“Review by my 5-year-old: Everyday we came here was a lovely day. But one day they gave me food that was not the food I asked for. I felt so disappointed on that day and I didn't like my food. But then other days I came here I liked it. I will certainly be back.“

“Sylva is an absolute gem. Just 14 months in, this intimate restaurant has already mastered the art of creating a memorable dining experience. From the moment we walked in, everything was flawless: attentive service, inviting atmosphere, and perfectly curated music that enhanced rather than distracted.

A special note on their accommodation of dietary restrictions: my girlfriend has a unique set of food allergies, and our server had one of their chefs personally mark up the menu to clearly denote which meals would be safe. This level of care and attention is remarkably rare. We've only experienced this at a handful of other restaurants.

Now, the food. Each dish was exceptional, but a few standouts deserve special mention: the sourdough focaccia bread was extraordinary on its own, but paired with the pork loin, it became something transcendent. The scallops were the best I've ever had, perfectly seared with incredible flavor. Their burger exceeded all expectations, and the confit duck leg was absolutely stunning.

We finished with the bread pudding, which may have been the highlight of an already outstanding meal. Fresh whipped cream, rich chocolate chunks, and expert execution made it unforgettable.

Sylva is doing everything right. This is destination-worthy dining that rivals anything you'd find in a major city. Highly recommended.“

“O.K., Coming to West Shore for last 20+ years. GF has been coming to West Shore since family cabin built in McKinney Creek in 1960. This place started off a little rocky a few years back but had definitely improved like a fine wine. I am a Carb boy and LOVE any variation of their Pizza's. GF non-Carb girl but still devours their pizza. Only suggestion (which is partially our fault) is to order extra Dates on their Date Pizza. Also, the Pickle salad could use some work (however, they refunded for that). Best deal on the West Shore and Tahoe City when it comes to price and quality. We usually go to Reno for dinner because of their quality choices, but the Dog and Bear holds up against the best that Reno has to offer. Service is 5 Star!!! FYI, I am a dog lover...Especially partial to Labs.“

I spotted a church building with a small sign that said, cafe open, as I was making my way out of town with haste. Alas, I found exactly what I needed. Score, big time. It is a beautiful, tranquil space, and the sandwich I had, Ban mi (add turkey)...beyond exquisite. The lavender drink concoction was eloquent and refreshing. “Beautiful lakeside location with a nice big dog friendly patio, good draft beers brewed on-site and good pizza. The deep-dish pizza tasted better than it looked. We almost sent it back because the top and crust were pretty blackened, but I hate sending food back, so we persevered and it was better than expected. Not great, but not bad. It was $38 for a borderline burnt/mediocre medium pizza with 6 slices. My boyfriend and I each had 2 slices and 2 beers and were full. The pizza made for good leftovers as well. I enjoyed the two different draft beers I had; the amber type lager (can't recall the name) and a seasonal beer. The service in the bar area high tops was ok. Water is self-serve. They are on par with other local breweries and were very nice but nothing outstanding. Overall, a cool new-ish spot for a beer and an excellent view.“

The Italian dishes and pizzas are flavorful, with generous portions and fresh ingredients. “Last week the sun was shining all week, we decided to go skiing in Lake Tahoe since my daughter is in town. After a beautiful day skiing, we found this restaurant close to our townhouse so we had dinner here.
This place is in kinda downtown Lake Tahoe City, small parking lot, but we had parking in front due to weekday.
The restaurant is clean and the server is extremely pleasant and attentive. The menu has many of dishes that we can all enjoy. The prices are so reasonable for Tahoe.
We tried the Ahi Tower and it was so delicious, this is a must have since we finished it in a heart beat, the tuna is moist and marinated just right, we wished there're more chips with it.
My son ordered the crawfish mac'n cheese and both of my kids liked them.
I wanted to try the blacken chicken with side order of onion rings instead of fries and it's excellent, my son had half of mine.
My wife Salmon BLTA was amazingly tasty and the kids tried it and liked it too.
My daughter always liked the Cheese steak and the midtown did the trick, melted cheese steak with bread.
It's nice to try new places and we're glad we found this place. The service is great, the big portion dishes are excellent and the prices don't break the bank, what else can you ask for at a restaurant? We all voted for 5 stars.“

“The best part of this restaurant is it's environment and it's dog friendliness. We always go with Ares our JRT and you often see other dogs, on the patio. Food is good too, but I actually like my own cooking of quality meat in general.“

“This is a good place to stop and have lunch during your Northstar ski experience. However, I can't give it five stars because the prices are at least double the normal cost. That applies to everything sold here. Options for vegan or vegetarian guests are very limited. All that aside, it's a nice ski lodge, and the food is fine if you like burgers, fries, pizza, chicken tenders, etc. Lines are usually short, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is clean and tidy.“

“We were in Truckee for the day and wanted something different. This was the perfect place! Outdoor dining was amazing balls! Comfy setting, like your own outside patio. The food was exactly what we wanted! A watermelon non alcoholic spritz was so refreshing. Not sweet but more blended fruity mix. A hot tasty sandwich, perfectly crispy sweet potato fries and that day.. a velvety French onion soup. It was a different type of bread, bunch of spices and big slice of the cheese! So much cooked onions and a broth that tasted like it was cooked for hours, to get a deep rich beef taste. Staff was so friendly and nice. Will be going back to try their pizzas and salads!“

“My husband and I went for dinner and were so surprised at the quality of the drinks and food. Each item we had was delicious. We had the soup ( cream cauliflower) , and the basic salad . It was full of veggies and slivered almonds as well as pickled jicama. I had the 10 ounce filet which was seasoned beautifully and done just right over a bed of spinach and potatoes. It was surrounded by a fabulous sauce of mushrooms. My husband had the pork paparadelle that had spinach noodles, onions, and tomatoes in the sauce. It was so savory. To top it off, we shared a delicious carrot cake that was just the right sweetness. I forgot to mention the martini was perfect and the nonalcoholic drink that was made for me was the best I’ve ever had!! It was a fantastic meal!“

Decent place to chill and relax if you're hanging around the nearby beaches, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here.
