“This place makes the absolute BEST Fougasse! It is olive-y the duck fat it’s made with makes it, crisp, light, and perfectly moist. The crusty outside is lightly salted to perfection. Their pastries are also exquisite, I haven’t had anything I didn’t like, but I ALWAYS come for the Fougasse! Best to get there early when they are nice and fresh and warm and before they sell out!“

“We were gifted our first ever Bake Sum box. After trying just one bite of a Yuzu meringue bun I knew I needed more. Ordered our second BSB last week and shared amongst the roomies, huge hit. Well baked, not too sweet, great flavor combinations. 10/10 would recommend the Bake Sum box. If you can’t grab a box, you can grab al a cart day of pick ups just to tide you over until you can get a box 😋“

“Great bread and croissants at this bakery. The croissants have a combination of lamination and texture that is hard to do, as well as a great flavor. The sourdough bread is delicious and a big loaf too. You can get coffee, and sit inside or outside; the seating area is small but nice.“

“Sesame just started doing croissants and I had a plain one. It was delicious, technically perfect, lots of butter with a little tang (possibly from a sourdough element that the person there told me about). I have tried their cakes which have a lot of flavor and know-how. I had a cardamom financier I believe; it was great.“

“We wanted to try some mooncakes and decided to get a variety of items for Sunday brunch. No parking but we knew that. The lady was helpful once she figured out we were doing a brunch.

The mooncakes were mostly new flavors (e..g. lotus seed)for us. Sweet and extremely dense, think plutonium. Perhaps an acquired taste.

Pork buns were very good, also coconut and pineapple pastries. The curry beef bun was a standout. Nice alternative to usual brunch. Well worth coming back.“

“I spent about $45…for a whole bunch of yummy stuff! It’s amazing to be able to go straight to the bakery, and also kind of dangerous. You can see some of the menu on the window outside as you wait in line (there will almost always be a line), and you can peek in and see the day’s selection of breads and pastries. Only two parties at a time fit inside to order. There’s a small parking lot in front and more parking behind. I highly recommend the seasonal focaccia pizzas! An pain epi, just yum.“

“LOVE this bakery!!! Gayle and Pamela are so kind and accommodating. We asked them to make our wedding cake in their signature chocolate raspberry flavor (and to keep the natural pink frosting!). Everyone absolutely loved the cake, it couldn’t have been more perfect. They were very responsive and made sure everything was perfect for us. Their flavors are always so fresh and never fake-tasting. If I could afford it, I would go here everyday :)“

There's usually a long line for a reason! Super hot and fresh! My go-to's are the Curry Beef Buns, barbecue pork buns, custard buns, mini hot dog buns, chicken and mushroom buns. They also sell delicious egg tarts as well!“

“A friend ordered my dream cake for my 75th birthday party. The Death Star with carrot cake base. The bakery was willing to follow my Grandmother's recipe by adding golden raisins and crushed pineapple. It was beyond delicious! And the extra cake froze beautifully and is still as delicious as when first cut. The bakery did an awesome job replicating the Death Star into a cake. The cake made my birthday and everyone who attended the party thought the cake amazing. I am so grateful to Ladyfingers for making my 75th birthday so memorable. I will never forget my Death Star cake.“

“Did a special order for a birthday party, Meyer lemon cupcakes, and salted caramel cupcakes. They were all delicious and gorgeous. Every guest gushed over them. They've ruined me for any other cupcakes tbh! As I told my husband, "Now you know what to go get me next time you mess up!" Then we had the delicious bagel, later we had the yummy vanilla strawberry birthday cake. But the next day we popped the buttermilk biscuits into the oven to warm and WOW... BEST BISCUITS EVER! EVER! We still have a baguette and sandwich rolls waiting, but THANK YOU for making a safe and absolutely delicious place for my celiac daughter to enjoy. ( and me too)“

Everything is sinfully delicious, both the savory and the sweet, and they have good flourless/gluten free options as well. My favorite is always the chocolate almond croissant, though I had a leek and gruyere croissant this time that had me wanting more! The double chocolate cookie is DELICIOUS!!“

“A new contender for the best kalamata olive bread (4/5 Green Stars). It’s Day 3 of Shelterfest, sponsored by Coronavirus, and I was feeling kinda satisfied (i.e., less guilty than yesterday) after making an earnest attempt to work remotely. So I took myself off for an afternoon stroll and, landing in the vicinity of College and Alcatraz Ave, decided to pick up some bread if there was any to be had. La Farine was quiet and there was plenty of bread left, even at 4 pm. (So pop in to support them if you’re in the area!) I usually get their rustic baguette but this time bought a loaf of olive bread. The servers were super friendly and one asked me if I wanted some free pastries. Ya-ha I did! I scuttled home with my bag of goodies and heated up one of the freebies – a chocolate croissant (toaster oven, bake for 3-5 min). The croissant doesn’t look that amazing, I have to admit, but it tasted wonderful. Buttery, flakey pastry and just the right amount of good quality chocolate. Later I had the bread – I’m a big fan of Semifreddi’s Kalamata olive bread so the bar was pretty high. I have to say that it was up there with my favorite bread – it was a little fuller than the Semifreddi’s loaf, but that wasn’t a bad thing as I sometimes feel that I’m eating a lot of air with the latter. In summary, I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed La Farine before because I’ve gone there many a time. I recommend the three things mentioned above and also their Irish soda bread is really good and pretty authentic. I just found out that La Farine started out in this location in 1977 – almost as old as I am, said Bilbo. I'm also giving La Farine 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • It seems that they use conventional white flour and organic whole wheat flour. • Their website is lacking on information on ingredient sourcing (compared to, say Acme). I’d like to know more about their flour, eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. • La Farine donates leftover products to area food banks and senior centers • They also support Bay Area schools and other local causes • Their bags are made from post-consumer recycled paper and printed with water-based inks. • Most of the menu is vegetarian and some of the breads are vegan. We got a 3 leches cake and was delicious. And they decorated very nicely too (for a baby shower) I did added the baby bear though (to make it look extra.) but all my guests had doubles and told me how delicious the cake was. I would really recommend them.

They were clear about any extra charges etc. so nice they told me about it before agreeing to anything.

One thing I didn’t like was that I had previously gotten a cake from them and the price has gone up (from 2 months apart.) and when I asked why they didn’t answer my question!

I understand prices for everything is going up, so it makes sense. But it would be nice to know in advance they’ll increase prices.“

The staff are so so helpful and friendly. I took home two of their savory focaccia breads. Goat cheese, pine nuts, and green onion and kalamata olives and red onion. Warmed up in the toaster oven, they were perfection.

If you have never been here or haven't been lately, you should rectify that immediately!“

I was shocked to find such a full breakfast and lunch menu along with their pastry and coffee bar offerings. The French staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and they have no shortage of indoor or outdoor bistro seating.
