“This is an absolute jewel hidden away in El Cerrito. It is a great combination of Nepalese and Tibetan food. The food is very authentic and they have dishes you don't see at other Nepalese restaurants. The service is fantastic and you feel very welcomed there.“

“I really never have enjoyed tasting menus….but Tiya’s tasting menu fully changed my opinion on them. 4/6 dishes were things I probably wouldn’t have ordered on a regular menu so getting to try these dishes was a treat. We supplemented the tasting menu with the chicken gushtaba and the shrimp. They were both so good but the gushtaba was outstanding….Think a chicken meatball in fondue.
Everything was a flavor bomb and I would definitely come back“

“The restaurant itself is not in the best location, and the interior and bathroom isn't the best. But we went in and were welcomed so warmly for dinner when the place wasn't busy. We got the chicken biryani, garlic naan, and chicken tikka masala. The biryani is one of the best I have ever had in the US and the garlic naan was perfect and fluffy but crispy. The chicken tikka masala was creamy, not overcooked, and well seasoned. The best Indian restaurant we went to in East Bay. Would come again.“

Just want to share my experience
A very warm welcome with a pleasant smile 😍
It was a table for 7, for a small get together
The the service was great, there was no disappointment
About the food I really have no words as everything was the best, chicken xacuti , prawns curry, naan , chicken lollipops
I really enjoyed all the dishes. This was much beyond my expectations.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone“

“One of the best Indian places in SF. Food is so good, and easy on stomach. Dishes are curated, Jackfruit tacos are a must. Never had something like this, Dal was also very good. We had a great time enjoying our meal. Servers were amazing, special shout out to Pooja, she was amazing and gave us great recommendations. We also spoke to Chef, who was very friendly and shared the same“

“The best Momos and butter chicken and many other things you will eat in Berkeley. Have been living here since 4 years and I make it a point to walk down to the Resturant from the hills at least twice a week for their delicious food. The food tastes like what we eat at home, spices are a perfect blend, and the produce always taste fresh. Khendu & Gopal, the hard working couple behind the Resturant are super friendly and very kind.
It’s very close to University so you all see a lotta kids come for a hot meal & the love the couple have these kids is so beautiful.
I highly recommend Momo Masala. Our favorite place in Berkeley !“

“This is the best Indian food you can get in Berkeley! (Even better than Viks) We got the Vada Pav, Masala Chai and Donne Biryani. Everything tasted great and authentic! Vada pav reminded me of homemade ones in Bombay. Owner was very nice and welcoming. We are definitely coming back for sure!“

“We had the chicken biriyani and litti chokha. Its really good. They are very close to the authentic taste. The chicken biriyani here is lucknow style which is a bit rare to find in the east bay. Irrespective of that detail, the biriyani is really amazing.
Portions and service, really good.
p.s: if you get a patio seat on a sunny day, you get a nice view of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge.“

“I got Karahi Gosht and it was authentic and flavorful. Serving quantity was decent as well. I live in the South Bay and most places over there don't get this dish right. 5* from me, for the Karahi Gosht and Naan. Service understandably took some time because they make it fresh and piping hot. And I went there in between performances of standup comedy at Cobb's next door.“

“My dinner partner and I both agree that the physical atmosphere, and food were excellent. The place was almost empty on a Sunday night yet the service was mediocre. We had to keep tracking down the waiter for our hot water for the tea, box for take away, etc. Inattentive. The staff also seemed unhappy or dissatisfied with their jobs. The prices have gone up so don’t feel we got value for our money“

“Absolutely excellent meal! We usually go to Indian restaurant in Berkeley but wanted to try something closer to home. We got the samosas, chicken momo, chicken tikka masala, goat curry and the butter naan.
The goat curry was one of the most flavorful dishes we’ve had in a long time. The meat comes on the bone so expect a little bit of work but it’s well worth it for the flavor. Extremely rich, flavorful, and spicy. Chicken momo is also worth calling out as a must have. Odd yet true, but the water was surprisingly pure and fresh. Don’t know the last time a restaurant’s water caught my attention for a good reason. Overall a surprisingly great meal with a nice view.
Service was wonderful and all the food came out hot. Definitely our new favorite local Indian spot and we’re already looking forward to returning.“

“Loved that it was quiet and cozy for my conversation with my daughters. So often of late, it's impossible to carry on with talking. I've stopped going to those restaurants who feel like music and noise are hip (or whatever they think). The wait staff was attentive and the food was yummy.“

“Hole in the wall with delicious food! Today we had saag with potatoes (medium spicy was SO tasty) and vegetable korma with vegetable dumplings and sesame naan. Big fan of the sesame naan! Our usual order is bindi (okra) and lamb vindaloo, and veggie samosas - all of which we consistently love. My husband also got the cumin-spiced lemonade but thought it was a bit salty.“

“Munch India operates with quiet rigor from a compact storefront just off Shattuck. There is no dining room, only a kitchen. The entire floor plan is devoted to the hotline and prep station. There is no freezer, only refrigeration. Ingredients are purchased daily, mostly from Berkeley Bowl a few blocks away. Orders are placed online each morning before noon; cooking begins after.
The daily walk-in menu is limited, changes daily, and is prepared to order. The results are consistently superb. Spicing is precise, textures are balanced, and the dishes—drawn from across India—reflect deep training and care. The chefs, Diana Afroza and Nick Ahmed, have cooked professionally since the early 1990s, with backgrounds in Boston, Europe, and India.
Prices are extremely reasonable given the quality and labor involved. They are searching for a larger, dine-in location. If they find one, their costs—and likely their prices—will rise. For now, this is high-level regional Indian cooking, offered at below-market prices. It smells wonderful inside and the people you’ll meet are awesome. Order while you can.“

“I’ve been here a few times— usually during happy hour. I will say, when you catch the staff before the happy hour rush, the service and food is really spot on. Once I went during a very busy time and the service was slower than I’d anticipated, but Jack was really helpful in making sure I go the service I deserved and was really gracious when my order was messed up. The food is really flavorful and the drinks are well made!“

“I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
It is authentic Pakistani taste. LEGIT family owned and operated (the owner’s grandkids are often seen which is so sweet). I feel comfortable taking my baby there in her stroller as the temperature is perfect for her and they’re very kid friendly in case she has a meltdown.
Tastes like a feast in a Pakistani home. Which is like Indian taste but slightly better (in my honest opinion Pakistani taste and masalas are more flavorful)”. A Pakistani baji/aunty (who i think is the daughter in law of the owner) is the chef so it’s as authentic as it gets.
Their Nihari is second to none. I drive an hour from Pacifica to have it. Their chai (“milk tea”) is good too not overcooked at all which some establishments do.
Goat Paya is a delicacy of slow cooking mutton feet which isn’t attempted by many restaurants because of how time consuming and technical the dish is. They do it soo well.
Everything is halal. Highly highly recommended. They’ve been operating here for decades and have a fan base spanning years and years. And for good reason. They’re really sweet. Shout out to Hina baji who is the nicest server ever, she even remembered my order from when I used to come here with my pregnancy cravings!
BUT the best thing is that it is never too crowded that i cant find a seat. They always accept walkins. Prices are reasonable. Parking is easy to find too. Do try it!“

“I ordered takeout from NEWA. The food was excellent! The paneer tikka masala was super good. We ordered the spicy, and were humbled but honestly that’s what you’re looking for from an Indian/nepalese restaurant. The vegetable momos were unlike any momos I’ve had before but were super flavorful, with great texture & came with a punchy dipping sauce. Definitely have to order from them again!!“

A pure vegetarian spot that offers familiar South Indian favorites this is.
It prominently serves as a place where students bring their entourage of family and friends to spend time over a meal.
Plenty of casual dining and date nights occur here too.“
