“A little hole in the wall Chinese food shop.
CASH ONLY
This has been here forever. Like 20+ years at least. I hadn’t been in a long time but I was driving by and thought I’d stop. Same good Chinese food ready to go as I’d remembered. Would definitely go again. I’d rather give my business to them than the panda.“

“I enjoy this restaurant very much. The food is excellent and fresh. it’s served hot every time. The servers can speed up with taking orders but otherwise, they are o.k. The restaurant is ok. The seating is too close for me but I get it. There’s No parking. It’s excellent.“

“Ben Ben Hot Pot was the coziest hot spot experience I've had. I ordered the ox tail broth. It came with tender oxtail meat. There was a generous variety of ingredients to add and open access to tea and drinks. Our waitress knew just when to offer more broth and meats. The music was calm and the ascetic was clean and cozy. Great value at a low price, I will defiently be back !“

“Amazing noodles! I ordered the special noodle with extra spicy red soup, and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spicy—not just heat, but real depth. The noodles were chewy and cooked just right, and the portions were very generous. Super satisfying and authentic. Definitely coming back again. Highly recommend for spicy food lovers!“

“I ordered three orders of chow mein for my kid’s birthday party. They served them all in one big aluminum tray and it was enough for about 9 small servings.
I was really thrilled. The quality of the chow mein is outstanding, and they really made it easy for me to order the day before and serve it hot. I will definitely be ordering here again.“

“I agree with the last review~ the food here is so good! My husband got take out and ordered orange chicken, an eggplant dish in really delicious garlicky sauce, and a fried noodle dish with combo veggies and meat+shrimp. Will definitely go here again! Thanks, Happy Garden!“
“I got the romano beans and the fried chicken. I didn't know the fried chicken was chicken wings--- which it doesn't say and I don't like, but I ate it anyway. Wanted to try the chocolate cake (which is on the online menu) but it wasn't on the menu anymore. Will come back to try other things another time. Good service and nice ambience.“

“We’ve been to Szechuan restaurant several times, both dine in and take out. The food is always great and the staff is very friendly. Last night’s meal was particularly good. We ordered a couple of new dishes which were yesterday‘s specials. One had eggplant and chicken and the other was some fish dish. We had it as take out for a dozen guests at home. All of our guests were complimenting the food and asking where we got it from. Thank you Szechwan Restaurant.“

“I had dinner here tonight. I ordered pea shoots and spicy fish fillets.
The pea shoots were fresh and full of garlic flavor. They are my favorite vegetable—healthy and delicious.
The spicy fish was really tasty. It’s the best I’ve had in the past one or two years.
The restaurant provided tea and side dishes. The environment is comfortable, and the service was nice and thoughtful.
Highly recommend!“

“I get my lunch takeaways from here. Had a craving for eggplant in garlic sauce. Note: their lunch specials include soup and salad only if you EAT IN. I got an egg roll with my special, so I was happy. Food was hot and yummy, enough left for a light bite at dinner.“

“If you’re looking for a great spot to grab Chinese food in Richmond, V8 Kitchen on Macdonald Ave is definitely worth checking out. My wife and I found this place on Google Maps while looking for something new to try—and we’re glad we did! The photos and menu looked promising, and we were in the mood for a good lunch date.
As soon as we walked in, the lady who took our order greeted us with a warm welcome and helped us feel right at home. She was quick, polite, and made the whole experience feel personal. The place had a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, perfect for a casual and relaxing couple’s lunch.
The food? Excellent. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. You can tell they put care into their dishes, and it shows in the taste. The prices were also really fair for the quality and portion size.
All around, this was a great little food adventure for us. If you're local or just passing through Richmond and want good Chinese food with kind service and a calm vibe, V8 Kitchen is a nice choice.“

“I was so happy to have this restaurant open up a location in Berkeley. I've been to the original in Bellevue Seattle as well as their other locations in Seattle and here in the Bay Area since I enjoy their food so much. However, I think the Berkeley restaurant needs to work on the consistency of their dishes as compared to their other locations. I ordered the Mala Spicy Noodles last night and it was half lettuce instead of noodles with lettuce garnish. Fortunately, I asked and they graciously re-fired another order for me with less lettuce but when it arrived, they had the lettuce correct but now it also had less mala spice. I'll check again in a few weeks and will gladly change this review to a 5 star rating if they have the consistency fixed.“

“This is a Chinese fast food takeout only. You can order from the menu or get ready made food from the steam table. They have different individual or family specials. I got the green beans chicken and eggplant tofu with steamed rice. The food was delicious and the portions are huge. The price is reasonable for what you get. The atmosphere and decor are substandard and basic but that is the type of place it is.“

“Becky’s Chinese restaurant has been a staple restaurant in the Rockridge area of Oakland for over 25 years. They have amazing lunch specials and family dinner specials. I enjoyed a lovely lunch with my Mom and here’s what we ordered: The Broccoli Beef lunch special, Kung Pao Chicken lunch special and chicken chow mein. Keep in mind that the Kung Pao Chicken was a little spicy so for those that can’t take spice I might skip this dish. Everything was fresh and delicious. Each lunch special comes with soup and salad and each entrée comes with fresh steam rice. They offer lunch specials from 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Their white steamed rice is always cooked to perfection…not sure how they get it that way, but it is very good and fluffy. Becky herself sometimes takes our order and is so nice and accommodating. There were several takeout orders being processed throughout our meal. Another good sign of happy customers. The parking in this area can be challenging, but you can circle the block and you’re sure to find a park nearby. The best part about going to Becky‘s is visiting the neighboring stores around the restaurant. There are consignment stores, bookstores, and a European market directly across the street called Rockridge Market Hall. I highly recommend bringing a group of girlfriends or your mom here and just enjoy the neighborhood, fun shopping and yummy Chinese food!“

“I love the food here. Anytime I go, there's never a lot of people in there and I usually order ahead and pick it up. The Salt and Pepper fish, Shrimp Chow Mein-Skinny and Honey Walnut prawns are what I usually order.
The area has changed a lot, Longs, the Dive Bar and Wheel works are all closed. Safeway is still there and CD is to the right of it.
Parking: Plenty of parking.
Wheelchair accessibility: Parking is not a problem.“

“We’ve been coming to Little Hong Kong for as long as we can remember and our family even longer. This is our go to Chinese spot in the Berkeley area and for good reason, it is fantastic food for a very good price. We frequently order for takeout but there is a dine in option in a spacious inside room. Parking is pretty quick and accessible to find for pickup as well and the food was ready much quicker than we expected. We ordered a bunch of food from stuffed tofu to salt and pepper spare ribs, pork fried rice, chicken and green beans, beef chow fun, and so on…
The food is flat out great. Not a single dish was average, all were far above it. The standouts to us were the beef chow fun, just popping with flavor and texture with a very nice sauce layering the noodles bringing it together; and the Singaporean noodle, unreal with bold flavors and the nice chew of the very fine noodles. Again, the food is so good but the price really brings the value to a point where it feels like a must go to recommendation. Dining in is also a great experience with friendly and knowledgeable waiters. Absolutely a great spot for family dinners and with Chinese New Year around the corner it’s a great option for anyone looking for a spot to spend it!“

“Used to go here when the original owners were there. New owners now food is still good. Little different cooking style. But the items that I have ordered were good. I always take my food to go since I live pretty close by. Still exploring the menu. Haven't been disappointed yet.“
“Self-serve. No hassle. Great food at awesome price. Definitely will try their dim sum dishes next time at an earlier time. They actually use ceramic/actual bowls and dishes and not disposable/single-user like many other places of similar food.
Would love to see maybe next time they will have their own home made chili oil!
Update: visited two more times after initial review a month ago. Seems like the secret is out so it's getting crowded here. If you arrive after 1:30ish they only offer to-go because they close at 2 and it takes 20 minutes to freshly cook the food.
This place is run by a small team with only one person at the counter who is also responsible for 26 other tasks so please be patient and understanding. They probably don't mind losing business from potential customers who are in a hurry or turning away due to long and slow line; this place is probably not for you and try again next time when you are not in a hurry.“

“Very good. I'm not really a fan of Chinese food but my son asked it was his birthday and the place we usually order from was closed. I have to admit it was really good. I ordered chicken chow mein, fried rice, beef broccoli, sweet sour pork, sesame chicken, and gyoza. Everything was delicious hot fresh flavorful and quick. Keep n mind this was the 4th of July, they were open and the guy who took my order was really nice and attentive. This will be my new spot“
“First time. Great find! The food was delicious and well prepared. Didn't have that "all day in the steam tray" look and feel that now seems standard at other similar places. Vegies looked and tasted like they were made from fresh. The meats were tender and generous. Sauces light and not overly sweet or heavy. Will be our new go-to Chinese takeout!“

“We enjoyed daal makhani and veg korma with rice. All was delicious. But be forewarned, we asked for a spicy level between mild and medium, and we both found the spice heat level to be way above what would be considered medium at most every other place we've been to. Good food, but very spicy.“

“This is my new go-to dim sum restaurant in the east bay! The dining room is spacious with tall ceilings, natural light, and simply elegant decor. “My boyfriend and I had a great time at this dumpling restaurant. We ordered a few dishes to share family-style, and everything was amazing. The fried xiao long bao was delicious and crispy, and the pork face was rich and perfectly cooked—the seasoning was very authentic- like what you would get in China.
The staff were very homey and kind as well. A good spot for anyone who loves authentic dumplings!“

“Great experience at MUMU Hot Pot in Emeryville! The quality of the meat was excellent—very fresh, nicely marbled, and perfect for hot pot and grilling. The broth was flavorful, and the dipping sauces were well-balanced. Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was clean and comfortable. Definitely a great spot for a satisfying hot pot meal in the Bay Area. Will be back again!“

“Excellent food, even relatively plebian fare like fried rice was a step well above, and the have some unique specialty dishes I'd never eaten. Expensive, but worth it. Hated electronic ordering, and it wasn't clear hot tea was a thing you could get on a cold Christmas night, but I'd go back.“

Parking: Has a 17 or 18 stall Tesla Superchargers just off the I80 Central Street off-ramp in Richmond/Albany area. During the day, the parking lot gets very crowded, but mornings and evenings are fine.

“If you want a hole-in-the-wall and authentic experience, then this is the place to go. As for the customer service, I think it really adds to the authenticity. When I look for Chinese food, I find a direct correlation between lack of ambience/customer service with the authenticity/taste of food. The food proves this logic. The owner is a one man band and banking on skill alone which is honestly quite impressive since the overhead costs to keep this location running is not cheap.“

“This place always serves their DIY hot pot piping hot like roof-of-your-mouth-burnt hot. It’s one of our favorite hotpot’s in berk. I’m sad they close in between 2pm to 5pm because I always crave it around 3pm!
Once you come in, you navigate towards the bowls and you can grab whatever you want with the tongs. Then set it on a scale and choose the soup base. The cost is per pound of food. I like the classic bone broth. But even mild or not spicy, is quite spicy. They also have a dry pot version, where they just sauté all the items you picked out in some sort of mala sauce. But I find the soups much tastier.
Atmosphere is not much. They have a tendency to turn Tables over pretty quickly. And many will just eat and bounce. Not really a linger type of restaurant.“

“Very delicious! I got the chicken and mixed vegetables with steamed rice. Their lunch special came with a corn soup, which was also tasty and a nice way to start the meal. I liked the sauce on the chicken and vegetables a lot. Rice just needed soy sauce. Nice and large portions. Also came with fried wontons and sweet and sour sauce. My husband liked the spicy orange chicken but didn’t find it spicy. We shared the Chinese chicken salad as well. Even their tea was good! Would happily come back.
Parking: Shared lot with laundromat and liquor store, felt safe too.
Kid-friendliness: Noticed a high chair.“
