I don’t understand why there’s bad reviews because it doesn’t reflect what I’ve had here. There’s just one guy serving tables here, so service can take a bit when they’re busy. But it’s worth it. Don’t miss out because you see a few bad reviews. In the Bay Area over all, most Chinese food tastes so watered down and lacks flavor. This place is great.“

“This is one of my two favorite Chinese places in the Bay Area. I've been going there for like 15 years, miss them a lot when I'm in DC working. It's a very affordable place, the lunch deluxe deal is unbeatable. They can also do dishes that are not in the menu for the connoisseurs like pak chit kai, the traditional steamed half hen with a tangy and tasty ginger garlic scallion condiment. It's no frills, but we are not here for a Michelin experience but to eat really delish Chinese Cantonese plates. “I love their beef noodles! And the meat is not too bad - not chewy/fatty. Could use extra veggies or add a little more but otherwise it's ok. The morning silog are great! My daughter loves bangus so she orders bangus silog. We can't order bangus anywhere else (main stream restaurant) so this a treat for her. Breakfast has limited time so make sure to get there before it ends. My daughter and I order sesame balls to take home and eats halohalo for dessert (summer time treat) afterwards. We also order taho for winter treat to finished off our visit. This store is like a fast food place - first you order and pay for your food at the counter. Then wait for your food to call in and enjoy your food either eat-in or take out. Just like any other fast food restaurants.

We started out with the corn chowder soup ..excellent and best we've had anywhere. “We’ve been to Szechuan restaurant several times, both dine in and take out. The food is always great and the staff is very friendly. Last night’s meal was particularly good. We ordered a couple of new dishes which were yesterday‘s specials. One had eggplant and chicken and the other was some fish dish. We had it as take out for a dozen guests at home. “The food was good as usual. It was not very busy for a Sunday but the staff looked tired and not very enthusiastic. They should enforce dress codes for servers. The floors were sticky when you walk into the restaurant. The water glassed were plastic instead of glass. The restaurant needs deep cleaning and freshen up the atmospher. You can see all the storage freezers when sitting in the dining room when they can be hidden with a decor curtain or a trifold divider. They don't bring the bill to the table or accept payment at the table only at the cashier which is weird for a sit down facility“

Great price for the amount of food, and every entree I have ordered has been great, especially the spicy eggplant with tofu. “Becky’s Chinese restaurant has been a staple restaurant in the Rockridge area of Oakland for over 25 years. They have amazing lunch specials and family dinner specials. I enjoyed a lovely lunch with my Mom and here’s what we ordered: The Broccoli Beef lunch special, Kung Pao Chicken lunch special and chicken chow mein. Keep in mind that the Kung Pao Chicken was a little spicy so for those that can’t take spice I might skip this dish. Everything was fresh and delicious. Each lunch special comes with soup and salad and each entrée comes with fresh steam rice. They offer lunch specials from 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM. Their white steamed rice is always cooked to perfection…not sure how they get it that way, but it is very good and fluffy. Becky herself sometimes takes our order and is so nice and accommodating. There were several takeout orders being processed throughout our meal. Another good sign of happy customers. The parking in this area can be challenging, but you can circle the block and you’re sure to find a park nearby. The best part about going to Becky‘s is visiting the neighboring stores around the restaurant. There are consignment stores, bookstores, and a European market directly across the street called Rockridge Market Hall. I highly recommend bringing a group of girlfriends or your mom here and just enjoy the neighborhood, fun shopping and yummy Chinese food!“

“We went for lunch after hearing they were closing in June because their lease is not being renewed. The lunch menu was extensive compared to other Chinese lunch menus I've seen. All three of us ordered different things. 2 were pork and one was beef. All were nicely prepared. Lunch included fried or steamed rice, wonton, egg roll, hot and sour soup and one entree. We asked for tea and one person got apple juice.“
