“I got the chilaquiles with green sauce which came with potatoes, and it was delicious! My friend got a papusa plate with rice and beans and seemed to enjoy it. It was a good portion of food (I ended up taking half of mine home), and the service was great. They also have a parking lot, which was really convenient.“

“A Flavorful Journey to Zacatecas: A True Taste of Authentic Mexican Cuisine Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cecilia's Zacatecas Mexican Restaurant, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. As soon as I walked through the door, I was captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The aroma of freshly prepared spices filled the air, instantly transporting me to the heart of Mexico. Cecilia's dedication to preserving the authentic flavors of Zacatecas cuisine shines through in every dish. The menu is a treasure trove of traditional delights, showcasing her expertise in crafting delectable recipes. The Birria, a slow-cooked stew bursting with rich flavors, was an absolute standout. Each spoonful was a heavenly blend of tender meat, aromatic spices, and a hint of smokiness. It was a true testament to the care and passion that goes into Cecilia's cooking. Another must-try at this restaurant is the Zacatecas-style Gorditas. These handheld delights are made with love and expertise, with a perfectly fluffy masa exterior encasing a variety of mouthwatering fillings. Whether you opt for savory meats or flavorful vegetarian options, each bite is a symphony of textures and tastes that will leave you craving more. To complement the meal, Cecilia offers traditional Mexican beverages that are as refreshing as they are authentic. The Café de la Olla is a fragrant and invigorating cup of coffee brewed with cinnamon and piloncillo, giving it a unique twist. And the Agua de Horchata, a rice and cinnamon-based drink, provides a soothing and creamy accompaniment to the vibrant flavors of the food. It's clear that Cecilia's passion for cooking stems from her upbringing and the invaluable knowledge passed down to her by her mother. Her dedication to preserving the culinary traditions of Zacatecas is evident in every plate she serves. Not only does she deliver exceptional food, but her warmth and welcoming nature also create an inviting ambiance that makes dining at her restaurant a truly memorable experience. In addition to her culinary prowess, Cecilia's persistence as a Latina business owner deserves applause. It is inspiring to see her success and how she has brought a taste of Zacatecas to our community. Supporting local businesses like Cecilia's is a way to celebrate culture and diversity while enjoying incredible food.“

“My fave place to grab n go some homemade muy rico tamales! It's literally a window you order at, limited street parking, but you can get thicc delicious tamales hot and ready to eat or to keep for another day. They last a week in the fridge. But mine never last that long. Chicken is my fave, the cheese is good too. Veggies is my least fave but I still like it! Huge portions. Quality people and hearty tamales. Go get you some from Tamaleria Azteca!“

“The tacos and everything are very good, they just have to improve the issue of the lemons, where they buy them, because they don't have anything sumo, and you only ask and order lemon because they don't add any sumo, but otherwise the food and the tacos I love them“

They moved in and painted the place bright pink. They replaced another favorite that was not able to survive COVID.
If you get take out, check you got your chips, they love to leave those out of your bag. 5 stars if not for the many bags of missing chips.“

“If you’re in the mood for birria, look no further. This spot has such tender and flavorful birria that it may or may not make you forget all past birrias you’ve tried.
Victor is the chef and owner behind La Santa Torta and he has an obvious love for what he does, which honestly makes the food taste better. He made our tacos super quickly too.
If you like spicy, ask for the red sauce!
Their brick and mortar location has closed, but you can find them on 1025 3rd st in Oakland.“

“I am extremely impressed by this taqueria as a taqueria enjoyer, lifelong. I have never seen a taqueria with such an abundant drink selection. Tons of beers and also sodas, along with a wonderful selection of delicious desserts.
The service was the fastest I've ever experienced. He made my supreme burrito in probably about 3 minutes or less. It was incredible. This makes this a very efficient spot for a lunch break. And the burrito is huge and stuffed to the point of feeling firm. Wonderfully wrapped, And the man working the cash register and wrapping the burrito was extremely friendly and polite. Nothing bad at all to say about this place, except maybe that there's limited seating. But that's a very minor issue.
Overall, one of the best taqueria is I've ever been to.“
“What an incredible treat to experience--AND it's situated conveniently in a residential area for accessibility!
The churros are delicious in their own or with a variety of fillings. My favorite is the caramelo (caramel) filling that's made with goat milk. (It's like dulce de leche but warrrrrm.)
The people who run it are also the owners, which means they're invested in creating a friendly, community atmosphere and gladly cater to special requests.
Be prepared to pay either cash, use Zelle or get cash back from the nearby Mexican grocer. There's no option for card payments!“

“My first time trying Mexican food!!
If you are into original non glamorous places with fantastic food, THIS WILL BE UP YOUR ALLEY! This is a family own restaurant with a full service bar adjacent room. The micheladas are insane! They have cool variety of imported beer and local to choose. The birria go some and the tiny been tacos will blow your mind.
Just watch out for the life mariachi bands if you don’t like loud music.“

“Growing up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I was totally spoiled by the food — especially the green chile and red chile that you just can’t replicate anywhere else. Even though I’m a California native by birth, I spent my most formative years in New Mexico, and that shaped my palate in a permanent way.
Over the last 20 years living in the Bay Area, I’ve been on a quiet mission: every time a friend from high school or middle school in New Mexico came to visit, I’d try to find a restaurant here that could even remotely live up to what we were raised on. I’d take them to places I thought might pass muster — and every time, they were politely disappointed. So was I.
But today changed everything.
I think I may have just found the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever experienced in California — hands down. And no, I’m not exaggerating.
🌮 Taqueria La Comales Mexican Grill in Oakland
• 🌶️ They will make it spicy if you want it — not just California-spicy, but real-deal chile heat.
• 🥑 Fresh, high-quality ingredients that taste home-cooked, not mass-produced.
• 💸 Extremely affordable — the kind of value that’s almost impossible to find in the Bay now.
• 🫓 Authentic flavor — I mean it. The chile here sings. It reminded me of home.
If you grew up on Hatch green chile and are constantly chasing that familiar, soulful flavor, this is your spot. I can’t even tell you how good it felt to finally taste something that honored where I come from.“

“Home Sweet Home in a Mexican Restaurant. Small but quaint. Always greeted with smiles and a warm Holla or Hello. With food being chopped, cooked and prepared right in front of you, you feel like your at home with grandma while the smell of food is coming. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. On point! They feed The Bay.“

“I've been going to La Mexicana for decades and they've never disappointed me! They make their own tortillas and the meals are hearty and flavorful. You will never leave this place still hungry and the people who work here are super-friendly. They also have a small parking lot behind the restaurant if you cannot find parking along the street.“

“Probably the most affordable, bang-for-the-buck burrito and quesadilla suiza. They also make a fire bean and cheese burrito if you like to keep it simple on occasion.
I think this El Farolito and SF's seem to have pretty good quality control across the board. There is perhaps a dash or teptoo much salt in the finished product, but it definitely is sort of par for the course when it comes to a lot of takeout and sodium saturation (see Wally's Emeryville, for example - probably the saltiest meal for 20 miles).“

“The customer service is amazing, enjoyed my margarita. A friend recommended their shrimp salad so that’s my next try. And of course I can’t forget, they gifted me 2 tickets to see Joe and Tamia at the Paramount and my sister and I had an absolutely amazing time!“

“It's not bad. Tacos de tripas. The tripas are almost on point but just really depends on the person I like them a little bit crunchy.
The only downside really was the portion size and the tortilla was a bit raw it didn't fully heat up. The other downside is the sauces.
The green sauce is not hot nor does it have flavor or salt it's just smushed sauce.
And the red one almost looks like ketchup texture with no flavor either. I could taste more the grease from the taco then the sauces.
Overall I'll say it's a 4 star the first time I showed up I wasn't a fan of it but this was years ago.
Add oil to the tortillas or tortillas all vapor also hits the spot.“
