“Chef Frank Japanese Cuisine was an unforgettable dining experience because of how authentic and detail-focused everything was. The restaurant itself is simple and elegant, with a peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed as soon as you sit down. I started with miso soup and edamame, both of which were fresh and comforting. Then I moved on to sushi, and it was some of the best I’ve had in Sacramento. The fish was incredibly fresh, sliced with precision, and served beautifully. Every roll was balanced perfectly - nothing felt overdone or overly flashy. I also ordered a sashimi platter, and each piece melted in my mouth. The rice was seasoned just right, which made a big difference in the overall experience. The staff were professional and attentive, refilling drinks without me ever having to ask. What impressed me most was how much care went into the details - from the plating to the timing of each course. It felt like Chef Frank and his team truly honor the traditions of Japanese cuisine. I left feeling both full and grateful for the experience.“

“Gift card scam. Mikunis implemented a new protocol in 2022. Any gift cards that were purchased before a certain (unknown) date, and now utilized, will be zeroed out. Back story: I attempted to use a gift card today (April 2023) and was informed it had a zero balance. The server kept my card. I had a gut feeling, asked for the card back. I spoke to the manager about how I could have a zero balance when I had never used it. The manager informed me that corporate zeroed out all gift cards that weren’t used. In order for me to get my money on the gift card, I have to call corporate headquarters and “request” an inquiry; which I did to no avail. It’s not about “expired” gift cards. It’s about not informing consumers ahead of a new rule that gift cards be zeroed out before a certain date. I’ve used 10 year old gift cards at other restaurants without any problem. Biggest scam ever.“

They have a great menu full of different options and a lot of drinks! The waitress was super nice in recommending different drinks and offered us a sample when we went sure what to order. I love that they were open late and the rolls were affordable. But I wonder at 50% off, I'm not sure why they most of the rolls were around $23 to $25 per roll to begin with? When you advertise that, it makes it seem like you are desperate for business and dont get many customers but also a marketing tactic to jack up the prices to make it seem like a great deal, when in fact, that's what the price should be. Not really fooling anyone there. I say discontinut with the discount thing and just set an affordable price.“

“All you eat shushi buffet, order abd they’ll make fresh and can also order from the menu as well. Prices vary from lunch to dinner was $27, plus drinks and takeout box was $6 time a tiny box that only fits 8 shushi. Order digitally from the table. This place is always packed, arrive early. Ice cream is one scoop per bowl, so order two for each person. Same with appetizers 2 pieces per order, so order more than one! Not bad for the prices. If you love shushi this is the place for you!“

“Ate in and the food was decent. Got a to go order for my family member and it has zero sauce and was obviously rushed and thrown together lazily. The to-go should at least resemble the dine in food. The exact same roll ended up looking like crap and had no sauce at all. What a bummer..when you pay a premium for sushi you should get decent sushi. This was crap and I can't believe they served it to us after we had just spent a bunch of money eating in. We won't be back. If getting to go, check your food. They do not care about the customer and will sneak awful rolls into your bag without care.“

The maitre d’ is warm and welcoming and offers great recommendations to guide you towards their freshest and choicest seafood. “This is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento without question. I moved to the area about three years ago now, and it quickly became my go-to comfort food. Even when the pandemic started and the restaurant shifted to takeout-only, the food remained consistently excellent. I also want to say 'thank you' to the couple that runs the restaurant as well.
