Easy valet parking, cozy location on the marina, sleek seating with maritime decor, classic (and strong) drinks, and a quiet ambience -- all make it a standout in LA, where oftentimes the quality of the food outstrips all the other aspects of the dining experience. As for food: we liked all the seafood options we tried (sea bass, bouillabaise, sand daps), and the burger was thick and juicy. Remarkably, we spent three hours talking and enjoying our three-course meal, and the servers were friendly the whole time and didn't rush us. We will be back!“

“Ate dine in at this little hole-in-the-wall joint on a recent visit to LA. Close (street) parking was a miracle, but theres also parking (and bathrooms) across the street at the El Super. Portions for a Boil Bag were generous, one corn, potato, rice and a few broccoli were included. All amenities were provided: table paper, bibs, sanitizer, bucket, gloves, scissors for crab legs. Cajun garlic butter seasoning was delicious, not too spicy for the kids. Speaking of kids, seafood boil keep kids remarkably entertained! This place deserves all the good reviews. Our only (small) complaint is the distance to a bathroom, but it's a small price to pay for a delicious meal.“

“I’ve been hearing about this place a lot recently — it’s basically Korean BBQ but with seafood. Came on a weekday with a group of 8, and while it’s usually busy, we grabbed a table in the back patio so we didn’t have to wait too long.

We went with the Captain Set and the Crew Set. Both came with banchan and cold Korean noodles, which were super refreshing alongside all the grilled seafood. Everything is cooked over coals, which gives it a nice smoky flavor that really brings the seafood to life. I even tried hagfish for the first time — definitely unique, but glad I gave it a shot.

Price-wise, it feels a little high for what you get. At the end of the day it’s just seafood, so it didn’t really fill me up the same way a KBBQ set would. But the quality was good, and I liked that the meal finished with a hot noodle soup — comforting and a nice way to end the spread.

Overall, it’s a fun spot to check out with friends if you’re into grilled seafood and want something different from the usual KBBQ routine.“

“Been to this place a couple of times before. It's totally a very casual vibe, the bartenders are unbelievably friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and not on the expensive side especially for what you get. We will continue to go back. Great selection of beer if that's what you are into.“

“I came across Playa Provisions when in town for business. It was a short Uber from the airport, so I figured I'd give it a try. This place is an absolute gem! It is a unique setup that has everything you'd possibly need from morning until late at night: Cafe in the front for coffee and fresh baked good, as well as full breakfast menu. Later in the heat of the afternoon, take a break from the beach (right across the street) and enjoy hand scooped specialty ice cream cones and shakes. Oh look, it's dinner time... and Playa Provisions opens their dining room and bar, some of the best, most relaxed ambience you'll find for miles around. But don't let the casual setting fool you, this is some incredible, elevated cuisine. Chef owners Nick and Brooke (who you might recognize) crafted a menu that's I've been eating my way through, and have yet to find a dish that's not delicious. You've been eating and drinking all day, and are exhausted? Don't leave yet! Wander into the back 'secret' whiskey bar, (Grain Whiskey Bar) and enjoy hand crafted cocktails from award winning bartenders (no, literally), in a gorgeous wood laden atmosphere. “The signature dish is the crab in sauce, which comes in medium and large sizes. medium is two crabs with two bowls of rice, and large is three crabs. Compared with other Korean restaurants, the sauce crab taste is mild, and it will not be salty enough to explode in the middle of the meal and cannot continue to eat. The crab is fresh, not fishy, and the meat is firm, not squishy. The crab meat is also very full, the crab legs are full, there is no empty shell crab. The sea urchin rice is a little smaller but the sea urchin is enough. regular sea urchins are not particularly sweet, but they are fresh and worth the price. The sea urchin Rice bowl combo will be served with steamed eggs, runny eggs and two prawns in sauce. Raw marinated salmon rice is amazing to me. The salmon is marinated just enough to be flavorful, but not overly salty. The portions are generous. You can eat two bites of each piece of salmon.“

1. The vegetables!! OMG You might not be expecting it, but the vegetables here are so delicious and they hold their own against the fish. Expect seasonal vegetables and wonderful provisions that will blow your mind.

2. This is one of the very few places where you can get locally caught bluefin sushi here in Los Angeles. Maybe one of about 3 places right now as of this review? They don't have it all the time so call ahead.

3. The berry kakigori is otherworldly good.

“Freshest restaurant quality sashimi and sushi at a reasonable price in the U.S. Their sashimi is top notch. Highly recommend the Hamachi/yellowtail toro (so underrated), the scallops, and the squid/ika, but honestly any of the options won’t disappoint. Also a big fan of their tamago and their Takuan roll (which has fresh perilla leaves inside)!

“don’t listen to those people below. i’ve been here several times and it’s always an amazing experience. if you’re afraid of shrimp with the heads on and order a pimento cheeseburger with lettuce instead of a bun, you are infinitely unqualified to critique food.

what takes this place from good to great is the service. the host and servers are attentive without being overbearing and are deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of the raw bar, cooked food, wine, and beverages. i’ve never had an issue with accommodating simple modifications (like removing a pork product).

I was in fact at the restaurant the night one reviewer below (complaining about the service) was there. they were an entitled group of drunk girls asking for difficult requests (trying to split the bill a number of ways). as they were walking out of the restaurant and waiting for the uber, they were extremely loud and rude. I wouldn’t be particularly excited to serve their group either.

all in all, highly recommend this spot. the menu is always evolving, and now that they have a full bar, they make a killer martini.“

“This place was way overdue for a visit. Believe when I say this family establishment goes beyond excellent service and quality. To all this visit took place on a Friday midday so parking was not an issue. Be warm that is not the case on the weekend. Parking will be tough and strongly suggested any ride share options. The seafood here is simply amazing, One fish taco alone is more than enough to fill you up but if you want to have their mix ceviche that's a plus! Their Jamaica is a must in my book. Once again much love and respect to the staff and will be coming back for more great stuff in the future.“

“Came here on a birthdsy friendly date night recommend by my foodie girlfriend. First thing you'll notice is the ambiance, I loved it. Our service was excellent. Now, as a fine dinning chef myself we can get into the food.

Baked Oysters, perfectly cooked, flavor profile, meh. Tuna Tostada, too small and under seasoned. Roast Pork, is so close to perfect. Cocnut rice was lovely as well. Drinks are creative and fun. Desserts were decent. The bad? Portion sizes are a joke. And it's likely you'll have to eat again, after already having eaten here.

My thoughts? Overall, a fun experience, especially as our server was awesome and honestly made some good suggestions. The food is fun, well executed and very creative. The decore and over all ambiance is dope. My compliments to the chef for having balls enough to push elevated cuisine in new directions. 🤌“
