“BARGAIN! I find that most Italian restaurants are the "same old, same old". Good, decent, predictable, unremarkable, unmemorable. Not so with this one. Interesting menu with fresh and homemade pasta, novel sauces, house made mozzarella, house made gelato and sorbetto. You wont find these flavors anywhere else. Didn't have cocktails as wines by the glass were interesting and very well priced. If you're a spirits drinker there's a couple of Bourbon choices that are very hard to find. Service was efficient and professional. They were there when needed-none of this fake, too talky stuff. At a time when inflation is affecting restaurant prices severely , this business offers value across the menu. Definitely returning soon to try several other dishes.“

“I first visited this amazing local deli in 1989-1990. I remembered the half loaves of bread stacked high with a pile of my choice of meats and cheeses. Although I was only 18-19, Compagno’s established my standard for an amazing sandwich. 32 years later I brought my sons here for lunch. Same delicious goodness a generation later.“

“Huge selection of fully vegan Mexican food. We had the vegetable enchiladas, tacos, - kids burrito (with side of fries?), nachos, and the flan. They were out of chocolate cake. Everything was amazing. The red sauce on the enchiladas was pretty spicy but not painfully so (they also offer a mild green sauce as an option). The nachos were really good too: no fake meat but a solid cream and cheese alternative that worked well. The food was served on to-go style dishes with plastic cutlery, likely to save on dishwashing/water? There’s some outdoor seating but only two-tops. Food came out relatively quickly, but it’s also a very small kitchen so it looked like folks behind us had to wait. Went here around 5pm on Monday and it was empty, with 6 parking spaces in their “lot” free. By the time we left, about 40 minutes later, it was packed. They have two high chairs. Bus your own tables.“

“Limited place but we were taken care of well by the owner who runs it alone. He was just opening up and went back to kitchen to prepare our order. Hot Falafal was easily the best of the lot which we totally enjoyed since it was a cold day.
The dolmas were yummy too. We also tasted Baklava which were very juicy and fresh.“

“I wanted to write the perfect review but I won't be able to do that. The people there were so nice and so warm. The location is in an old house in historic downtown Pacific Grove. But I can't let this go, the prices were high (as expected) and then they did the old trick of, "Did you want chorizo with that"....without telling you it's a $6 upcharge for two teaspoons added on top of your $17 plate of chiliquilies. So for $23, you get a full plate, I mean piled high of tortilla chips covered in a homemade red sauce (delicious). A table or teaspoonful of queso fresco per the recipe (delicious), two fried eggs, and sour cream on the side, (awesome). Most recipes for this dish that I've eaten will offer a choice of protein. Chorizo is a very common breakfast protein for this recipe. I would argue that it should be part of the recipe regardless but if you ask people, "Do you want chorizo on that?", many will say yes for the reasons I mentioned above. But when the bill comes watch out. It was a $6 upcharge to my $17 choice of breakfast. If it's an upcharge you have to tell me in advance. "Do I want it?", is one question. "Do I want it for the price you will charge me?", has to be a separate question. If it's some amount that high, an extra 1/3 of the price of my breakfast, then you shoudl feel extremely obligated to tell me how much. Don't make me feel like an a-hole bringing up your sketchy business upcharge practices to you in the middle of a super-packed breakfast/brunch rush when you hand me the bill. I didn't bring it up but I wanted to, very badly. As good as the meal was the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and more than a week later I'm still shaking my head about it. For a place that thrives on tourist and word-of-mouth business, there's no reason for this type of shady business antics which leads someone like me who otherwise really enjoyed this place to go to the trouble of leaving a bad review. I probably won't go back due to this.“
