It’s an interactive theater of fat, smoke, and instinct. And if you want to experience this ritual at its absolute peak, you don't look for white tablecloths or corporate steakhouse polish. You look for a place that feels a bit tucked away, cozy, and smells instantly like caramelized soy, rendered fat, and sweet wood charcoal the second you open the door.

You start with the yukke—the raw beef tartare. In lesser hands, raw beef can be a texture game with no payoff. Here? It’s seasoned with precision, rich, clean, and spiked with an egg yolk that ties the whole beautiful mess together. It’s a declaration of intent: we know meat, and we know how to treat it.

Then, the main event. Plates of A5 Wagyu, Kobe outside skirt, and prime beef tongue arrive, sliced with the kind of geometric reverence usually reserved for fine tailoring. The marbling on the Wagyu doesn't even look real; it looks like a geological map of some frozen, beautiful landscape.

Literally melts in your mouth. Real Japanese taste and items. Before this place I had no idea wasabi actually had flavor wasnt just spicy.Even the rice is better than normal. Worth the price but get ready to spend about 100 to 150 for 1 to 2 people. Again... delicious. They dont have many decorations and the tables are a lil cramped for tall pepple. I cant think of any music playing. But the people are very nice and attentive.“

“Had the best food at Smoke Queen Barbecue: the tri tip, chicken, sausage, ribs, and delicious sides were all fall off the bone fantastic. Try the sesame slaw with spicy cucumbers, macaroni and cheese and fries. We loved the banana pudding, bread pudding, beers on tap, all with a great smile and playground to enjoy with our family. If you haven’t tried Smoke Queen Barbecue, you are missing out. So scrumptious!“

“The place is small and a little old, but it’s pretty well known around OC for Korean BBQ ribs. The prices are a little high, but the food is really good. Both the beef short ribs and pork ribs have great flavor without being too heavy, and you can really taste the meat. The side dishes are simple but good, and I especially liked the seasoned minari. It goes really well with the meat. Not a fancy place, but I’d definitely come back for the ribs.“

We were a group of 10 and we came right at peak dinner time, which honestly sounds like a terrible idea but thankfully they were able to sit us within 40 minutes. We were sat at two tables and had a burner each. The service was great, especially with how busy they were that night. The KBBQ was super yummy and I especially loved the steamed egg, I ordered two total. The house salad was so so good- I wish someone would tell me the recipe (pls) because I ate the whole bowl. We had the Manpuku Traditional Omakase and we had leftovers to take home, there was so much food. All the meat (chicken shrimp and beef) all 5/5 star quality. The braised short ribs came with about one piece of meat per person, and they were way too sweet for my taste. The brisket soybean paste stew was also very greasy. The gujeolpan was delicious, but the portion was extremely small.

“I think I've already posted about them? Anyhoot- The food, specifically the wings are absolutely the best I've ever had. They are NOT frozen and are cooked to order. They nail each of their flavors like a Gold medal. My wife and I have cravings... for these extremely fresh wings. A little pricey but worth it. I believe they sell wings in a 10 and 20 count.I always finish mine and have at least 3 of my wife's. If you worry about them being Korean BBQ....DON'T. You will have fireworks of flavors and textures blowing up total goodness on all of your tastebuds. If you do order don't expect 5 or 10 minutes as I said not frozen and cooked to order, make sure you know they'll take 15 to 20 minutes to make. I don't want to say anything bad at all, but they charge you for ranch dressing and it is a little priced high. But don't let that stop you. Go get your fingers covered in beautiful flavors, I've never been a finger licker, but I lick my fingers here. It's an exception. Go, you will fall in love...LOL“
