“Food is good but the lady who serves the food and who is at the cash counter doesn’t seems to care much. The lady who cleans the table smiles and talks in polite manner. The restaurant has a plenty of sitting capacity and it’s like L shape, so you have to walk to other side to pay at counter. If they improve the service and the payment method then it think it has a potential to do very good business.“

“Nice neighborhood no-frills cafe serving some standard options with a Vietnamese food / drink menu.
Ordered Vietnamese iced coffee, as one always should when available, and a croissant. Both delicious. Croissant large and buttery.
The prices are fair and the atmosphere is very pleasant and the spirit of Oakland.
Will definitely return to try vegetarian bahn mi.“

“I BEEN TRAVELING FOR MANY YEARS NOW AND BESIDES MY FAVORITE PHO PLACE OUT OF PEARLAND TEXAS, THIS PLACE, THIS PLACE HERE REALLY HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK! THE CHICKEN PHO WAS FRESHLY GRILLED AND CHOPPED AND THE BROTH WAS PERFECTLY SEASONED. THE GRILLED SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS WERE A PERFECT COMPLIMENT. PHOSHO IS THE PLACE FOR SURE.....“

“Great beef pho here. Generous amount of meat and the tendon is cooked to the point of being perfectly soft. The broth was a tiny bit too sweet for me, I prefer more savory, but I would still come back here. Nice ambience and beautiful walls.“

“Great and affordable banh mi. The man who owns the shop is very nice and efficient. The bread they use is always fresh, with the perfect ratio of soft interior and crunchy baguette exterior. The vegetables they use are also always very fresh. My favorite banh mi spot in the east bay for sure!
Cash only and no ATM. so make sure that you bring cash with you.“

“Cam Huong has been offering good Vietnamese food to the local community for decades. Their French sandwiches and spring rolls are yummy to say the least. I especially loved their taro drinks. However, it has been out of stock for several weeks recently. Please note: the price has gone up significantly during and after the pandemic. You can easily spend $60 to $100+ if you're not careful about what you want to eat for that meal on the same day. Also, they encourage you to pay in cash. If you pay with credit card, you'll need to pay more!! I wondered why?!
Remember: You wanna go there for their delicious food. But don't expect a friendly face or smile.“

“Very solid tofu banh mi (heavy on the veggies but i’d rather extra than not enough) and delicious shrimp summer rolls. I wish their peanut sauce was thicker as it was kind of giving peanut dressing versus sauce, but nonetheless still tasty.“

“It was raining, so we randomly stopped by a nearby Vietnamese spot, and it ended up being a great surprise. The broth was super rich and flavorful. I ordered the spicy shrimp noodle dish, but it wasn’t the type of noodles I expected. When I asked about it, they were kind enough to change it for me—free of charge.
The service was really friendly, and the place felt like a cozy, old-school neighborhood restaurant. Great food, great service, and a very comforting experience. Would definitely come back.“

“Yummy Vietnamese eats in a casual environment- great for takeout! We had the fried rice and beef short rib, which were great. A lot of places make their fried rice too bland, but this was just right - with seared onion and chicken, little bits of egg, and green onion. Hit the spot!“

“It’s a cute shop with pre made and made to order food/drinks. I only got a Vietnamese coffee, and it was one of the pre-made things on the shelf without ice— that’s added in afterwards. That being said, seeing how much coffee you actually got and the amount of ice they put is upsetting for a $6 coffee. Actual taste of coffee was alright. Workers are nice.“

“I only gave this place 5 stars because Google won't allow me to give them 💯! This is one of the best restaurants in the bay area! If you love spicy soup I highly recommend the numbing spicy chicken soup. My girlfriend and I are regulars, and our favorite dishes are the chicken pho, the numbing spicy soup, and the honey chili chicken wings! 🤤“

“Came to try the lemongrass chicken banh mi. The bread was mildly crunchy, and not as airy as I like. The chicken was good with some sweetness but not very lemon-grassy. I’m not sure it’s worth $11 but I think that is the going rate unless you drive farther out.
There is a covered parklet you can eat on, or you can eat inside but it’s rather dark inside.

“Monster Pho is an absolute gem, both in terms of food + value, and community support; they've just announced that until SNAP benefits are fully restored, kids under 12 can get pho for free if you show them your SNAP card (and a discount for parents, but no purchase necessary for the kids' pho).
I could not be prouder or more grateful to have a business like this in our area. Get some delicious food and support their community efforts! I love their bahn mi, it's definitely one of the best values in the area, and I've never had to wait long for take out (can't speak to dine-in service but I would guess it's also fab).“

““Phở Hương Quê” basically means pho of the homeland, and it really tastes like it. I grew up in Southern Vietnam and I’m pretty picky about Vietnamese food in the Bay, but this spot hits.
It’s a low key hole in the wall with handwritten menus in Vietnamese, which is always a good sign. They have a special vegetarian section of the menu with tons of options, which is nice because many Vietnamese spots are usually not vegetarian friendly.
The grilled shrimp and vegetarian vermicelli bowls are so good. Vermicelli can be hit or miss since a lot of places don’t season the protein enough, but here everything is super flavorful, nicely marinated, and perfectly charred. The fish sauce ties it all together and they give you extra if you request for it.
Spring rolls are bomb too.
They’re on DoorDash and other delivery apps, but you’ll save a few bucks just going in, and even more if you pay cash. It’s also just a few blocks from Lake Merritt so it’s an easy stop.“

“This place is SO GOOD. We ended up going here because our fav spot was closed on Sundays… this is our new spot now.
Get the pho, banh mi, rice plates… doesn’t matter. We tried it all and it’s all fantastic.
Staff is super nice and attentive as well. They deserve more recognition.“

“This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the Bay Area. Where else can you get authentic Bun Bo Hue and Mi Quang, except maybe San Jose and SF, and they give you a ton of veggies, unlike most restaurants. Plus you always get a grissly bone with your Bun Bo Hue, and pork blood, otherwise it wouldn't be authentic! If you like vietnamese food, you gotta come here. Trust me, I grew up eating vietnamese food and have been to Vietnam, including Da Nang, where my wife was born, and it doesn't get much better than this. 5 stars“

“The pho is great. You get to pick your meats. A lot simpler menu than some Viet places. Flavors are good. Meat is good. Where else can you get a beef rib and brisket on pho for only 17 bucks
Takeout worked out very well too for pho soup“

“There is a reason they sell out early everyday! Really delicious grilled pork, chicken or combo bahn mi. The fresh baguette is my favorite part. There is something about it that makes the sandwich taste even better than other places.
Great value. $6 per bahn mi. If you buy 4 sandwiches, you get a $2 discount. My favorite bahn mis!“
“Genuinely, everything I got was good. We’re visiting from NYC and now I gotta go tell them there’s major competition! Bread in the banh mi was perfect, all the grilled meat was perfectly grilled and not even remotely dry, everything was fresh, house made sriracha and chili sauce. Best sea salt creme coffee I’ve had in years. Very friendly service, they even offered free ube ice cream which I ended up buying because it was so good!!“

“Super super pho is my go-to Vietnamese spot in Berkeley/Emeryville. And so reasonably priced.
I always get the original banh no with the pate. Soo good with the freshnwss of the herbs and acidity and sweetness of the pickled carrots and diakon.
The beef pho with 3 kinds of beef is warm and hearty. Their broth is clear and so flavorful.
Will be back again and again.“

“Tigon is excellent, above par, a hidden gem on San Pablo. I've probably been here 5-6 times now with my fiance. She gets the same thing every time: Catfish Sweet and Sour Soup and she swears it gets better every single time. On the other hand, I try something new every time because each dish I've had has been better than the last. Catfish Claypot, Pho, and Papaya Salad are all big hitters.“

“This place is absolutely phenomenal! I got the chicken pho, which had a marinated chicken option. Soup broth was very tasty. My husband got the banh mi combo, which comes with a broth soup and an imperial roll. They also have a nice juicer and makes refreshing fruit/veggie juices to round the meal out. I got the Refresher juice which has cucumber, Apple, mint. Service was great too! A lot of natural light in the restaurant. Good vibes.“

“Can't rly give atmosphere 5 stars because it's takeout only but the wife and I love this place! Banh mi is excellent, as are the bowls of whatever. I don't think there's anything the owner chef woman can't make well. She used to run 3 restaurants! Also she is an angel. Go there for the owner chef woman if nothing else. Also egg rolls and crab rangoon are yummy.
Vegetarian options: Dishes that don't have meat“

“Super fresh banh mi with organic tofu! (4/5 Green Stars)
I wish I had tried this place earlier! I had the banh mi with organic tofu for lunch and the total cost, including tax and a 20% tip was $10.50! I was ravenous and had some concerns that it may not be enough – or come fast enough! However, the lady who took my order prepped the sandwich in as much time as it took me to take a few photos. Also, there was really a lot of tofu in the sandwich – two thick layers of it – so in the end it was pretty darn filling.
There were several memorable things about the sandwich, which I ate without any distraction even though I would normally read while eating. The bread was at a perfect state of crispiness – like a proper French roll – very light and also lightly toasted. The crunchy veggies – the daikon in particular, added a freshness to it that counterbalanced the umami of soy and tofu. I’ve only had a couple of banh mi sandwiches in my time but this one was not only the best so far but has also set a pretty high bar to measure others against.
I’m giving the Sidewalk Street Food 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. It’s a woman-owned and run business that offers affordable food in a fairly unaffordable neighborhood. Every dish option – banh mi, salad bowl, pho, and spring rolls all had a tofu option. Some of the other options – chicken and pork – are among the more sustainable choices for meat eaters. However, beef and shrimp are among the worst options Sidewalk loses a star for that. My sandwich was pretty much zero-waste in that it was wrapped in a sheet of paper and delivered in a reusable basket.“

“Cam Ahn is my favorite hole-in-the-wall bánh mì spot in Oakland Chinatown, hands down. It’s one of those places you almost want to keep a secret… but it’s too good not to share.
The real reason this is my go-to? I eat plant-based, and they make the freshest, most delicious shredded tofu spring rolls and bánh mì. Not an afterthought, not a sad substitute—this is legit, flavorful, crave-worthy food you honestly can’t find everywhere.
And then there’s the Chinese donut. Absolutely evil. Crispy, airy, dangerously good—the kind you think about later and suddenly need again.
The service seals the deal. Ahn, the owner, and her staff genuinely make you feel at home every single time. Warm, kind, and welcoming in that way that keeps you coming back even when you weren’t planning to.
If you’re in the area and want amazing food with heart behind it, Cam Ahn is it. 🌱🥖🔥“

“Some friends told me about this Pho King place, so I decided to try it out for myself. From the time I entered the Pho King Restaurant, I was greeted by smiling faces. Every Pho King employee was attentive to my needs from the time I was seated, to the presentation of the check. I’m definitely a Pho King fan, and planning on returning soon!“

“I really enjoyed this place. I bit outside the downtown area but in a nice street with several other places. The interior is relatively small but well decorated. This place is best for 2-4 people. The food was cooked by a seasoned cook from the motherland. They only had one server when we went there for lunch, but things moved relatively well. I really enjoyed the mocktails. The food was all around solid with a lot of flavor and plenty full. They also have an extensive selection of cocktails. Overall, I would give this place a visit and enjoy some really good Vietnamese food.“

“The pho has a very New York, homemade flavor — absolutely love it. It’s rich, comforting, and hits all the right notes. With all due respect, though, I’d recommend sticking to the main dishes. The desserts don’t quite match the quality of the meals.“

“Pretty solid pho, thee flavors aren't too complex and a dish like bun bo hue is missing all the fixings like pork trotter and blood cubes, and there wasn't too much broth flavor distinction between it and the pho, but pretty good. The service was really great, friendly and prompt. Cute little restaurant“

“The luncheon meal served to me was catered and was delivered promptly to our dinning location with a group of twenty people celebrating two birthdays. The order was still hot from its preparation and arrived with all necessary flatware along with a celebratory and festive attitude. The catered food was roasted chicken thigh and leg served with tender cabbage and perfectly steamed fluffy white rice. The chicken had an appealing medium roasted brown color prepared with what I could taste as soy based seasoning, slight sweetness and other enhancing aromatic flavors. The chicken was roasted to an ideal doneness and was tender and juicy, flavorful, easy to cut and of a sizable quantity. The gracious lady appearing with the catered order was courteous and kind, prompt as I mentioned and made sure the delivery was as exactly requested. The entire experience was positive, the roasted chicken was delicious, it all went smoothly and I would definitely suggested Camille Restaurant to others.“

“Absolutely love the chicken pho here! Despite the plethora of pho places in this area, I always find myself coming back here to get my pho fix. The broth is intoxicating with a very generous portion of noodles (the Xtra large is massive!). What also stands out is the service. They’re always very welcoming, fast to take orders and bring the food out with a smile on their face. In fact, they remember my order most of the time and ask to confirm before they get it going (love). They’re also open a little later than most of the pho places which is a plus with my work schedule, just make sure to arrive at least 45 min before closing if you plan to eat in (they usually make you do take out if you get there less than 30 before closing which I think is fair). Highly recommend!“

“Came in and was seated quick, polite staff and a clean dining room.
I ordered a bahn mi, fried fish cakes and a bowl of the #1 beef.
The broth was had dimension, flavor, it complimented every ingredient in a different way. The portion was generous and the beef was actually tender. They actually included pieces of beef still on the bone which I've never seen before at a pho restaurant.
The Bahn-mi was served on fresh bread, it was dense and had a perfect bite to it. The crust crispy and light and the ingredients were fresh too.
The fried fish cakes were fried to perfection and had a bouncy texture I really enjoyed.
Give this place a try, it's my new favorite pho in the east bay.“

“One of the best Vietnamese places around. It's a local favorite for a reason. The egg rolls are not to be passed up, and the bahn mis are flavorful and delicious as well. The rice plates are huge and always leave leftovers or are shareable. I also really like that the iced coffee doesn't come insanely sweet automatically. It's half evaporated milk half sweetened condensed unless you specify otherwise, and you get a stronger and better coffee for it.“
