“I found this new BBQ pop-up in Lakewood at the YMCA and I can’t say enough good things about it. From the kindness of the family that runs it, to the delicious food. Last week I had the 3 meat plate (I chose brisket, pork belly and chicken) which came with 2 sides and it was only $28! The brisket and pork belly were SO tender and juicy and had an amazing flavor! Earlier today I had the one meat plate with chicken, this coleslaw that is probably the best I’ve ever tasted, and their brisket chow mein. So good! Everything is homemade down to the sauces and they have things like burritos and Texas toast brisket grilled cheese. It’s called Axiom Kitchen. Husband, wife and kids and so kind…they made us feel so special. We haven’t had service like that in a long time. I know they are at the Lakewood YMCA on Sundays and I think Fridays and they are at another location on Thursday but I’m not sure where.“

This was my first time at Broken Spirits distillery. Came oodles of times at Portuguese Bend distillery so it the restaurant is similar yet different at the same time. Major differences for me: I feel like this is more of a BBQ based restaurant/distillery with all the meat on the menu. (Don't get me wrong, I love the meat!). We ordered and shared the 16 oz prime New York steak ($44.99) which also comes with two sides! This is a killer deal that I would def come back for. For sides we got broccolini and fried Brussels. ( Alone they're $7 side). TBH, I kind of enjoyed the sides a bit more than the entree itself, but both were great.

Cocktails were yummy too as they were about avg price for LA county at $14 each. Came fast and tasted great!

There is plenty of seating inside and service was great. Parking is close in the garage across the street if there is no street parking.

“Excellent food. I had the chilaquiles con huevos.. they were On Point! Very delicious and crispy. The lady at the counter was extremely nice and made sure I was taken care of it had everything I needed. I will make this my go-to location on 4th street in Long Beach!“

“This spot is within a food hall and I love these setups because of the amount of food options available.

I ordered their bulgogi burrito with no rice along with their Korean spicy popcorn chicken. The burrito was phenomenal and one of the best burritos I’ve ever had. A bulgogi bowl but put into a wrap and the popcorn chicken was solid. Overall both items were delicious.

I’d definitely come back to try their other menu items and overall it was an excellent lunch!

I also tried their make your own salad bowl with salmon, chicken and bulgogi. It was excellent and overall delicious bowl with a great sauce.“

“I've tried just about everything on the menu at Shady Grove Foods and nothing disappoints. I can close my eyes and put my finger on the menu and I would be happy wherever it landed. I had Sticky Bones again tonight and I'm as thrilled as the first time I tried them and all the other times I've had them and in fact I feel like tonight's were the best ever. I seriously enjoy their food and hospitality. The hardest part is driving back to Cal Heights without opening the box and start eating. But I’ll tell you, it’s Robert Earl’s wife that’s the featured item here. She is genuinely sweet and caring and truly wants you to love their food. We enjoyed talking to her during our visit. “First time eating here and we had a positive experience. My husband and kid both had the regular katsu curry plates and I had a regular size Loco moco. They ate their whole plates and I only ate half, trying to save room for ice cream at Afters next door. I would say I enjoyed my plate except for the ground beef patties were tough. I wish they were more tender like burger patties at fast food restaurants, but the gravy was better than all of the other local Hawaiian style restaurants around since it tasted real and not from a can or dry mix taste like other places. The macaroni salad was yummy too. Reasonably priced with generous portions, we would definitely come back to try other menu items!“
