“I am Korean and have been to many sushi, tempura, and omakase restaurants in Sapporo.
It's good here. It's good, but it's really crappy. It's no exaggeration to say that it's salt sushi. When Koreans go, please ask for a little less seasoning. Otherwise, you'll feel like you're eating from a soy sauce container.
And it's so, so, so cold. I'm not a neta, but I go to Michelin and pay $500, so I can't help but wonder why I'm shivering from the cold. And when I hold the nigiri, I don't know if it's a habit, but every time I hold it, I take a small amount of rice... a little bit from the nigiri. It feels a bit like an amateur. The fact that there were a lot of tsumami made was enough to give that feeling.
And the chef speaks a little Korean.
This business could get better if they just don't use Chrome Hearts chopsticks and show a little more consideration for their customers. The food was good, and except for the saltiness, the sushi and neta were good.“

“What a GREAT dinner! Met friends here on a late Friday night and they fit us in. The sushi was fresh and so tasty, definitely the best I’ve had in a LONG time. “The most professional and efficient Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. We sat down at 11:00am and our Sashimi platter came at 11:06am. The speed is just amazing. I can tell they put a lot of thought into their pricing. The Unagi Don is pretty price reasonable with $28. But the sashimi platter deluxe is very over priced considering only 5 piece of otoro and no Shrimp or Scallops were given. The rest of the fish like hamachi or spicy salmon are just cheap ingredients. But it is still a restaurant you should definitely try.

The theme of the restaurant is 10/10 what I would expect! Nothing boring or plain like sugar fish.
You’re greeted by the sushi chefs when you come in- very sweet of them.
They’re actually Asian chefs- which I appreciate.
Came in for a walk in- which they accept. Around 8 pm and was seated immediately.

I ordered the baked salmon roll (my favorite)
Tsunami roll, was good just too many flavors- I still enjoyed it though. 8/10
Dragon roll- my second favorite 10/10
I went with my date and we got full! Payed around 46$ very reasonable price 10/10!

Sean- the bartender- went to the hotel pantry and Googled a recipe to make us a round of Lychee Martini’s that were not on the menu. I honestly dont know what the difference was even though the very nice wait staff tried to explain it to me. It was just a bunch of japanese words lol. Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. “If you love Fresh fish at a good price look no further. The Sashimi is amazing and great portions. They have fresh Real WASABI available which take the fish to a whole new level. “I had a 4 star worthy experience. I order the Crunch Philadelphia roll its a fried sushi and was very crunchy. I like how the salmon was cooked and didn't taste dry like other cooked salmon i've had before, the salmon was quite moist and flavorful in the roll. The roll had a perfect level of crunch and was served warm not. Service was quick and we got seated right away no reservation required as there we plenty of tables avaliable. My only complaint is the restrooms ran out of paper towels or the paper towel machine broke. It reccomend this place if your a fan of trying new sushi roll dishes as the rolls seem quite unique.

We had a California Roll and a rock shrimp roll, and they were perfectly delicious. The rice was plump, with a slight bite with the perfect amount of filling.

A must try is their spicy garlic edamame. Man, they are so flavorful with the right spiciness. You'll be asking for seconds.

The reason for a 4 rating is that the bulgogi beef was a bit dry. It fell a little short in flavor and its traditional sweetness.

They have a great 5 dollar "thirst-quenching" draft beer that goes perfectly with your meal of choice.

Will I be back...YES! In a heartbeat and you should too, when you're in the area.“

“I have been going to Mamma's sushi for years. Before the Shabu Shabu next door. I have always enjoyed the food, service and the atmosphere. It seems like they get better in each category over the years. Recently, I have noticed that while other places have made Sushi almost unaffordable, Mamma's sushi saves the day with all their deals. Lunch specials, dinner specials it seems like they have something for every time slot of the day.

The menu is full of variety, with classic staples like gyoza and tuna rolls while also featuring special dishes, with my personal favorite being the spider rolls, which are absolutely delicious. Service is quite fast and the owner is extremely welcoming to customers. It is clear that the owner really puts their heart into the food and makes it impossible not to enjoy the meals prepared for you.

“Great local sushi spot with stone decent pricing!

Seating is very limited and the menu gives off a bit of a dated feel but you really can't argue the classics when they're done well.

Sushi rice had just a bit of tang and was light and fluffy.

Dishes were presented very well and our server was thoughtful and cautious enough to make sure our table wasn't overflowing. We ordered about 6 items and by the 3rd plate things were crowding up.

Blue crab avocado roll ($9) - A little heavy on the Japanese mayo and rice but it made for a great presentation on the plate it was on.

Tempura mixed ($9) - 3 pieces of shrimp and 3 pieces of veggies. I'm on the fence with this one since I really enjoyed the presentation but felt like the batter on the shrimp was heavy and the veggies were mostly extra starchy items.

Mini spicy tuna bowl ($9) - This was a pleasant favorite! Just the right amount of heat and a decent amount of tuna over that delicious sushi rice. The first couple of bites where the cold tuna contradicts the warm rice was like being able to eat that feeling of walking on the warm sand and letting the chilly ocean water cool you off.

Amberjack/Hamachi Tuna ($5/piece) - This was interestingly a lighter flavor than what we were familiar with. The cut was thin but blanketed the rice with just a small swipe of sauce and a dab of yuzu paste on top. Playing perfectly well with the tangy rice but also all being a star of the bite while being clean.

Grilled Tuna Belly ($12) - This was the star of the table. Lightly grilled with a bit of crispy edges, seasoned and topped with garlic and micro greens and paired with a dipping sauce on the side to choose how heavy or light you prefer to dip.

Tempura Ice cream ($7) - Couldn't leave our first visit without trying a dessert item. Classic fried ice cream that is wrapped with pound cake and rolled in their delicious tempura batter. Saving room for this is a must if you grew up demolishing these in the early 2000s.

Hidden gems are great to find and it feels like this place has a lot of classics that give you a homey feel where you don't know where to start. Just dive in and make sure you mark off the ones you've tried because there are a good amount of dishes that were of value and quality here.
