“This is by far the best of the combo chinese food restaurants' orange chicken. And i really like the flavor of their chow mein, it's more garlicky than other places which are more bland. But i usually go out of my way to go here if i get the chance.“

“Back in February, my significant other and I visited California, and one of the absolute highlights of our trip was the incredible Chinese food we had. From the very first bite, we knew we were in for something special. The flavors were bold, authentic, and perfectly balanced — you could taste the care and tradition in every dish.
The noodles had that perfect chewy texture, and the sauces were rich without being overpowering. We still talk about the crispy fried chicken wings OMG!!!! — perfectly seasoned with skin so crisp it crackled — and the way the stir-fried vegetables kept their fresh crunch while soaking up all the flavor.
The staff was warm, the service was quick, and the atmosphere had that perfect mix of comfort and culture. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience that stuck with us. We’ve had Chinese food plenty of times, but this spot raised the bar.
If we ever go back to California, we’re making a beeline straight back there. 10/10 — truly unforgettable!“

“This place is clean, welcoming, and the price is reasonable especially the half and half combos . Service was outstanding—both the owner and waiter were very friendly and attentive.
The jjajangmyun was especially good, and the half and half combo had generous portions. Loved how they sealed the sauce for takeout—no spills! Great spot for dine-in or takeout.“

“This location is always busy. However, they can always manage regardless of situation. Quelly, the counter person is very accommodating, she even suggested the right order for the family. They always wear a smile. The whole crew were happy during our stay in the dining. They also gave us coupon for the next visit. Thank you, Chowking!“

“This was our first visit here and we really enjoyed the food. To start we had the crispy crab/cream cheese wontons. They were creamy and full of chunks of crab meat. For dinner we shared the Sweet & Sour pork, Mongolian Beef and the Veggie Low Mein. It was all super tasty! The low mein had tons of freshly sautéed carrots, brocolli, zuchini, cabbage and snow peas in a great sauce. The Mongolian beef was super thin and tender sautéed with green onion in a rich sauce. The sweet and sour pork was very traditional but you could see and taste the quality... no skimpy cuts of pork or over breading! I was wonderful! The manager (or owner, not sure) was offering a free garlic noodle dish to any table with a check over $50... we had never tried garlic noodles before but they were so simple but so rich with a buttery garlic sauce that they paired perfectly with the rich sauces of the other dishes. Service and atmosphere was wonderful. We will be back to try more! *Bonus they had a large TV (no sound but with subtitles) playing the World Series!
Vegetarian options: The table next to us was a large all vegetarian group. They had tons of options on thier table which they all seemed to enjoy.
Parking: Parking available behind the restaurant with a direct back entrance.“

“I order from No. 1 Chef often via Postmates. Something went wrong this time (not their fault, their computers were down), so my hubby and I took a quick trip to pick up our order. The lady was SOOOO nice and helpful over the phone. With that said, the food here is top notch! When I need comfort food, I get the egg flower soup and dumplings. The soup is ALWAYS hot and fresh and just feels like a hug. I've also ordered the egg fu yun, and trust this place is NOT stingy on the portions. Everything I've had has never disappointed. Yes, it may look like a hole in the wall, but if you want the kind of Chinese food that satisfies, give this place a try.“

“One of the best Jajangmyeon I've ever had!Jajangmyeon is a Korean-Chinese dish of thick noodles covered in a rich, fermented black bean sauce and served with vegetables and pork. The savory, salty, and slightly sweet dish is a cultural icon in Korea, often associated with childhood memories and special occasions. The noodles are made fresh which makes it extra special. The Chicken in Spicy Garlic sauce is a perfect accompaniment with it's tangy crunchy chewy spicy taste! This is the type of place that
will be your go to for Korean Chinese dishes! Nothing fancy on inside but super clean and super friendly staff!“

“Best steam table Chinese I've ever had. The only lady behind the counter was efficient with the line that was in there.
Bbq pork was tender and delicious, grab some hot mustard. The orange chicken is something we don't usually order but was great here, still crunchy. Egg foo young was made fresh to order and surprisingly wonderful, airy and the best use of water chestnuts I've seen. The lady even chopped it up for us with a huge cleaver so it was easier to eat. The fried rice has chunks of bbq pork and egg and the chow mein had chicken and egg. They have both Sriracha and chili oil. It was enough food for two plus leftovers
It's been open for forty years and is inside a cute, kitchy building. Parking lot is tiny and one way, enter from KFC around the corner“

“You need to eat here!!
Sunny Express has both Chinese and Mexican vegan food and it is SO GOOD!
I got the orange nuggets (a small is 8!!) And the habanero wings, which are shredded chikn wrapped around sugarcane 'bones'. Incredibly flavorful and satisfying if you miss real meat.
I also got a hibiscus steak burrito, their carrot cake, almond cookies (not vegan, but very delicious) and chileqilles for breakfast.
I will absolutely be visiting here next time I'm in the area. Guilo was so sweet, and I'm happy that there's such good vegan food with amazing flavor in Compton!“

“I really like this restaurant… I ordered pork egg foo young and it is NOT egg patties with gravy. When I called and was asked if I ordered it before and its made differently from other restaurants. It would be nice to have this as the description so customers are aware before ordering and getting home you something less desirable!!! I do appreciate the opportunity to return my item, so i had to edit my original post.“

“One of my favorites places when we don’t know what to eat. First time we ate here was probably because another restaurant had a long wait and we randomly tried it out.
Parking can be difficult in this old plaza depending on the hours. Seating usually doesn’t take too long.
One of the best things about this places is the noodles. House made, can be adjusted to your liking. They’re perfectly chewy and have a nice texture to them.
When I first visited, one of my favorites places dishes here was the kung pao chicken. It used to be very unique, fried super crispy before mixed with the carrot, peanuts, peppers, and other bits. On our recent trip, it’s seems like they completely changed the recipe, it’s on the sweet side, no carrots or other veggies and peanuts were just added on top. I lost one of my favorite dish here, would never order the current kung pao chicken again.
Not pictured or ordered since it was a hot day, but one of my favorites is their beef noodle sou. It’s a great comfort dish with excellent flavor and good portions of meat and veggies
All of their dry noodles or cold noodles are delicious as well.
One of their house specialty entrees I really enjoyed and will order again is the spicy spare ribs. Super crispy, good spices. Might be a bit on the oily side, but it’s delicious.
XLB are good, not the best but perfectly fine. Juicy and good flavor.
Cold cuts are good as an appetizer, you can choose however many you want and portions are good.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. I would say they get swamped a bit during busy hours as they handle tables and also take out orders.“

“I normally would get egg Fu young for my mom. Lately they're over cooking and it's hard dry and barely any sauce is put on the fu young. They're rude whenever you call in to complain. To me they're dropping off on the quality of their food cooking since it's more Hispanic cooking your ordered. I'm going back to 103 rd where the food is much better. Instead of telling me to come back and correct my order they were so rude. I'll miss the meat egg rolls but food wise nope! They're about the same. Nothing changes except the quality in the food. I found a better spot down at 103rd St. Food is great“

“My wife and I ate here on a whim, and it did not disappoint. We were on a time crunch so we decided to takeout. The three cup chicken and short rib dan mein were big hits in our house. Dumplings were also excellent. We look forward to dining at the restaurant again! Keep up the good work!
Parking: Parking is more than sufficient as it is shared with the shopping plaza.“

“First timer. Recently moved to the area and was looking for a nice Chinese food spot. Decided to try and they did not disappoint. The female worker was so accommodating. It was 30 min before closing and they cooked up our food fresh. The orange chicken was on point. Besides the food we also tried the Matcha Green Tea and Thai tea Boba so delish. Will be returning soon. Definitely recommend.“

“Food - pretty good but not great
Service - nice people but minimal service
Ambiance - clean and comfortable
I have been to many Northern Cafes and have been looking forward to this one. I noticed most of the reviews were about dumplings and realized this one is more specialized for dumplings (boiled, pan-fried and steamed XLB varieties.
I was hoping for the noodle specialties like the one in Gardena (which is my favorite in the region, 10 min more drive for me).
We ordered:
- crab dumplings- steamed, XLB style, it was pretty good
- lamb dumplings- pan fried, it was ok, a little oily
- beef noodle soup- it was ok, they only served with thin noodles, we preferred other handmade varieties at the Gardena store
We also ordered the beef rolls to go, it looked exact like the ones shown on the poster, ha ha.
Overall, pretty good if you are hungry dumplings!“

“This place has been around for so many years, which is usually a sign of a great restaurant, especially in this economy! Anyway, we've been coming here for years, longer than we've even lived in Torrance, everyone loves the food whenever we get it. They have the best Szechuan eggplant I've probably ever had, as well as great soups, eggrolls, and the different chicken dishes we've tried are always just as good! Szechuan chicken, Kung pao chicken, and they have a very unique teriyaki chicken, which is actually really good also!“

“Great food great service the man who made my food who I assume was the owner was so nice I've been looking for my favorite dish which is Singapore Mei Fun and I've called every Chinese restaurant in Carson and everyone tells me they don’t make it or they have some fat noodle that they call rice noodles, but this man knew exactly what I wanted and made the best dish that I’ve ever had in my life. This is my new place. I love this place and I love the food and the great service and the great prices. also, it was the first Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to with a Christmas tree, which was cool Thank you and God bless.“

“Me and the the fam do laundry across the street so naturally the wife want her Starbucks. Always passed by this place and it just caught my eye. Don’t know why. I took a menu from the spot and kept it in the glove compartment for some time. One day I was coming down from some acid and was hungry like a mofo. Oh before I say anything more I must mention that when I saw the menu I saw they had shrimp fried rice and that is all it took to seal the deal. However, I am VERY SKETCH on my shrimp fried rice. I only get it from one spot and it’s been like that for around 13 years. Anywho. Coming down from that and I said “screw it! Let’s try it” got the shrimp fried rice and the lunch special of orange chicken. The sfr was dank! Wont compare it to the other but honestly I was impressed. My wife said the orange chicken was ok and that the chicken was hard. I tried it I loved the sauce and the fried rice…well I had just tried it so no difference. I told her that I kinda saw that coming from the chicken bc of the big menu that they have so that is the only negative but I will definitely mess with this place again! Oh the service was quick and straight to the point. The way it should be.“

“This is a small family owned restaurant. The Mongolian is great - they give you the option of soy sauce or teriyaki sauce and cook it to order. You pay by the pound so be mindful as you stack your bowl, however, the price is very reasonable. I usually get multiple meals out of 1 order. The grill is well maintained and always clean.“

“Chinese takeout spot with a VERY toned down Szechuan spice. Came here for late night food and the lady was so nice!!! Dishes I recommend are string beans,Kung Pao chicken, and string beans. Im Chinese and thought the spicy szechuan chicken wasnt spicy at all, more like takeout style than actual szechuan. All the dishes need more garlic, onion, szechuan peppers, and chilli peppers to qualify as authentic szechuan food. Chilli oil on the condiments was too pickley. No this is not authentic szechuan food where everything is stir fried in mountains of spices. This is more like above average Chinese takeout with a twist and the service is excellent. Very good prices.“

“Great place to stop in for good food. The ladies behind the counter are super nice and friendly. I always get orange chicken and theirs did not disappoint. “I give the simple look 5 stars because I like small areas to eat while still enjoying my privacy away from work, and if I need a different scenery to work on my laptop. Also, the environment reminded me of my family. Food is not greasy, and there are healthy alternatives. Parking is tight, but there is street parking available. Most customers came for take outs, so I was able to find seating.
Parking: Spaces are tight to maneuver in or out that 1 vehicle can move through the corridor to exit. Just be aware if others are moving out of their spots. Since most customers are doing takeouts, you can find a spot. You can parallel park on the streets since it's quicker than maneuvering through the parking lot.“

“Delicious! The new management gave the interior a much needed facelift but the more important thing is the food is still high standard (maybe the chef is the same?) The tofu with century egg is really good with the chili sauce as were the beef rolls. The beef noodle soup was a bit un-inspired but not bad.“

“After hearing so many locals online talk about this place I had to try it out. I was only ordering for myself but intended on having leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I was suggested to try their special for two for $25.99 which includes 2 fried and/or white rice, 2 entrees, soup and 2 egg rolls (I opted for no soup and 4 egg rolls). The order is made to order so it's not sitting under a heat lamp. Service was great and the cashier/cook was very nice. I had the garlic shrimp and kung pao chicken and the portions are very generous.
Inside is very spacious with plenty of seating.
Next time I'm craving some fresh Chinese food with nice portions at a great price I'll definitely be back since it's down the street from me.
Forgot to mention they don't take cash but they take credit cards and Apple Pay!“

“Easily one of the best Chinese Fast Food locations around. The food is flavorful, plentiful, and fresh.
