Unlike another high-end restaurant where we had dinner a few months ago, there was nothing stingy about the pours at Chez Noir. It's a pricey meal to be sure, but we both thought it was worth it and will definitely re-visit.“

“I had done a search for the best clam chowder in Monterey and they are at the top of almost every list, and they were right! I got the clam chowder in the garlic sourdough bowl I highly recommend them! My wife, Michele got risotto with caramelized onions, shrimp and sole. We had a view of Monterey Bay and some sea lions playing. Our server, Giovanny, was phenomenal! He brought Michele a piece of complimentary cheesecake and a rose for her birthday. 🌹 I had the chocolate creme brûlée. Great start to our mini-vacay in Monterey!“

We’ve been here tons of times, but today when we went in, the service wasn’t the same, waitress seemed upset for some reason because I asked for extra avocado & I had to ask another waitress for some chips 20 minutes later because the original waitress never asked us if we needed anything else after they brought us our food. Besides that, food was delicious 👍🏿“

“My small family of three knew we had to get seafood while at the coast—and we wanted crab. Well, we got THE CRAB at this fine establishment.

We started with the crab cake, and it was quality with a capital Q. I noticed some reviewers mentioning the price-to-quantity ratio, but it seems they don't appreciate quality over quantity. We had the chance to order a pound of snow crab legs, and they were so perfectly seasoned and moist that the side of butter felt almost unnecessary. Truly delicious.

The cherry on top? Happy hour drinks.

“This restaurant is slightly cheaper than surrounding restaurants that offer basically the same food.

The calamari wasn't mind blowing but still very tasty. I didn't get the usual fishy smell from it. Wasn't too chewy. Neutral flavor and clean bite. The cocktail sauce they had on the side paired well with it.

For a takeout place right before peak lunch traffic, this place was slow. Food took about 15 minutes to come out. It was hot and delicious though.

This is very much a take out restaurant. Even if you decide to sit at the limited seating they have both in and outside the restaurant, you're still given food in a takeout container.“

There was lots of dog stuff someone had stepped in Inside was nice although a chair did keep yanking my hair out. I had a filtered Margarita that was delicious to start. We started with a salad with pecans and citrus, baked Brie, asparagus, shrimp cocktail. All very good . Then we shared the pork fava beans and mushrooms dish, sorels. Our guests had a polenta small plate and also the pork dish. For desert our guests had a had the white pudding stuff and we had the tiramisu which was huge. We all agreed that it was the best restaurant food we’d had in along time and put it above some others favorites. The service was excellent bringing everything on time and kept water in our glasses also polite and neet. We had reservations and were seated immediately.“

For 7 years that I have live in Downtown Carmel-by-the-sea by the sea and I have never experienced A.W Shucks so guess what! ... new Place Unlocked from now on every Monday ill be here, the rest of my week is booked, but!! “When I made a reservation at Covey Grill, I did so out of convenience as we were arriving to The Quail lodge late and I thought dinner at the hotel would be best after a long travel day. My family and I arrived to the restaurant at our reserved time and were seated immediately. The hostess even provided us the option to sit inside or outside on the deck. We opted for an indoor window seat. We began with the ahi grade tuna and satsuma starter. It was delcious. The tuna was so fresh. My husband and I each ordered the halibut market fish for the evening. The fish was prepared nicely and served with mashed butternut squash and asparagus. Our boys enjoyed their Shirley Temples, hot dogs and French fries. I must say the French fries were legit. We were impressed by the service provided and the quality of the dishes served. While we were disappointed to find out the restaurant would not be open for the regular menu the remainder of our stay, we were able to try their three course menu night via room service the final night of our stay. Be sure to check the days and times of operation and book a reservation as you will not be disappointed. Covey Grill is not your typical hotel restaurant.“

I alao had the red snapper special, with fettuccine al fredo, and vegetable medley. The fish was fried perfectly and very flavorful. Overall, I was highly pleased with my experience. Update: Back for a second night because last night was so good. Had to have the Garlic Fries again. Oh my... so good! Then it was Chicken Carnitas Quesadilla and Fish and Chips. Excellent!
