“Kai Sushi is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience, and it made our date night absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the perfect mood—intimate, inviting, and stylish. The staff’s warm welcome and genuine smiles made us feel at home. Our date night was elevated by the extraordinary sushi creations Kai has to offer. Every bite was a burst of flavor, showcasing the chef’s culinary artistry and dedication to freshness. The extensive menu impressed us, offering a delightful range from classic rolls to innovative specials. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The attentive service added an extra layer of charm to our evening. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our date night was nothing short of perfect. This will become a regular date night spot for us at Kai Sushi. If you’re looking for a place to create special memories, whether it’s a date night or any occasion, Kai Sushi in Poway is the place to be. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! I recommend the House special andSunshine roll.“
“I've been in a couple times now for their Poke bowls and have enjoyed them. The staff has been friendly and don't skimp on the proteins. There are slightly less protein options than poke-only places, but they have the usual salmon, tuna, spicy tuna and shrimp. Same goes for the topping. Side note, the ginger tasted fresh and didn't have the fake coloring, which is a plus for me. Prices are slightly cheaper than other options. I've only order to-go, but there's a decent amount of seating inside for what would be consider a "fast food" joint. Given the area there's no outside seating, and since it's in a busy parking lot, you probably wouldn't want to either. I'll be going back to try some of their other offerings, so until then, give their poke a try.“
“I've come here a couple of times now, and the food is delicious! I would say that this location is better than some of their sister restaurants! The only downside i would point out atmosphere-wise is that theres some hodge-podge stuff innthe corners and you can see cords and plugs here and here (very minimal "issues"). Sydney served our party this visit and was very kind!Parking: As is expected with any place in Convoy, parking can be hard“
“Found this gem from instagram & decided to visit after a cold day at the beach. We tried the kitakata ramen & tan tan ramen - they both have a unique broth. I usually prefer creamy ones like the tan tan, but the broth for kitakata was also good. Got seated right away even though it was during dinner and food was served right away. Will definitely come back & try their karaage.“
“My husband and I rarely go to sushi. Besides our favorite place back home because it’s usually such a disappointment. We decided to give this a try and I’m so glad that we did! Stephanie was phenomenal! ? The atmosphere was great and all of the food was delicious. We got a Bento box and two rolls and will definitely be back!“
“Ramen on a rainy day is always a good idea! My friend and I came here on a rainy afternoon and the place was busy, but YiLei did an amazing job at making sure that everyone was helped while providing great service. We got the Vegan Spicy Tan-Tan and the Isshido Miso Tonkotsu ramen , they were both delicious. The pan fried gyoza are a must!Vegetarian options: Vegan Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen.“
“Did they change their noodles? This was one of my favorite ramen shops in San Diego, because of the fresh noodles, but they the texture has been different the past few times.Editing after the restaurant response: Thank you for letting us know of the shipment delays!“
“Price to quality ratio is very much on point. Ramen was quite delicious and everything you would expect (plus a little more) from a working man's lunch; it was $12.95 for a large shio. The thing that delivered most for this bowl of goodness was the broth. The salt content was well balanced and provided just enough depth of flavor to satisfy all of your umami cravings. The noodles were delightfully springy, and the bamboo + mushrooms were well incorporated, even if they added more texture than taste. The roasted pork had good flavor, but was a bit too tough. The lowest point was the egg I added, which was hard boiled (blasphemy), and definitely made the dish worse…I left it unfinished.I cannot speak for the non-soup offerings, but in all it was worth my time. Any ramen lover would be satisfied.“
“Yummy appetizers, super friendly staff, and very cute spot. We loved the decor and diagonally hanging pictures!Vegetarian options: There is a vegan ramen option for two of their ramen bowls.Parking: There’s a parking lot right outside that is shared by the other stores in this strip mall.“
“Bulgogi pancake and fried rice were particularly delicious. Rolls very good too. Service was good and friendly. Place had a nice vibe, and not too loud - possible to have a normal conversation over dinner without shouting over the music or other patrons. Will definitely be back.“
“You miss late-night dining in Tokyo? Come dine at Nishiki Ramen for unpretentious tonkotsu ramen. Outstanding food matched with excellent service! Cassidy, the manager on duty was impressive, and Justin our server was equally attentive. We will definitely dine in again!“
“Very bold move to open a jack of all trades restaurant in a place where you can get almost the best of specialized asian cruisines. That being said, the tonkotsu ramen and Popcorn chicken were very impressive. I highly recommend. Especially because it's hard to find $15 dollar ramens nowadays that still gives you all the amenities that belong in a good bowl of ramen.Popcorn chicken was freshly fried, well seasoned and delicious. Very happy with those two purchases. My wife wasn't too happy with the curry udon, but imo it's her fault for ordering it in the first place. It's not the restaurant's fault that curry doesn't belong with noodles haha. But if curry with noodles is your thing, it's got everything you'd want in there, plus they add cheese too.Come give them a try. I'm sure I'm not the only one skeptical since they do a few different cuisines.“
“The food is solid here, and we love coming before or after a movie. The service was great, they were very attentive. I had a Philly Roll and a Salmon Roll with crunchies added. Didn't love the crunchies it was a little too much. Next time I will just order without it, as I was trying to do something different. My hubby got a spicy mutha roll and spicy edamame and loved both. My kid got the OG ramen with all the toppings in the side except for the noodles. He like the broth but didn't finish all his noodles, but he's six.The ambiance is pretty middle of the road sushi joint. Clean, and spacious. It does have a few TV's so you won't miss the game if you are into sports. We come here quite a bit when we come up here for shopping or movies so will definitely be back.“
“Unassuming place with very yummy food. While their are slightly tastier places you have to wait very long to get a seat. Not here. Great food with little to no wait! Lots of food options as well.Parking: Very little parking in this area with many restaurants.Kid-friendliness: Friendly for kids.“
“I'd keep coming back, especially for their spicy garlic edamame! I've ordered for take out and had a sit in moment and both times, I was very satisfied both in taste and customer experience. When I ordered for take out, the food was prepared a lot faster than others and packaged well, especially separating the "black" flavor, so I got to experience it blending with the base. When I came here for dine in, the staff were super friendly. Our ramen took a bit longer to come and the staff was super apologetic, she said she accidentally gave my husband's ramen to someone, hence the delay. I was super glad that they made us both wait so we can eat our ramen together, instead of giving mine then him waiting and just watching me. The staff was also super sorry so she offered a free drink on the house. We're both non-alcoholic drinkers so we just got soda. Overall, for my husband and I, it was a good experience. I give this place a 5-star because I will come back here again, and again. Not anytime soon though, but definitely will again lol.“
“I'm Japanese, but I like it better than Japanese ramen shops.Ramen eaten in Japan is delicious, butThere are times when I feel like something is missing, especially at chain stores.Of course, there are some restaurants that I like, and many that I return to repeatedly. But La Kirakiramen is delicious, and every time I eat it, I always want to come back.Because there's love in it.“
“Good ramen. Expensive. 18% service charge is automatically added to the cost of food ordered in lieu of tips. Service was great. Clean yet a small venue. Ramen broth is tasty though very thick and oily. Serving size is sufficient if you are not too hungry.“
“Best ramen I've had in awhile! I prefer it to Raki-raki personally. I got the Tajima ramen, pork chashu bowl, takoyaki, and my partner got the spicy ramen. We shared everything and agree it was all good.Once we came in, they even gave us a choice where we wanted to sit between 3 spots so it was nice coming in when it wasnt super packed. Service and ambience of the place were all great too! Would visit again.“
“Went on a weekday the place has ample amount of seating and parking. I ordered a spicy sesame ramen. It was good and quite filling. I personally prefer the Tajima Ramen to spicy sesame. There was a slight problem with our order where one of the dishes didn't arrive but was on the bill, but after pointing out it was taken of quickly. The mercury location doesn't have vegetable gyoza on the menu which the convoy location has. Woth visiting again.“
“This sushi spot is a great option for a speedy lunch or casual dinner. Their hour's are great: even opeb in-between L & D! They won't blow your mind w/ culinary innovation, but you get fresh, decent sushi in a clean & friendly atmosphere. The miso soup was a satisfying starter, hitting the spot with its savory warmth. The tempura was a bit standard but the gyoza pulled up their rating, but all still enjoyable. The sushi rolls were fresh BUT a little underl-constructed, nice choices. The the service & convenience are the best. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything came out quickly. Plus, with a good selection of draft and bottled beers, it's was a relaxing and hassle-free experience.Overall, this restaurant won't be your next special occasion destination, but it's a reliable choice for a quick and tasty sushi fix. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the mood for a no-fuss, fresh meal.“
“The yakitori here is amazing, everything was flavorful. We loved everything we ordered & even wanted to get more. I love the concept of ordering on the iPad, makes everything easier & you can just order as you go. It does get pricey though, the yakitori ranges between $5-$15 but most come with 2 sticks. For 2 of us, we spent a little over $100. All in all, I'd still come back every once in a while when I'm craving some yakitori!“
“Last Wednesday I went there with colleagues. It looks small from outside but it was roomy and nice wall art.Due to the food allergies unfortunately I can't eat seafood but I did enjoy some appetizers as well as kalbi. Agedashi tofu was diced cut easy to eat for everyone. Just wished if there is more soup with it. Kalbi was tender and perfectly cook I enjoyed it. My colleagues enjoyed their hand rolls, sushi and others. I'd like to revisit there.“
“This place is good for what it is. It's been a long time since I at at this chain restaurant. I like it. But there certainly are better ramen in other places, but this is not bad. Friendly service and clean restaurant. Food is good.I'm actually just passing by San Diego. Use to work here about 30 years ago. This building or buildings in this area was not here yet. So it brings back memories when I'm here.“
“I love quite a few of their veggie dishes. Service is always attentive and whatever you ask for they bring it right away. It is a nice place as the music is not to loud and even when the place is packed you don't feel like getting in each other shoes.“
“Want tasty plant-based Japanese ramen? Here ya go. If you want egg or meat, you can order from next door. The Classic Ramen with the Add In spice had a huge portion, fun presentation with the wooden cover to keep from spilling, and was delicious. My bowl temperature could have been hotter. It's a very busy place. It was hard to hear the person directly across from me. I wish restaurants consider the acoustics especially for folks with hearing issues. Parking was a zoo, fortunately people are coming and going. The parking spaces are tight so come early.Parking: Small tight parking lot. Hope you have a small car. Come early.Kid-friendliness: There were a couple of kids here, but it's not really set up for kids. It's loud, has a bar vibe with nothing for kids to do, and most of the seating is for couples and is tight and small. I don't see much extra room for a stroller. So, I would say it's not really kid friendly.“
“The chicken katsu here is the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. The service is fantastic and the cooks are skilled and friendly. I love the cozy and warm atmosphere that this place provides, I look forward to going here whenever I’m in the area. THANK YOU GUYS!!!“
