“Falafel rice bowl: crispy outside, moist inside. Red and green spicy sauces. Not enough tahini dip with serving. Rice a bit watery. Babaganoush eggplant very tasty and white pita large and fluffy. Mint lemonade is very tasty with much fresh mint leaves gratis cole slaw vinegar based Good vegan options all around. Wasn't sure about if the pita was vegan. Gluten free pita not vegan after checking. Slow service, apologized for the wait taking order. Same for parties after me. Food came out all together quickly though. Very few service people. She didn't have time to check back if everything okay. Delayed getting the check. Friendly service but way understaffed. Sasha the only waitress and only hostess which caused delayed seating and service. Manager came to seat people later. Toast checkout after she finally came back.“

“Perfect place for a date night. It is usually packed but we love sitting at the bar. The food is delicious. We usually get the mezze platter and octopus. We’ve also tried the kunefe (small but really yummy). We love the atmosphere here as the bartender and waiters are super nice and they generally leave us to ourselves (a refreshing change from most American places where you get interrupted quite a lot). The decoration is beautiful too. All in all: I definitely recommend Dunya.“

“I tried their falafel sandwich (wrap) and it was the best. My mom and friends tried both their chicken and beef shawarma and said they were so good.

My friends didn't like their tabula though and we were a little concerned about the cleanliness of the place.

“I smelled it before I got there no always looking for “the right food cooked by the right people!” I had a bowl with chicken which I could cut with a the plastic spoon 😍 with rice and lentils very flavorful too with the Israel salad all that flavor in one bowl was the best by far! My friend who’s vegan was very satisfied had a falafel bowl which she started eating as we walked down the street! She had smashed it by the time we made to the tables at Union Square. “My wife, son and myself went to dinner tonight and food was absolutely amazing. Staff were polite and friendly and full of enthusiasm about the food. The braised lamb shank melted in your mouth and the greek salad was so refreshing and the tomatoes were so fresh that I felt I was in a garden picking them myself. The green hummus was full of fresh herbs and I didn't know what to expect but luckily the owner brought a complimentary plate out because I was so full from all the food we got that I felt guilty for not being able to finish it.“

“Our party of four came on a Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. Neighborhood parking is a bit challenging due to the popularity of the area with all the businesses there, but we found a 2 hr. spot (enforced until 9pm) after a couple loops. We ordered the house sampler plate, shish kabob, beet salad, the zahara bil tahini (cauliflower), halloumi, chicken shawarma, and for dessert, we had kanafeh, qatayef, halawa o buza. Everything, including the complimentary Palestinian dips with pita chips, was absolutely delicious- fresh and beautifully presented. It was hard to pick a favorite but I really liked the cauliflower! Two members of my party ordered a mocktail called Cinderella, and they were raving about it. The food was so good that we forgot to take pictures; we were too excited. I did remember while we were waiting for dessert, so there is one dessert picture in this review.

Our server, Lina, was attentive and very kind, and the other servers and staff were also very nice, professional, and polite. It was obvious that the staff wanted us to have a wonderful evening and we truly did. It is a very welcoming restaurant with lovely decor, excellent food and nice people. We can’t wait to come back and try more items!“

For appetizers we tried the prawns in tomato sauce and the bacon, onion and cheese crepe, and for our entrees we tried the beef bourguignon and a side order of fries with aioli.
