“Finally stopped in after driving by many times. Ordered the Chavalita Estrella combo and oh my goodness. This might be the most delicious food truck experience I've had in California. The food is amazing, the presentation and service size is fantastic, and the staff are kind and helpful. I came back later to let them know how good it was and she remembered my name. Stop in, you'll be back. I know I will 🤤“

“Going back to east coast and couldn't leave without visiting this amazing establishment. The food was wonderful. The other guests that sat at the outside tables consuming food with us were awesome too. People you must get out and go to these places and meet the citizens of this wonderful town! And eat this fresh, hot and amazing food while at it!“

“Had some time to kill this week and headed in to have some lunch, ordered a carne asada taco and albóndigas. Having worked in Mexican food places I figured the soup was gonna take longer. But it took about 20-25 mins to get the taco and the soup. The soup was delicious! But I had to cancel the taco since it took so long. If u are in a rush do not eat there..
If you have plenty of time and like homemade tortillas head in. The workers where friendly, but sadly I never got my money back for my taco 3.50 isn't much but it does leave me with bit of a poor experience because of it. Could have been 5 stars. Again food is delicious and greatly seasoned.“

“The Flavor Spectrum of Mexican Bread Bakery. 🥧🍰 🍩🥐🥖
La Gloria Bakery offers a beautiful cross-section of Mexican panadería heritage, where each bread carries a story—and a flavor—of its own. From the rich and velvety chocolate pastries to sesame-dusted croissants and colorful cookies, the selection speaks to the country’s regional diversity and deep-rooted baking traditions.
What makes Mexican bread so special isn’t just the variety, but the unique character of each type:
• Cornbread (Pan de Elote): Moist, sweet, and heartwarming—like the ones you loved that echoed the flavors of Guadalajara. It has that soft texture and subtle corn richness that makes it unforgettable.🌽🥧🍰
• Conchas: Light and fluffy inside with their iconic sugary shell patterns—a morning staple with café de olla.
• Mantecadas: Muffin-like with a buttery essence, often wrapped in red paper—like the ones in your photo. Some are infused with nuts or chocolate chips for a delightful crunch.
• Empanadas: Filled with guava, pineapple, or cajeta, they offer bursts of fruity sweetness enclosed in flaky pastry.
• Cuernitos and Orejas: French-influenced croissant styles, adapted with a Mexican twist, sometimes brushed with syrup or sugar.
• Polvorones and Galletas (Cookies) : The have different flavors and different Shortbread types and the cookies most of them have a buttery taste and are great to drink with coffee, hot chocolate or milk.I like the sprinkle-covered ones they are tasty vibrant, playful, and perfect for celebrations or for any day.
But the winner was the Corn 🌽 Bread it was sweet spongy, and moist. It had a very sweet butter milk flavor. I had this with Cafe de olla. It was a great experience.
Each tray, each bite is a window into culture, tradition, and creativity. It’s not just about sweetness—Mexican bread carries warmth, memory, and to have it sitting on a table to share with friends and family.“

Worship music playing added to a delightful atmosphere where I could praise and worship God while I waited for my 2 tacos.. later at home, I found out they added an extra one. How cool is that? The tacos were tops, too! I've been here about 7 times now.“

“Good fresh food. Not spicy unless you want it spicy!! They have chilequiles which ill probably get next time. Homemade salsa, and espresso drinks too. Clean place, airy and bright. And attentive sweet waitresses. Also they play good music, and play music videos. Great vibe, will definitely be returning next time I'm in Oxnard.“

“We just found this amazing eatery in Oxnard by chance. OMG, it was so good! I have been cursed with the capsaicin sensitivity gene, so I can't tolerate the"heat" 🥵 that many other ethnicities can handle in their customary cuisine... dang European ancestry 🫠😆, but I do enjoy things to have seasoning and not taste like cardboard. My husband loves the hot stuff and got it on the side. Too often I end up not being able to eat the food from most taquerias, even after explaining my issues, but not the case here, everything was awesome. The beans are flavorful, soft, & not hard nor mushy. The rice is cooked perfectly, so it was fluffy with a soft mouth feel without being mushy and not a single undercooked grain to break any teeth, as I find all too often. The herbs & veggies are very fresh. They also used red onions instead of white, which also added flavor without the heat that I was so grateful for. The plentiful asada was cooked fresh for your order, no heat lamp nuggets or brown bits here, and tasted great! We happened to just drop in for lunch, had a wonderful conversation with the staff and other customers, and totally enjoyed our excellent meal. They specialize in Ceviche, having won 1st place at the Ceviche Chow Down the last two years, '24 & '25, that's held yearly at the Olivas Adobe. The event raises funds for Mission FISH, a non-profit dedicated to providing fishing therapy trips for Veterans, Active Duty Military, First Responders, and Gold Star Families. Proceeds this year were to support “Operation Anacapa 2025,” Mission FISH’s 10th annual fishing trip that gives over 100 heroes a day of Fishing, Interacting, Sharing & Healing. Great people and excellent food! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!“

“The food here is great! They usually have tables set up, too, in case you want to eat there. The people taking my order are always nice and the people handing it out are always smiling and make sure you have everything you need before you go! I love coming here. With the $10-12 for a burrito.
Parking: They share a lot with a market, so the parking is plentiful.“

“Great local tacos and burritos! Desayuno (breakfast) burritos are bomb. Everything is made to order and takes a little longer which is to say that it’s always hot and fresh! The staff are super friendly and the customers are loyal. English and Spanish are spoken so don’t worry if you can’t speak Spanish. They got you! Very family friendly place too.“

“Let's start with hours: they do not close at 7pm. 5pm both nights I visited, it looked like 4pm on others (sorry, no picture of the sign).
On the visit I went while they were open, traditional Birria Chivo (goat stew) was requested, but they were serving Birria Borrego (lamb) and Birria Res (beef). Beef birria is a regular part of my diet, and love lamb, so naturally went with that. The lamb was tender and much less gamey than expected, well seasoned. I ordered Birria Borrego in a Quesadila with Consum'e. Filled me up, put smile on face. Next visit, will try the Chile Relleno.
2 very pleasant ladies were working. Quite nice, worked with my love of Mexican food and lack of vocabulary to provide exactly what I wanted.“

“We've been searching for a good taco truck in north Oxnard and had no luck until we tried El Maiz! Best tacos we've had in a LONG time. Food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and prepared quickly! We tried tacos of chicken, steak, and al pastor and all three kinds were delicious with good portions and priced right!“

“Breakfast is just like home made. From huevos rancheros to nopales con carne and hand made corn tortillas. The only negative is that they only have instant coffee which you have to get up and make yourself, which I still don't mind BUT all they have is Styrofoam cups :(. The food is however, the BEST compared to ALL other Mexican restaurants. There's usually just one waitress and the female cook/owner. That'll tell you it's just like being cooked a meal at home with great taste.“

“The torta and the juices were delicious. All the fruit used for the juices was fresh; we could even see the orange and pineapple boxes. This is a take-out place. They have a few seats available for waiting, but not for eating inside. There is a limited amount of space for parking outside.“

“I like their food, they have a good seasoning and the broths are very good. I frequent the place once when I went to buy chicken broth for a sick person since it is very good for recovering and I saw and tried it and their lamb consomme was very good. Delicious, actually I personally recommend them to me. Sometimes they serve me very well, other times not so much that they forget, it depends on who serves it, but it is worth going for their very good food, freshly made at the moment and reasonable prices.“

“I recently visited Pacific Sushi Mex and had a really good experience overall.
The food was delicious — I especially loved the shrimp in red sauce (camarones à la diabla) , it had a rich flavor and tasted very well prepared. The beans on the side were also surprisingly good and had a homemade taste. I’ve also tried their sushi before and enjoyed it as well.
During my visit, someone who seemed to be part of the management or overseeing the location came by and checked in with me. He was very attentive and took the time to make sure I was having a good experience, which made a big difference.
The only thing I would mention is that the service can sometimes be inconsistent. There have been times when I felt a bit overlooked when dining alone, while other visits have been much better. I do think there is room for improvement in that area.
Overall, the food quality and the attention I received during this visit made a positive impression, and I would definitely come back.“
“Nice place very clean quick service. Has coffee to accommodate the wait. I ordered the waffle and chicken apple sausage nice size portion. The menu had a lot of options to choose from including vegetarian. Highly recommend. Prices are GREAT!“
