Update: 3 years later and this place is still one of my favorite places 🥰
We ordered dinner from here today and last week. Food is always clean, light, and yummy! I love their bowls and tacos. My 5-year-old is addicted to their shrimp skewers!
Manager was awesome today. He service was outstanding!
By the way, portions are big compared to price! You feel full because of the amount of protein, and sometimes you have some food left in your bowl.

One thing I'd change about California Fish Grill is the plastic food containers... I believe healthy food should be served in healthier containers.

“Our server Laura was very pleasant and attentive. We came in on Father's Day which is busy everywhere. Parking lot full and there was a line when we went inside, but it went by fairly quickly. We were seated within 10 minutes time. Food was fresh, salad bar stocked, and ice cream available. Happy with the location for years and will be back.“

This intimate dining experience is a testament to ingredient-driven, technique-forward cooking, where flavors are both restrained, unpretentious, and deeply expressive. From the first bite, it was clear that Heritage excels at layering textures and flavors in unexpected ways. The meal began with an Amuse Bouche trio: a delicate prawn cracker topped with sweet Dungeness crab, a green leaf with another seafood salad that was to be eaten like a mini street taco, and balanced with the brightness and light crunch of pickled turnip. A seemingly simple couple of bites, but one that foreshadowed the precision and thoughtfulness of the courses to follow. To cleanse the palate, a mint tea infused with palo santo was served—a meditative interlude that was both refreshing and aromatic, setting the stage for the evening’s journey. The first official course, Crème Caviar, featured Russian Sturgeon Heritage Caviar and chive, a chilled preparation that was rich yet elegantly restrained. This was followed by Kanpachi Crudo, presented with carrot, ginger, and macédoine vegetables, offering a balance of clean ocean flavors against bright, vegetal undertones. Then came what I consider the star of the evening: a dish that fully captured the ethos of Heritage—Hen of the Woods Mushroom, topped in a “sunchoke stew” (crispy fried sunchoke) with fermented mushroom. For an additional $25, an indulgent shaving of black truffle took the dish to another level, transforming it into a sensory experience that evoked the deep, earthy satisfaction of foraging. The interplay of umami-rich elements made this course a masterpiece of textural and flavor contrast. The proteins that followed were executed with equal care. First, a perfectly prepared Rainbow Trout, sauted to perfection with a crispy layer of skin on one side, delicate pink flesh on the other, bathed in a delicate dashi and punctuated with bursts of smoked trout roe in a light creme sauce, which lent salinity and depth. Then, a 32-day dry-aged rib chop, a cut that can sometimes lean too “gamey” in the tradiinal steak house that cuts corners on a post aging trim, yet here was a revelation—tender, deeply beefy, but balanced. Accompanying the dish was sous vide endive, black garlic, and a shaving of Parmesan, which surprisingly lacked the usual sharpness, instead presenting a more rounded, delicate, nutty flavor. Desserts were a study in technique and balance. The first, a Grilled Strawberry with strawberry granita and Meyer lemon crème, was bright and refreshing, its layers revealing different expressions of cool and sweetness. Then came the Coco Craquelin, a delicate choux pastry filled with beurre noisette ganache and banana cremeux, meant to be eaten with the hands—a playful and interactive moment in the meal. This is not just a meal—it’s a quiet, profound meditation on flavor, technique, and the land from which it all comes. Where other restaurant profess to be a true “Californian” style farm to table experience , Heritage is, without a doubt, a must-visit for anyone who seeks out truly exceptional dining in California.“

“Had the grilled fish sandwich. It was a nice piece of the catch of the day. It was grilled perfect. It was placed on a fresh roll with lettuce, tomato, onion and a very good sauce. It was served with fries. We upgraded it to truffle parmesean fries. They were delicious. Our server was very good. The food came quickly. We will go back!“

“What a pleasant surprise! I had 6 types of dim sum dishes and they were excellent! This place was a Japanese restaurant before that served highly westernized Japanese food. Not that the previous restaurant has anything to do with the current restaurant but I went in with not too high expectations. I will be a repeat customer for sure!“

“We sat on nicely warmed outdoor patio watching the fun street scene pass us by. Creative options on the menu made it hard to choose. Exellent, beautifully presented wedge salad, seafood chowder and salmon were the winners. In the seafood chowder, at $18, we didn't expect a lot of seafood. It was more of a mushroom cream soup with delicious bread and some fish, which suited us fine. The salmon with couscous was perfectly prepared and a generous portion. The salad was also generous sized and creative. Service was excellent and non-intrusive. We parked right in front, free meter after 6 or 7pm. Fun to walk the area afterwards, see all the new places and Chapter II coffee which is open late and apparently turns into an alternative non-bar bar type scene with low lights and louder music. All in all, second street makes for a great date night.“

“Came here for a business dinner and was seated outside on a beautiful evening. Started off with a mix of oysters and the Cevichos. Both were excellent. Then the 5 of us went different directions for our mains, but my Squid Ink Linguini was top notch! Our server this evening was Chase K. He did excellent and we would love to come back here. “We went last weekend. There was no wait time. The server was consistent and was very friendly. I had a margarita that was made to perfection and a agua de pepino that was refreshing. The food was amazing. Order a seafood cocktail was yummy. The oysters were fresh. Tostada mixta was everything I wanted. I would totally go back next time I’m in the area.“

“We ordered 2 of the Mahi shrimp tacos with beans and rice and the shrimp salad. The food was pretty good. The lady that took our order was friendly and polite. The couple negatives would be as they were making our food, one of the workers were picking out the bad pieces of iceberg lettuce from the tray with their bare hands. The other was we didn't realize they did not include our rice and beans. We did not check our bag until we arrived home. It was only a couple $$ and after a long day of being on the road we didn't feel like going back. It was close to closing time for them and I do not doubt if we went back they would have fulfilled our order. I would just recommend on takeout to check your order before leaving and also for the employee to wear gloves.“

“Carnicería MZT is an absolute gem in Paramount ca. The owner is incredibly friendly and always goes above and beyond—she makes a fresh ceviche and honestly, it beats a lot of other places around. Every time I’m craving seafood, this is the first place I think of.

Not only do they sell amazing ceviche, but they also have great seasonings and a delicious house salsa that seriously goes good on everything. You can tell everything is made with care and pride. Highly recommend stopping by—you won’t be disappointed!“

“I love the Lobster! took my sister in law for lunch, they were only serving lunch menu so we asked at the entrance if we could order Lobster. The server went to the kitchen and asked the cooks if we could order the Lobster for lunch. She came out and said "yes, you can order whatever you'd like") My sister was also joining us, so all 3 of us enjoyed a yummy Lobster lunch! My sister in law was visiting from North Carolina, and loved it! A friend took me back in May for my birthday dinner..........guess what I ordered? She ordered it too and said "OMG! this is to die for!🦞🥔👍♥️“

“We love this place! We come every time we’re in California. I love Mariscos so this place is for me. Their agua chile is delicious, enough shrimp and octopus to fill you up! Not to mention to mention the avacado it is top tier as you can tell in the pictures. We also had the OC tostada it is very good there is no spice on this one which was perfect for our little one. They do have condiments; tapatillo, vanentino etc that you can add. The guy in the truck was super nice, even gave us some stickers. Parking lot is huge and free so plenty of parking.“
