“I’d rate Soba Izakaya Minami one of south OC’s best izakaya. Their small portion (Japanese tapas) are delicious and served very fast. Don’t forget to order the Orion beer draft if you’re a beer lover!“

“Our food was very good, both traditional and Americanized menu items. On our last visit I think there was a staffing change over just after we ordered our food. Our server took our order, delivered most of our food and then was gone. After the meal we waited for over 45 minutes for someone to check in on our party. When we asked for boxes and the check it felt like the server was irritated that we had asked. I'm not sure there was communication between the staff going off shift and those remaining on site. With so much competition in this area, this kind of misstep is unfortunate.“

“Located in same shopping center as trader Joe's.
Cozy, a bit more modern feel than the one in Anaheim. Still with their famous sesame bread.
Came here on a very rainy day, and on this visit I tried some staples of Taiwanese cafes.
Sesame bread: fantastic texture. Crispy on outside, and inside, chewy and rich with plenty of green onion. A MUST GET.
beef roll (beef wrap): very tender beef and so much green onion. Comes with a side of hoisin sauce but has plenty of flavor to stand on its own.
Beef noodle soup: a luxurious, rich broth with just the slightest kick. Something you may not be used to: The hand cut noodles are very very thick- Like spaetzle thick. They are quite enjoyable, but if you're hoping for more noodle chewy, I would try the regular noodles. Overall, the flavor of the soup and the beef cannot be beat!
Will definitely visit again to try the lamb, and would definitely recommend.“

They serve some good porridge (some combo is very creative lol) but good!!
And the portion is nice too!
I really like that they have outdoor seating options so we can bring our dog! :))“

“kindness. Moved to Irvine from the San Gabriel area. In comparison, the food here is delicious and the price is very reasonable. It feels cheap and the food tastes delicious. Of course, it may be that I am too hungry. Overall, I am very satisfied with this meal. Good reviews. Will come again.“

“Hidden gem for Thai food. The quiet and nondescript building doesn't bear witness to the quality of food served.
Very genuine food and polite servers who aim to please.
We shared the Pad See-Ew with Pork and Yellow Curry with Chicken and rice. We also ordered the rare Mango Sticky Rice.
This is highly recommended but save room for dessert. The meals are hearty and the mango and sticky rice are plentious.
Service is excellent and helpful.
The atmosphere is very authentic with the ongoing elephant theme throughout.“

“I was surprised to see this restaurant has so many glowing reviews and a high overall rating, as it didn’t live up to the hype for us—twice.
We first tried it back in 2021 and left unimpressed, but after hearing so much praise from others, we decided to give it another chance today. Unfortunately, the experience was very similar.
The food is solidly mediocre and lacks any standout flavors or quality. The beef noodle soup and wonton soup were the biggest disappointments—they tasted quite bland, with little depth in the broth and nothing particularly memorable about the ingredients or seasoning. The other dishes we ordered felt equally ordinary, nothing that would make me recommend it over countless other similar spots.“
“The freshly boiled bone broth here is legit, like super rich and full of depth. You can tell they don’t cut corners—just feels real. Flavor? Totally authentic, reminds me of Yunnan-style dishes I’ve had before. Prices are solid too, which is great for students like me trying to eat well without spending too much. Portions felt generous, and it’s just overall good value.“

“GREAT food! Some of the best ramen I've had.
Vegetarian and vegan options - if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions definitely let them know when you're ordering so they can accommodate. One of the included ramen toppings is narutomaki (fish cake) even if you get the vegetarian/vegan broth; so if you tell them what you can/can't have when you order they can relay it to the kitchen :) . The service is great and everyone is friendly and happy to help! It's a busy, cute, place but the bar seating is comfortable and they are quick to get you taken care of.
Shoutout to their yummy matcha ice cream cone as well <3“

“You can enjoy dim sum without having to wait in long lines like at Din Tai Fung. A cozy, small, typical Chinese restaurant. I had beef noodle soup and pan-fried dumplings, both delicious with absolutely no gamey taste. At the corner of the opened kitchen, three old ladies were constantly rolling out dumpling wrappers. No wonder they're so fresh.“

“The service here is so nice and fast. You can’t beat the lunch special deals! ($10-13 for entree with soup and salad) I love coming here for lunch, I want to try all their deals haha. If I didn’t make it for the lunch specials I would definitely try one of their specialty rolls!“

“Very good food. Many choices on menu. Downside is they are very hard to get on phone. Also the hours they have posted online, even on this page, show “OPEN” Sunday, when we found out the hard way they are indeed NOT open. Please change your online presence to state correct days/hours. Including Yelp. This would be very helpful. Other than that, I give it “2 Thumbs up”.“

“I have been eating here since 2002 while still in high school. First time ever eating Pho here. These 3 Viet guys from my classes introduced me to Pho at this place. Been going here whenever I’m craving Pho or Viet food in the Irvine area. The most flavorful Pho broth out of any Viet restaurant I’ve ever ate in California.“

“Delicious food! I highly recommend the filet mignon over fried rice. Excellent fried rice! Also, I am not usually into chicken nuggets but here they are extremely crunchy, juicy and the taste of the fried batter was addictive. Very casual basic atmosphere but do not be fooled!“

“My favorite place for Thai food. The taste is always on point. Smaller menu than other Thai restaurants but everything is good and fresh. Service is quick and friendly. The ambiance is cozy and tastefully decorated. Small cafe type restaurant, no frills, just good food. They were under rennovation for a while but recently opened up for dining again. I saw a lot of people order carry outs while I was there.“

“Ordering is a little confusing. There is a monitor that allows you the option of dine in or carryout. But then you need to go to front to pay before they make the order.
Food was ok. Yellow rice was a little dry, and the chicken thigh was tough and dry. Egg rolls were very good. People were very nice. Probably should have gotten the pho.“

“We have been going to Niko Niko for 10 years now. We love the restaurant and the community and the friends we made there I would definitely recommend this place, the food is amazing and the owners are very accommodating to the costumers needs. Love you Niko Niko family. My youngest daughter was so in love with their miso soup that they named an specific to go order with her name. “Christiana style”.“

“We ate at Pho So 1 in Lake Forest and ordered a few dishes, including brisket pho, BBQ spring rolls (#4), vermicelli bowl (#89), and #57. The total came to about $72, which felt a bit pricey—but the food was tasty.
The BBQ rolls were our favorite,.
Dish #89 was light and refreshing. It’s perfect for a warm day for anyone who prefers clean flavors.
Dish # 57 was just okay.
Service was quick, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Overall, it’s a solid spot for Vietnamese food if you don’t mind spending a bit more. We’ll definitely be back.“

“I am allergic to shrimp, and today I decided to have an udon soup here. My sincere congratulations and endless thanks to the staff who took care of me tonight at the bar. They remade my order from scratch to make sure there was no cross-contamination, and the manager personally supervised the preparation of my udon soup to ensure it was completely safe. Thank you so much, I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant!“

“Robata Wasa at the Irvine Spectrum is such a solid spot if you’re craving quality sushi with a fun, energetic vibe. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels elevated but still relaxed. dim lighting, modern decor, and a lively buzz that makes it perfect for a night out with friends or a casual date night.
The fish is incredibly fresh. You can taste the quality immediately, buttery salmon, clean and slightly sweet hamachi, and melt-in-your-mouth toro that doesn’t need anything extra. Every piece of nigiri was balanced and beautifully presented, and you can tell they really take pride in their seafood selection.
Service was also top-tier. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They checked in at the perfect times and gave great recommendations without being pushy.
Overall, Robata Wasa delivers on all fronts, fresh fish, creative dishes, great service, and a cool atmosphere right in the heart of the Spectrum. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.“

“Very family style, large portion and authentic Chinese food featuring various Chinese food options. The cold dishes are good choices.
You sit yourself, choose from the menu, and order from the front. They will deliver food for you. You may need to get your own utensils at very busy times.
Portion size may be too large for 2 people, so expect to get a take out box (or get your own box).“

“What is there to complain about? I always come by whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Still one of the few deals thats under $10 for an actual meal.Their Pork Cutlet Curry ($9.25+tax) is my go-to for its volume and the home-y feeling it gives you.The gentleman at the front gingerly took my order and my food came out ~10mins. Mind you, this was on a Tuesday afternoon (2pm)I prefer this locaction sometimes compared to its sister location in Costa Mesa. The choices here are limited, but you get the quiet and convenience.Tip: There's a parking in the back corner of the mall where you have direct access to the food court instead of parking and walking through the front. If you can find it...“

“Pretty good ramen and sushi. Our group ordered the tonkotsu black and spicy miso ramen. Both were very flavorful and filling. We also order the salmon bento box and chicken katsu with curry. Both the bento boxes were good, but katsu seemed a little dry. It's better with the curry, but I wouldn't order it again. The sushi was great. We got the baked salmon roll and crunch fire roll. Both were fresh and delicious! I would come back to try the other ramen.“

“I’ve dined at this location multiple times and have noticed the food quality continues to improve. They serve truly authentic Shanghai cuisine with a focus on balanced, subtle flavors that linger long after the meal. My personal favorite is the Sheng Jian Bao (pan-fried dumplings); they have that perfect golden, crunchy bottom and a satisfying burst of hot soup inside. Service is efficient and practical—this isn't a place for frills, but it's the perfect spot to sit down and enjoy a high-quality, honest meal.“

“I got spicy ramen (the last one in the list) and it was pretty good. The portions are adequate, I didn’t feel like I was gonna explode, but I felt comfortably full. They have a lot of vegetarian options. The prices are on the higher side though, probably due to its location. Otherwise it’s pretty good.
Vegetarian options: Almost all of their ramen have a vegetarian equivalent, and all the broth is vegetarian.
Parking: There are a lot of parking on either side of the mall.
Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on the first floor and there are no steps. Access would be easy for someone on a wheelchair.“

“Yuchun can be found inside the food court at H Mart Irvine WestPark. There are a good number of Korean food options within the food hall, but we decided on Yuchun and it was the right choice. I went with the Yuchun Signature Set which included a variety of banchan, rice, soup and bulgogi for $25.99. I paid an upcharge to substitute kalbi as my choice of protein and it did not disappoint. Simply order at the kiosk and they’ll call your number when your order is ready, but be forewarned that the tray can be on the heavier side when you pickup. The Signature Set is not the most affordable menu option, but it provides a balanced meal of Korean dishes and the portion size is hearty enough for leftovers. I’ll def be back!“

“Paik's Noodle, owned by Chef Jong Won Paik (one of the judges from Culinary Class Wars), provides korean-chinese comfort food in the H-Mart located in North Irvine. And does it deliver!!
Paik's is known for its Jajangmyeon (fermented black bean noodle stir-fry) and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Their noodles in all of their dishes are perfectly chewy, and satisfying for hearty noodle lovers. If you're new to these dishes, the noodles are like a mix between an udon and ramen noodle, typically using thick, wheat flour.
The Jajangmyeon hits that spot when you want a comforting meal with an umami punch. This dish has a perfect balance of sweet and savory (more on the savory side), with flavors oozing from caramelized onions, the salty, smoky, and decadent fermented black bean, and a generous portion of elongated ground pork adding a nice meaty touch. For meat lovers, you can order this with extra meat, and for vegetarians, they offer the dish without meat at all. They even have a seafood version of this dish!
The Jjampong uses the same noodles, swimming in a spicy broth infused with seafood umami. With muscles and chunks of tender squid and the occasional baby shrimp, the soup is so rich in flavor and satisfying.
While there are other strong dishes here, the noodles are the star. And each dish is accompanied by Korean pickled radishes to provide fresh, crisp respite between indulgent bites.
Sitting within the food court, there is no traditional service, but the staff are friendly and very quick - even during peak hours. It's easy enough to find seating, but during busy times, it's best to secure seating earlier if you can unless you plan to take the food to go.
If you're looking for comforting, filling, and delightful noodles to switch up your Asian noodle-ventures between ramens, phos, pad thai, and more, you should explore the menu at Paik's. You might just find yourself hooked by the flavors - after all, that's Chef Paik's most important criteria when judging good food.“
