“Love love loved this place. It's a cute little restaurant inside a grocery store. They have outdoor seating but we were in in a snow storm, so had to manage with the limited space indoors. But the food and the people were so good. My husband took the leaf eater and I took the teriyaki udon noodle soup. Both were Yum. We even took a pesto baguette to-go. Everything about this place is to fall in love with. ?

Vegetarian options: There are quite few options for vegetarians in sandwiches and noodle soups.. Plus many salad options.“

Few people come to Tahoe for the food, but Sage Leaf made this meal feel like a destination in itself.

The burrata appetizer was beautifully composed. The citrusy yuzu jam, perfectly toasted bread, savory prosciutto, and creamy Di Stefano burrata all worked in harmony. Every component felt intentional and contributed to the dish without overwhelming the others.

We also loved the Niman Ranch pork chop. The citrus brine kept the meat remarkably tender while giving it a clean, bright flavor. Paired with creamy polenta and perfectly cooked mushrooms, it was both comforting and refined.

The house-made pasta was another highlight. It appears to change with the seasons, and this version showcased a thoughtful selection of vegetables that truly felt like “eating the season.” The combination of balsamic and pesto was unexpectedly delicious—the acidity of the balsamic brought out the richness of the Parmesan beautifully.

What stood out most was the care behind the food. This is clearly a kitchen that cooks with intention and respect for ingredients. Our server, Brandon, was excellent and made us feel that same level of thoughtfulness throughout the meal.

If I could offer one small piece of feedback, it would be that a few dishes seemed to have many ideas competing for attention. A bit more restraint and a clearer focal point might make them even more memorable.

“Absolutely LOVE this spot!! We ordered a large of the sashimi selection, the pot of gold, negitoro maki, and I think the bluebird roll, and everything was divine! Of course my favorite was the o toro, but everything was spot on. The service was very friendly and quick and the outdoor seating was nice. From the outside it looks like a fast food sushi spot, but I was really impressed by the presentation and quality of the food as well as the overall service. Will definitely return!“

“Tucked away in an Incline strip mall this is a hidden gem. The ambiance is very French mixed with north Tahoe vibes. All the staff were super friendly and just enhanced the experience. The lobster bisque was amazing and comes with a fluffy pastry baked on top which is a meal in itself. The bone in veal chop was delicious, tender, flavorful and sat in a sauce that complimented the veal perfectly. We also had the sea bass which was flaky, moist and flavorful with hints of coconut. It was great. Highly recommend“

“We celebrated our anniversary at Restaurant Trokay and had an incredible evening.

John and Nyna Weatherson, along with their entire team, created a truly special experience from start to finish. We enjoyed the four-course prix fixe menu with the wine pairing, and every course was outstanding. The food was creative, beautifully presented, and most importantly, absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and really complemented each dish.

What stood out just as much as the food was the hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the personalized anniversary touches were greatly appreciated.

Truckee is fortunate to have a restaurant of this caliber. If you’re looking for a memorable dinner, special occasion, or just an amazing meal, Trokay is worth every penny.

“God-tier level breakfast sandwiches, our whole group was just jaw on the floor with how good they are! You can either do a bagel or croissant option, I got croissant, and customize with a few toppings. The coffee was solid and they have creative latte flavors. I’m from Seattle so always appreciate when the coffee is spot on. The guy who was at the register had the best positive energy and made you feel so welcome. We are sad it’s not closer to home! “This restaurant is fantastic! Lukas was one of the best servers I have come across. They have unique and flavorful twists on traditional Scandinavian dishes. And the manager Jeff sources local foods. The ahi appetizer in cones was a recommendation from Jeff and did not disappoint. Our Schnitzel was fabulous and so was the elk pot pie. It was quiet at the time we happened to be there so we got to chat a bit. We learned that the owner’s daughter is the pastry chef so we had to try the cheesecake. Also delicious. It was just a great dining experience.“

“let me tell you something. I grew up in Sun Valley. Tahoe is part of me. My sister called the night before. They didnt take reservations. But, we told them what was up. my sisters n I planned a weeks trip for my mother's 78th birthday. We hadn't all been all together since my littlest sister was 4... 36 yrs later we are all in one place. Our mother wanted to see her friends. Basically our second set of parents growing up. We pretty much pretended we were nonchalant about it. Their daughter n us put a scheme together to surprise them all. Weeks of planning. The night staff left a note for the morning staff. They open at noon. The party of three showed up at noon... us, the party of six showed up 10 minutes fashionably late. So we could surprise n give our elderly parents arrhythmia.The staff was awesome! Table ready, James our waiter was spectacular...the food.... awesome. Not many restaurants would be asking as people came in... are you the party of 9? lol my sister from another set of parents...as her mom confused said " no we are a party of 3" and her daughter leaned back and whispered ..." yes we are the party of 9. but they don't know shhhh!" it was spectacular! Thank you to the staff... you all rock! I hope if we ever make it back and you're still are rocking the vibe we got today, we will be there. You all take care of your staff. Today this place made our moment so special. We cant say Thank you enough.“

“Great spot in Kings Beach/Tahoe Vista. Sit in the deck for lake views (from across the road) or the side deck to watch folks teeing off from 1st tee. Not your typical “19th hole” but it serves that purpose as well. Sit at the bar and get to know the bartenders - a great crew. Get the schnitzel on the menu or any of the mussel preparations.“

“Located right off the exit with plenty of parking, which made it super convenient to stop by. The place has a cozy feel with a mix of bar seating and regular tables that work well for couples or small groups. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the wait wasn’t bad at all.

We ordered the Family Tradition Calzone and really enjoyed it. The Alfredo fettuccine was tasty too, though I personally would’ve liked a bit more sauce since it was slightly on the dry side.

Portion sizes felt fair for the price, and overall we left happy. Kind of wish we had come with a bigger group or a bigger appetite so we could’ve tried more from the menu. Would definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in Truckee.“

“A bike event on Sunday turned into a cold, rainy, windy, miserable day. We went to The Dam Cafe for hot chocolate and got so much love! The owner not only welcomed the wet, muddy riders in, she put out space heaters and wrapped us in blankets! Amazing! I was so cold and was warmed both physically and emotionally by the kindness. The food and drink where delicious. Can’t say enough good things. A little cottage of heaven in Tahoe City!“

“Gourmet pizza! We love coming here whenever we are in town. Family owned business and the owner is a wonderful person. We had the pleasure to meet him 3 winters ago. I am so glad how this place gets more and more popular!!

Taste and ingredients are great. The temperature control on the pizza is on point. Price on root beer is so good! Can’t beat that.
One thing to note, it does take long time to get the pizza, if you are in a rush, you can either call ahead to order or try this place when you have time to enjoy. It took us about 45mins to get our pizza a few weeks ago.
