“AKASAKA. WOW. I was on set and got hungry so me & G3 went to the sushi joint that’s literally tucked away and VERY IYKYK (if you know, you know). All I gotta say is that the Yellowtail Cut Roll got me dancing. The hospitality was great, we were given Iced Green Teas on the house because we were waiting for our to go orders. “Great local sushi spot with stone decent pricing!

Seating is very limited and the menu gives off a bit of a dated feel but you really can't argue the classics when they're done well.

Sushi rice had just a bit of tang and was light and fluffy.

Dishes were presented very well and our server was thoughtful and cautious enough to make sure our table wasn't overflowing. We ordered about 6 items and by the 3rd plate things were crowding up.

Blue crab avocado roll ($9) - A little heavy on the Japanese mayo and rice but it made for a great presentation on the plate it was on.

Tempura mixed ($9) - 3 pieces of shrimp and 3 pieces of veggies. I'm on the fence with this one since I really enjoyed the presentation but felt like the batter on the shrimp was heavy and the veggies were mostly extra starchy items.

Mini spicy tuna bowl ($9) - This was a pleasant favorite! Just the right amount of heat and a decent amount of tuna over that delicious sushi rice. The first couple of bites where the cold tuna contradicts the warm rice was like being able to eat that feeling of walking on the warm sand and letting the chilly ocean water cool you off.

Amberjack/Hamachi Tuna ($5/piece) - This was interestingly a lighter flavor than what we were familiar with. The cut was thin but blanketed the rice with just a small swipe of sauce and a dab of yuzu paste on top. Playing perfectly well with the tangy rice but also all being a star of the bite while being clean.

Grilled Tuna Belly ($12) - This was the star of the table. Lightly grilled with a bit of crispy edges, seasoned and topped with garlic and micro greens and paired with a dipping sauce on the side to choose how heavy or light you prefer to dip.

Tempura Ice cream ($7) - Couldn't leave our first visit without trying a dessert item. Classic fried ice cream that is wrapped with pound cake and rolled in their delicious tempura batter. Saving room for this is a must if you grew up demolishing these in the early 2000s.

Hidden gems are great to find and it feels like this place has a lot of classics that give you a homey feel where you don't know where to start. Just dive in and make sure you mark off the ones you've tried because there are a good amount of dishes that were of value and quality here.

“This is the best place in LA for teriyaki. I got the chicken and beef plate. The sauce is sweet and delicious, the chicken is perfectly grilled with a nice charbroiled flavor, and the beef is tender. Make sure you add the fresh avocados which pair perfectly with the meat and rice. I enjoyed adding the complimentary hot yellow chilies as well.

This is my third visit here and tonight the beef seemed a little bit fattier than usual like it wasn't trimmed enough, but other than that, everything was perfect. I will be back.“

“Incredibly delicious! I can’t wait to go back! We had the Parmesan scallops, and the Peruvian ceviche with raw halibut. I’m not usually a raw halibut fan, but this was incredible and my favorite dish of the meal! “I came here to check out their breakfast and let me tell you I was impressed. They had this toast with avocado, onions and tomatoes 10 out of 10 I even tried their breakfast udon and the broth was so delicious. I even got into their onigiri and I tried their California their crunch the tuna and the salmon, and they were all so flavorful. But their yogurt Matcha was my favorite as well as their torch spam musubi so so good definitely you’re gonna wanna come check out for their breakfast. It is such a cute little mom and pop shop. It’s like a hidden gem very friendly very clean. I’m definitely coming here to have breakfast and their actual lunch and dinner. Oh and if you love chicken, Katsu, you wanna get their breakfast dish one too it’s so good.“

I liked the broth in their ramen — super flavorful and comforting. The California roll was fresh and hit the spot. I also tried the cream wonton; it was just okay, but came out really hot, straight from the kitchen.

The place was busy, but service was fast and smooth. Everyone was friendly, and the food didn’t take long to come out.

“Roll & Teriyaki is a good local spot for delicious, fast-casual Japanese food at affordable prices. The quiet and clean dining area will accommodate small groups or solo diners.

The menu boasts Japanese favorites that most people will be familiar with. The value-packed combos are a real treat. I've also enjoyed the chicken and beef teriyaki bowls, as well as the sushi and roll offerings. While they may not offer as many fish varieties as other places, the ones they do have are all fresh and satisfying.

For a small, mom-and-pop restaurant, I'm glad there's a place like this close to home and affordable. The service is good. I've visited many times and the owner is a man of few words. The other staff have been nice as well.

If you're on a budget and craving Japanese food, R&T is worth checking out. There is plenty of parking in the public lot.“

“We get lunch or dinner at Maruichi AT LEAST twice a week! The karaage and different types of musubi are really, really good. They sometimes run out of the karaage, so that tells you how much people like it. The karaage is marinated well and cooked perfectly. It's a bummer when they run out of the karaage because the options around just can't compare. Give them around 30 minutes to fry the chicken because it's made to order. You won't be disappointed... Speaking of which, I'm going to order some now. For the musubi, I highly recommend the tuna and kurobota (sausage) -- the sausage musubi comes with the perfect amount of wasabi. This place is an absolute gem.“

The house salad was healthy (not just iceberg lettuce) and had a generous portion for one person. My friend said it was super delicious - Sunset roll, blue crab roll, and miso black cod were on point flavor wise. Only negatives were that the seaweed was a bit chewy (not super tough though) and the soup slightly salty. The staff was kind, friendly, attentive, and patient - hard to come by these days. We couldn't forget the rich and creamy pork bone broth of tonkotsu and miso ramen, so we decided to check out this restaurant, and the broth is simply a masterpiece. For Koreans, this could even be a perfect hangover soup after a night of drinking. The broth is top-notch. We went during lunch, and the prices were very reasonable. I think we'll be coming back often.“

“This place did not appear automatically on Google Maps and we just saw it in the area. But so glad we did! Got the donkatsu (Donkkaseu) combo with soba. Portions were pleasantly larger than expected and we felt contently full afterwards. The katsu was fried perfectly and had a nice crunch! The donkatsu had lots of meat, and there were also side dishes that came with the meal!

“I decided to order some Tonkatsu from Ginkgo Katsu, on a food delivery app based on the good reviews. Thankfully the reviews were on-point this time! The Katsu arrived in this kind of fancy, big box with the meal in different sections - the Tonkatsu, rice, cabbage salad, Katsu sauce; then separately was the curry sauce (I ordered extra), pickled veggies, dressing. “Saw a picture of the Yakisoba Katsu sandwich and I had to have one! It was awesome! The Katsu was crispy and the meat tender. In short it was perfect! (not dry at all!) the yakisoba noodles was a nice addition as it absorbed the tonkatsu sauce and the cole slaw dressing! I also loved the brioche bread! A perfect touch. “This has been my go-to place now when i want to eat somewhere that is affordable, has a good value and in a setting where i can grab other things for my shopping on my way in or out. I find myself sitting for hours here enjoying a lot of food at good prices and just the ambience of being in a foodcourt setting.

Ther offer a curry dish and a katsu dish with everything they have. The curry dishes just has the item with rice and curry, however, if you add a dollar more, you get a katsu dish when includes a soup and salad. Theyre not stingy with their portions either, so expect all their servings to be huge. Its actually enough for me to take home and feed me for at least two more meals. Of all the options they have, i recommend the fish katsu - every time ive had it, i can barely close the lid, the texture is the most crunchy and the inside is cooked just right... and i just like fish.“

“Have been coming to Sushi & Roll for a couple of months. My son and i love the sashimi, Sapporo, and rainbow rolls. My wife and sister enjoy the gyoza, baked salmon, and chiken karagi. “I used to come here regularly and my first visit was back in 2001. The food and service has always been great. Mimi had quite the personality and perhaps some might've thought she was rude but I loved the character that she added. I'm not sure if she's still there but I know today I saw Yohan who has always been the most lovely pleasant server ever. I've heard some people tell me that it isn't the same and it has fallen down hill but today I went in with my father and I still enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. These are the THE BEST California rolls I've ever had. You can't beat the price on the quality of these rolls. Thank you for still making food I enjoy.“

Customer service is excellent, they have a soda fountain with Coke products (and cans for other brands), a few tables inside so good for a quick lunch/dinner or takeout.

This place is an absolute no-brainer for simple, great Japanese food. If you’ve never been, you need to come, and if you have been, you need to come back. Skip the Flame Broiler’s and Panda Expresses and be happy that you came here instead.“

Kinda on the pricy side but worth it. Long time ago, I was searching for restaurants the entire (picky) family could eat at, enjoy and approve of and I definitely got more than I bargained for. I'm a regular for their yellowtail nigiri, no wasabi and my family completely adores their Spicy Beef Udon. Sushi tastes pretty fresh, though I recently had their assorted sashimi bowl and the finish tasted a bit...old? Can't put my finger on it but they also forgot the (AMAZING) miso soup that came with it. Bummer but still enjoyed my meal. They also have great customer service :D We went 3-4 times and they were already recognizing our faces.All in all, I truly recommend. Great during non-COVID but their food is still great to-go. I also like how there isn't a need for waiters here. They have a tablet at each table where you place an order of the items you want and they bring it to you (and rather quickly too). You don't pay on the tablet so it's more like your adding requests for items you want in real time and they bring it to you.

“I ordered a vegetable tempura bowl, which was extremely generous! The pieces of vegetables were huge. It was pretty heavy with the grease and that’s what ultimately removed a star from my review. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl. I asked to add vegetables and learned that it’s not an additional price because they do it by weight. I eat Flame Broiler regularly and this is similar. The sauce at this restaurant is much lighter and the chicken is probably not as intense in flavor, but the bowl is very good. I would order it again. They have a little table with condiments and they offer the ginger which is yummy but it is the pink dyed ginger, which is unfortunate. It’s very tasty, however. They seem to do a good business with a ready supply of people wandering in to enjoy their food. The young man behind the register was very helpful and patient.
