“This was the BEST food I've had in years. I sat there and literally closed my eyes so I could savor the experience and feel ever morsel move through my body. We had the Richmond Roll and the Pink Lady. The vegetarian options are so delicious that I am going to go back over and over again just to try everything on the menu. I literally stopped my conversation because I was having such a spiritual experience with the food. I could not focus on anything other than enjoying it. The customer service was incredible. The staff was so friendly and kind. The presentation of the dishes is immaculate. I felt like I was getting a Michelin star quality meal.

“the older lady is extremely rude. we were looking at the menu and told her we needed more time to order. and as she was walking away she said “oh my god. what are you reading? a bible?”. shes rude every time we come in, no manners and always slamming stuff on the table. dont get a job in customer service if you have an attitude 24/7.

“We arrived at 4:50pm on a rainy Sunday and waited ~45mins to get seated (group of 3). The restaurant’s capacity can accommodate 28 guests and they were very efficient with their process (i.e. they took note of group size in line, made sure people reviewed the menu before getting seated, and they had an one-hour limit). Our service was quick. We had both the signature and spicy versions of Tori Paitan, and spicy lamb ramen. Also an order of their seasonal Hokkaido uni and A5 wagyu hand roll. The broth of all 3 ramens was rich, full of umami. Spice added more to the flavor but almost non-existent on the heat front. Chashu was a great balance of fatty part and meat. The fried shaved carrots and eggplant in the lamb ramen were such a pleasant touch to the bowl of perfectly chewy ramen. The A5 wagyu was buttery and melted in your mouth good. Uni was just okay - I had higher expectations with Hokkaido uni. The sushi rice was a bit on the dry side as well. All being said, I’d still say this is a place I would return.“

Having spent the first half of our life in Montréal, Québec, Canada where it was hard to find a bad restaurant, we were absolutely amazed by this Bistro which looks more like a high end dining experience. The menu online & the photos attracted us to this location but we were amazed by the well timed service, the crisp white tablecloths, the table setting and the pleasant and calm atmosphere. My choices of charcuterie platter was perfectly sized; the chicken & the pork rillettes where a wonderful surprise. My husband had an onion tart with the crust as perfect as they get & which I envied. He loved his halibut, moist and tender and I raved over my grilled half lobster, so tender that I found myself munching on the shell parts as well. My bread pudding was not of overwhelming size & perfectly flavored. Don chose the Affogato (scoop of vanilla gelato « drowned » with a shot of hot espresso). Watching each nigiri being prepared and served directly to you adds warmth and intention that elevates the meal. The table seating is more comfortable, especially for a longer dinner, but the experience feels slightly less engaging.

Some of the nigiri were truly outstanding. The coffee-cured bluefin and the chocolate-cured ocean trout were both memorable and creative without being gimmicky. The toro tuna belly was also excellent—rich, clean, and perfectly balanced.

Same-day reservations were possible on both visits, which is a big plus for an omakase of this caliber in San Francisco. Overall, Akiko’s offers high-quality sushi and a reliable experience, with the bar seating being the way to go if you want the best version of the omakase.“
