“Our church, Triedstone MBC, just hosted a luncheon for our leadership team. It was catered by Darrow’s New Orleans Grill. We were very pleased with our experience. The food was delicious. And the service was great! They arrived early. And the food was hot. The owner, Norwood, presented the food with a very appetizing description of each entree. Everyone loved it! Additionally, the portions were very generous. And everyone went back for seconds. At Triedstone, we do everything with excellence. And Darrow’s definitely met the challenge. “During a recent trip to Los Angeles, a seafood craving led us to Star Crab, located along W Centinela Avenue in a low-key neighborhood setting that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it.

From the outside, it has that casual strip mall feel that might make you pause, especially for seafood. We had the same initial hesitation. Once inside, though, the energy told a different story. A steady flow of locals coming and going gave it a sense of familiarity and quiet confidence.

We ordered the seafood boil, and it delivered on flavor. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The staff created a welcoming environment and kept things moving smoothly without ever feeling rushed.

Portion size could be more generous for the price, which is something to keep in mind. Still, the quality of the food and the overall experience made it a worthwhile stop.

We visited on a Sunday in the late afternoon, just before 6 PM, and the timing worked well, active enough to feel vibrant, yet comfortable enough to enjoy the meal without a wait.

It’s the kind of place that grows on you. I’d return on a future visit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid seafood option in the area.“

“I recently stumbled upon your establishment and must say, the name perfectly captures how I felt after trying your food. I ordered fried wings, rice, and vegetables, and each dish was exceptional.

The wings were piping hot, and the aroma that wafted from the box was simply incredible. The blend of spices and flavors was perfect, and I was truly blown away.

The rice was buttery and delicious, and the vegetables were a wonderful complement to the meal.

“I've been in Los Angeles California for over 40 years. This one of the far most the most delicious soulfood i have had in years. Gave me a Lil taste of home. I'm sure other dishes are as delicious .“

“Cajun outdoor shack with fried seafood options, gumbo, and even alligator. There’s a small parking lot behind the building. Credit cards are accepted. Outdoor dining only (no indoor options) and there’s delivery and takeout available. As other reviews and the sign on their window notes,you won’t get the food quickly since it’s slow food and that’s part of the whole experience. You scan a QR code to get the menu. I opted for a fried catfish and five shrimp plate which came with an option of two small sides. I got the red beans and rice as well as fries. The red beans and rice were hot and comforting; the fries are crinkle cut. The plate came with a side of tartar sauce and there are hot sauces and ketchup available at each table. They have a paper towel roll and hand sanitizer at each table as well. The fish isn’t as seasoned as I would’ve expected but the shrimp was super fresh and tasty. I had leftovers and they still kept relatively well the next day.“
