“I’m dinning in with a group of friends and we are making a lot of special requests but the host is very patient and is taking very good care of us. We finish all the food and order more to go. The spicy bowl is amazing! And we finished the spicy bowl and order another one to go!!! Loving this place and would come back again!“

“I can't stop thinking about this restaurant. The interior is very plain, but the table has all the sauces and utensils you need. The menu has a great selection. Once you order, the food comes out fast, and it's piping hot. Everything tasted super fresh. I had the spring rolls (10/10) and the curry with vermicelli AND bread. This was a lot of carbs, but worth it! If I had to pick one, though, I'd go with the bread; it was hot and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was the last thing to come out, so I think they make it fresh. The flavor profile on the curry was amazing, and I can't compliment their mock meat enough; their chicken is some of the best I've had. My friend had the Pho and said it was great too. “Late-night hot pot + BBQ buffet with solid seafood

Went for the hot pot & BBQ buffet combo. You can pick one broth or go with a double/triple split. Lots of options on the buffet line.

A few standouts:
- Argentine red shrimp – plump, firm, with a nice snap
- Frog legs – surprisingly huge
- Oysters – fat and briny
- Grilled eggplant – soft and fully soaked in garlic sauce; every bite was pure flavor
- Grilled shrimp and grilled chicken skin– also really good

The sauce station was clean, and sodas are self-serve. They're open until 1 or 2 AM – perfect for late-night cravings.“

“Fig's Corner – A Second Visit That Completely Changed My Mind

This was my second visit to Fig's Corner, located on the corner of 30th Street and Figueroa. My first visit was about two years ago, and it was actually my first time ever trying hot pot. Unfortunately, I made the rookie mistake of taking a bite too soon and burned my tongue, so I never really got to appreciate the flavors. Because of that, I left feeling unsure about the experience.

I'm glad I decided to give it another chance because this visit was completely different.

The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere that's clean, modern, and welcoming. The service is simple but efficient. They hand you a menu with checkboxes, you mark everything you want, and the staff brings it out to your table.

To start, I ordered the cucumber salad, and it was fantastic. It was crisp, refreshing, and tossed with what tasted like chili crisp, soy sauce, and other flavorful seasonings. I also ordered the lamb skewers. They were small, but they packed an incredible amount of flavor. Every bite was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned.

For my main dish, I ordered the Signature House Beef Hot Pot, and I can honestly say it was one of the best soups I've ever had. The rich, savory broth was absolutely delicious. It came loaded with different cuts of beef, beef meatballs, quail eggs, tofu, mushrooms, vegetables, and several other ingredients that blended together perfectly. It was also served with a bowl of steamed rice and vermicelli noodles on the side, making it a hearty and satisfying meal.

To top it all off, I tried two of their specialty drinks: the grapefruit jasmine tea and the peach jasmine tea. Both were outstanding. The drinks included popping boba that burst with flavor in every sip, making them some of the best specialty teas I've ever had.

Overall, this second visit completely changed my opinion of Fig's Corner. Everything—from the appetizers to the hot pot and the drinks—was fresh, flavorful, and memorable. If you're looking for an authentic and delicious hot pot experience, I highly recommend giving Fig's Corner a try. Whether it's your first hot pot or you're already a fan, this place is absolutely worth visiting.“

“We had the seafood yosenabe set. The kaiseki appetizers were varied and elegant. The yosenabe was very flavorful. The Key is to cook vegetables first in the broth. The bran was incredibly sweet. Portions were plentiful. Couldn’t finish the rice porridge as last course and they were kind enough to cook it in the back and packaged it to go.“

Both of these were good when I had them with abalone, oysters, and beef for lunch. Their soup tastes rich but a bit too thick IMO.

“Hidden hot pot gem – $33.88 AYCE and actually good

This place has been around for over a decade, right by the TAWA plaza.

We got there right when they opened in the afternoon, and the place filled up almost instantly. Most people seemed like regulars.

$33.88 gets you AYCE hot pot + a buffet station + sauces. Same price on weekends, and they don't charge extra for broth. The soup base is surprisingly good – has that nourishing, slightly herbal vibe. Reminded me of the old Little Sheep.

Plenty of options. Lamb and beef are a must – fresh. The pork intestine gets super soft and sticky after a quick boil – I wanted a second plate. The buffet had sesame balls, spring rolls, piggy buns, fries, edamame… the cha siu bao actually tasted like dim sum from a cart.

We also ordered scallion pancake on the side – super crispy. Almost asked for another one to take home.

Service speed is probably the fastest I've seen for AYCE. Food comes quick. Open till midnight – great for late-night cravings. And if you're staying at the Hilton? Literally across the street.“

“I like this place. $13.99 per pound of food. You get to choose all your toppings. I recommend going heavy on the meats and light on the carbohydrates. That’ll be the best bang for the buck. They also have frog meat if that’s your lingo. I tried their beef bone broth and I like it a lot. I’d come back again.

Just a heads up. If you can’t eat mild this place won’t be for you. They can’t alter the broth. The only option is the tomato broth which is no spicy.“

“Meal was flavorful! We all agreed the dry pot stole the show. I really liked that I could load up my bowl with a very large variety of ingredients, from vegetables to meats to noodles. There is a minimum of 16 ounces but it was nice that I could choose whatever I wanted. I also chose not to have any rice because there were more than enough ingredients. I highly recommend this place for a casual no nonsense meal!!“

“The food at Wok Bar is a mixed bag. I had the lamb and beef skewers with rice; the flavor was good, but the meat was very dry. They definitely need to include a sauce or improve the marinade. Also, be aware of their seating policy you can’t eat skewers inside unless you order the big soup, so it's mostly a take go spot for skewer lovers. Good potential, but needs better food quality.“

“Very nice small restaurant selling specialty noodles and some side items. The potato noodles have a firmer texture, kinda like soba, the soup was delicious. Chicken bone was also very good. The staff were very kind as well. It happened to be raining when we arrived, and they were nice enough to let us come in a little earlier than opening, which we really appreciated.

I ordered the pork cutlet with curry and the portion was very generous — definitely satisfying and full of flavor. The only small hiccup was that my Diet Coke was forgotten at first, so I had to ask again, but they brought it out shortly after.

It's serving up traditional Japanese Shabu Shabu, Ramen and Sushi but it's adding a Thai Twist with options such as Thai Boat Noodle Broth and Tom Yum Broth along side your typical Japanese based shabu shabu broth like sukiyaki, konbu, miso, etc. What is going to surprise you is their dipping sauce called Thai Sukiyaki (tastes like kao man gai suace) and it is absolutely a game changer. It's flavor profile that is highly addictive. It is great when the chat can't decide between Japanese or Thai or drinking. Shabushi kinda has it all and its open till 2 am. It's the go to spot for restaurant workers in the area and regular people who get off of work after 10pm. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Ambiance is spacious and relaxed. There are so many specials that looking at the regular menu should be blocked. hehe. You gotta take advantage of their Sunset Happy Hour where apps and drinks are under $10 or if you wanna splurge the good way, check out their Shabu Duo Night Set for $48

4 stars for food and service. Food: they often serve meats that shouldn’t be served. In the few times I’ve come to All that Shabu, twice (in different visits) we were given meat that was red and blood-like. It wasn’t pleasant. And the other time, one of the meat options was all fat and had a speck of meat. I’m not sure, do they not check the meat slices before sending the out? I feel like the staff should check the quality beforehand.“
