“Lovely place- would come back and recommend! Good spot to read or work with plenty of outlets, free wifi, open bathroom, and table space upstairs and downstairs. I got the cheese/green onion scone and a warm date latte and enjoyed both. Service was great and atmosphere was calm & relaxing. Came in on a Tuesday from 12:45-2:45pm and was very quiet and not very busy. I essentially had the whole upstairs table to myself for a couple hours.
Note: it seems like oatmilk substitute costs an extra 75 cents.“

“I make it a point to come and visit Fava about once a month, traveling from out of town each time, and I have to say, it's always such a genuinely lovely experience. It's a combination of the wonderful people who work there, the delicious food they prepare, the inviting atmosphere of the restaurant, and the incredible freshness of everything. It really does make my day so much more delightful. The staff is consistently very kind and cheerful, which definitely shines through in the quality of the food they serve.The vibe outside the music. Everything about this establishment is just how businesses should be run, especially in the food industry and I commute about an hour and a half each way this stop makes my drive so much better. “I’ve only had their smoothies and tasted the ice cream . It’s pretty good haven’t been disappointed . Thai tea ice cream is fire 🔥 . They do close early , earlier than their posted hours though sometimes a half hour early so best to arrive over an hour before they close . I haven’t tried their banh mi but they do seem pricey at nearly 18 dollars each!“

The chocolate cake was very moist and the strawberry filling was delicious! I loved the salt in the icing. Just the perfect amount of sweetness. “Small shop with warm food and an open fridge section of sushi. There was also a wall of snacks. Prices are very reasonable. No verbal communication which I think is fine but the woman dropped my packed sushi upside down and then tossed it into a bag. Sushi rice was a bit too hard for my liking.“

“My experience at Passione Caffè in their gorgeous two-story, well-decorated café at 91 Shattuck Square was simply marvelous. It almost goes without mentioning, but Passione Caffè is absolutely true to its slogan: “A corner of Italy in Berkeley.” From the food and drink to the atmosphere and the service, this is the only truly Italian café I have found in Berkeley! And that comes from over a year of experience living and traveling in Italy! Besides the beautiful architecture and interior design of Passione Caffè—not to mention its convenient location next to Downtown Berkeley BART—I would like to point out some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, their only Americanized dish, is to die for! The pizzas also are also made with home-made dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meats and cheeses round out the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling lunch for $7-15, which is definitely reasonably priced by Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the artisanal gelato, made in-house by the Italian co-owner, Eleanora Cercatore. There are 12 flavors, weekly made with gluten-free options, that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The gelato is spectacularly tasty—I cannot recommend it highly enough! For your time, money, and fine Italian bites and drinks, I cannot recommend a Berkeley café more highly than Passione Caffè! Please pay them a visit soon—you won’t be disappointed!“

I was a little confused on how dine in worked, and had to ask a guest about water refills but overall was satisfied with my meal and service. “Las Palmitas is a solid, family-owned Mexican restaurant in Vallejo with deep roots in the community.
I was there for the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Banda Lonchera—something we do monthly—and it was a great spot for a midweek lunch. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, especially for a Wednesday around noon. Good energy, not rushed, and easy to have conversations with the group.
I’ve been here before for drinks, and they have a full bar with a great selection, which makes it a good option for both lunch and after-work meetups. This time I had the quesadillas and enjoyed them. Portions were solid, food was good, and others in our group also seemed to enjoy their meals.
What really stood out was getting to meet the family behind the restaurant. This is truly a family business—started by the mom over 30 years ago and now run by her two sons. You can feel that history and pride when you’re there.
If you’re looking for a classic Mexican family restaurant with good food, a full bar, and strong community ties, Las Palmitas is worth checking out.“
