusi for myself and hubby and it tasted like home food.
The portions were big too and we could have shared a soup instead of buying two meals.
Customer service was good though the setup does not encourage physical contact. A sweet young boy came out to inform us that our order was being prepared.

Ordering was easy via the kiosk in the waiting room and wait was not too long.

Worthy to note is that there are multiple food places in the same place and they each have their ordering kiosk. You Order & pay online or via the kiosk and your food is brought out to you.

Food is a bit pricey but worth it. Will return again but hope I can get my chinchin this time.“

“First of all, the moment we walk in, the layout and environment was beautiful and astonishing. The Buddha statue is cool and the painting was also pretty. Also there was a DJ which makes it even better. Anyways service was great and although they do charge for water which I’ve never seen before, the food was amazing. The sushi rolls and fried rice was delicious and the rest was great too. I would come back but would probably just try to not drink too much water.“

“La Barbacoa Autentica de Borrego is a spot that specializes in delicious meats affordably sold by the kilo, served ready to be stuffed into high-quality tortillas. Antojitos such as quesadillas, tacos, and tlacoyos are also offered. What you want to order, however, is the Lamb Mixiote, a bone-in lamb roast that has been lovingly braised until it becomes wobbly and spoon-tender. As with the aforementioned consomé, the meat and its brown juices are rich, flavorful, and bear enough muskiness to let you know you're eating lamb, but not so much as to overwhelm you with funk.The Barbacoa de Borrego (Mexican lamb barbecue) is the house specialty and it too has that feel of jiggly, sweaty meat, but leaner and more concentrated -- more lamb-y. “Hanu is my go to AYCE Korean BBQ spot. I've tried a few in San Diego and something about this place keeps me coming right back. I recently stopped in the Friday before Valentine's day to treat my wife and daughters to a nice dinner. This was their first experience with a meal like this and it definitely was an experience they haven't stopped talked about. To start off, there was about a 5-7 minute wait around 6pm which worked out perfectly. Our server Anthony went above and beyond without even knowing it. He along with every other staff member working that night was on point. Within a few minutes I had started cooking our first round of meat. Everything from the sides to all the different types of meat we got were amazing. Anytime I asked for anything whether it was another fork, another side or round of meat for the table, Anthony was on top of it. I had to get his attention before leaving and thank him for truly giving us an amazing dining experience. I would absolutely recommend coming here anytime you're in the mood for some BBQ.“

“Had a burger here to try it out and it was delicious indeed. The meat is really soft and tender. Has really good flavor. The bun also has a very good flavour and looks/tastes gourmet but the price is not bad.

Love how you can walk up and order quickly. They also have a few beers on tap!!

“I read the reviews for this place and I was curious to try it, being Mexican, I’ve never been too impressed by tacos in San Diego, there are good tacos but there’s always something better down south.

I am not someone that picks a place for the atmosphere, I go places for their food, if the atmosphere is good I might stay longer but if the food’s good I’ll come back.

Which is the case with this place, the food is so good that I would travel back from mexico just to eat their ribeye tacos.

I’ve read about people complaining about the atmosphere here, there are too used to fast food joints, this is how a real taqueria feels like, it’s rustic, not sterile, there’s ash from the charcoal flying and landing in the furniture out back, loud music, informal service. If you can’t deal with that, go get yourself some fast food instead, this might not be for everyone. But the food…

The food is worth it, not sterile uberclean plastic setting we tend to find this side of the wall, this feels authentic, and tastes like the best in Mexico. The quality of the raw materials ids the best I have seen, even in México. Could the setting be better? Who cares, the tacos are fantastic that’s all that counts.

“Better than Little Caesars and the guys that operate this place are always so sweet and accommodating. My son requests this pizza several times a month. You cannot beat the large pepperoni anywhere at $6.50. It tastes good and they have great crust as well. Highly recommend.“
