“Love love loved this place. It's a cute little restaurant inside a grocery store. They have outdoor seating but we were in in a snow storm, so had to manage with the limited space indoors. But the food and the people were so good. My husband took the leaf eater and I took the teriyaki udon noodle soup. Both were Yum. We even took a pesto baguette to-go. Everything about this place is to fall in love with. ?

Vegetarian options: There are quite few options for vegetarians in sandwiches and noodle soups.. Plus many salad options.“

Few people come to Tahoe for the food, but Sage Leaf made this meal feel like a destination in itself.

The burrata appetizer was beautifully composed. The citrusy yuzu jam, perfectly toasted bread, savory prosciutto, and creamy Di Stefano burrata all worked in harmony. Every component felt intentional and contributed to the dish without overwhelming the others.

We also loved the Niman Ranch pork chop. The citrus brine kept the meat remarkably tender while giving it a clean, bright flavor. Paired with creamy polenta and perfectly cooked mushrooms, it was both comforting and refined.

The house-made pasta was another highlight. It appears to change with the seasons, and this version showcased a thoughtful selection of vegetables that truly felt like “eating the season.” The combination of balsamic and pesto was unexpectedly delicious—the acidity of the balsamic brought out the richness of the Parmesan beautifully.

What stood out most was the care behind the food. This is clearly a kitchen that cooks with intention and respect for ingredients. Our server, Brandon, was excellent and made us feel that same level of thoughtfulness throughout the meal.

If I could offer one small piece of feedback, it would be that a few dishes seemed to have many ideas competing for attention. A bit more restraint and a clearer focal point might make them even more memorable.

“I went to Cloud Sushi a couple of days ago with my family. They have a cute outdoor setup, and since it was a beautiful day, we got to sit outside on the benches.
We ordered at the window and I was very specific about needing my food to be gluten free. Unfortunately, I noticed immediately my food contained gluten before I ate it and alerted staff. However, the chef came out and rectified the issue quickly, which I really appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit!

The rolls i ordered were fine, and my partner and dad got the chef’s choice boxes, which they enjoyed. The prices were reasonable, and overall I appreciated the friendly service and the effort to fix the gluten-free issue.“

John and Nyna Weatherson, along with their entire team, created a truly special experience from start to finish. We enjoyed the four-course prix fixe menu with the wine pairing, and every course was outstanding. The food was creative, beautifully presented, and most importantly, absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and really complemented each dish.

What stood out just as much as the food was the hospitality. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the personalized anniversary touches were greatly appreciated.

“We've been coming to this bistro for many years, typically once or twice a year, and it's always a pleasure to return—especially during the summer. The outdoor patio is one of its biggest draws, and with the area's reliably pleasant weather, it's usually a wonderful place to dine. The food has been consistently good to very good over the years.

On this visit, we ordered the gnocchi with morels (excellent), escargots (very good), the New Zealand rack of lamb (very good and a generous portion), the salmon special (good), and La Grande Dessert (good).

The wine list is extensive and includes many interesting selections. Corkage is $40, and proper wine glassware was provided, which is always appreciated.

Service was friendly and efficient throughout the meal.

Overall, the restaurant continues to offer very good value, although the $40 corkage fee is on the high side.

One small annoyance was the suggested gratuities on the check. The lowest suggested tip was 23%—calculated on the post-tax total—with the other options being 25% and 30%. Those recommendations felt rather ambitious. Fortunately, there was also an option to leave a custom tip, which is what we chose. The service was good and certainly deserved recognition, but we prefer to determine the gratuity ourselves rather than be steered toward unusually high preset percentages.

Overall, this remains one of our favorite neighborhood bistros, and we'll continue to return.“

The sourdough toast with homemade blackberry jam was AMAZING. Only regret is they don't sell it by the jar.“

“This restaurant is fantastic! Lukas was one of the best servers I have come across. They have unique and flavorful twists on traditional Scandinavian dishes. And the manager Jeff sources local foods. The ahi appetizer in cones was a recommendation from Jeff and did not disappoint. Our Schnitzel was fabulous and so was the elk pot pie. It was quiet at the time we happened to be there so we got to chat a bit. We learned that the owner’s daughter is the pastry chef so we had to try the cheesecake. Also delicious. “let me tell you something. I grew up in Sun Valley. Tahoe is part of me. My sister called the night before. They didnt take reservations. But, we told them what was up. my sisters n I planned a weeks trip for my mother's 78th birthday. We hadn't all been all together since my littlest sister was 4... 36 yrs later we are all in one place. Our mother wanted to see her friends. Basically our second set of parents growing up. We pretty much pretended we were nonchalant about it. Their daughter n us put a scheme together to surprise them all. Weeks of planning. The night staff left a note for the morning staff. They open at noon. The party of three showed up at noon... us, the party of six showed up 10 minutes fashionably late. So we could surprise n give our elderly parents arrhythmia.The staff was awesome! Table ready, James our waiter was spectacular...the food.... awesome. Not many restaurants would be asking as people came in... are you the party of 9? lol my sister from another set of parents...as her mom confused said " no we are a party of 3" and her daughter leaned back and whispered ..." yes we are the party of 9. but they don't know shhhh!" it was spectacular! Thank you to the staff... you all rock! I hope if we ever make it back and you're still are rocking the vibe we got today, we will be there. You all take care of your staff. Today this place made our moment so special. We cant say Thank you enough.“

“This by far has been the most excellent restaurant I have dined at in all of Tahoe. The mushroom omelette that I had was excellent. The server was busy, but she made sure that I had everything that I needed and checked upon me frequently. The atmosphere was nice. It was breezy and outside and felt good. “A bike event on Sunday turned into a cold, rainy, windy, miserable day. We went to The Dam Cafe for hot chocolate and got so much love! “Gourmet pizza! We love coming here whenever we are in town. Family owned business and the owner is a wonderful person. We had the pleasure to meet him 3 winters ago. I am so glad how this place gets more and more popular!!

Taste and ingredients are great. The temperature control on the pizza is on point. Price on root beer is so good! Can’t beat that.
One thing to note, it does take long time to get the pizza, if you are in a rush, you can either call ahead to order or try this place when you have time to enjoy. It took us about 45mins to get our pizza a few weeks ago.

“The best part of this restaurant is it's environment and it's dog friendliness. We always go with Ares our JRT and you often see other dogs, on the patio. Food is good too, but I actually like my own cooking of quality meat in general.“
