I seriously can’t believe I’m only trying this spot now—I literally live right around the corner! This Japanese restaurant is an absolute gem. The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Every bite felt like a treat. The rest of the menu is just as good—high-quality ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors all around.

The service was amazing—super friendly and attentive without being over the top. The atmosphere is cozy but modern, with a calm, welcoming vibe that made the whole dining experience even better.

And the parking? Tons of it. No stress

I already can’t wait to come back—and next time, I’m definitely trying their Omakase. If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not), do yourself a favor and check this place out. Total hidden gem!“

“Only been here once but I am ready to go back! Came here for dinner with my friend and it was a great experience. We sat outside since it was a bit busy inside, but the staff were so nice and welcoming that we didn't feel at all like the service was impacted by the amount of people.

They have a great menu full of different options and a lot of drinks! The waitress was super nice in recommending different drinks and offered us a sample when we went sure what to order. If the weather is nice and you're craving sushi come here and sit outside! Perfect for date night or girls night!“

“Gift card scam. Mikunis implemented a new protocol in 2022. Any gift cards that were purchased before a certain (unknown) date, and now utilized, will be zeroed out. Back story: I attempted to use a gift card today (April 2023) and was informed it had a zero balance. The server kept my card. I had a gut feeling, asked for the card back. I spoke to the manager about how I could have a zero balance when I had never used it. The manager informed me that corporate zeroed out all gift cards that weren’t used. In order for me to get my money on the gift card, I have to call corporate headquarters and “request” an inquiry; which I did to no avail. It’s not about “expired” gift cards. It’s about not informing consumers ahead of a new rule that gift cards be zeroed out before a certain date. I’ve used 10 year old gift cards at other restaurants without any problem. Biggest scam ever.“

I love that they were open late and the rolls were affordable. But I wonder at 50% off, I'm not sure why they most of the rolls were around $23 to $25 per roll to begin with? When you advertise that, it makes it seem like you are desperate for business and dont get many customers but also a marketing tactic to jack up the prices to make it seem like a great deal, when in fact, that's what the price should be. “All you eat shushi buffet, order abd they’ll make fresh and can also order from the menu as well. Prices vary from lunch to dinner was $27, plus drinks and takeout box was $6 time a tiny box that only fits 8 shushi. Order digitally from the table. This place is always packed, arrive early. Ice cream is one scoop per bowl, so order two for each person. Same with appetizers 2 pieces per order, so order more than one! Not bad for the prices. If you love shushi this is the place for you!“

“Ran in for a quick takeaway order. I'm impressed bc the food is tasty, the staff is polite, the dining room is cute, and the business is environmentally friendly.

Food: $8 for 2 pc sake (salmon) nigiri. Fish portion is huge and fresh. Sushi rice is prepared and seasoned well. $13 for chicken karaage. Super crunchy, marinated thigh pieces served with lemon and spicy mayo. Also a good portion.

Packaging: My to-go order was packaged in all recyclable or biodegradable materials! This is something I dont always see here in Sacramento. Staff also asked what supplies I might need (chopsticks, wasabi, soy sauce) to cut down on waste. Really appreciate these conscientious business practices.

Ambience: There is bar seating by the sushi chef. More bar further away. Tables are spacious and comfy looking. TVs showing sports games when I went in. I'll definitely be back for dining in to have a beer and dinner! See you soon.“

“Ate in and the food was decent. Got a to go order for my family member and it has zero sauce and was obviously rushed and thrown together lazily. The to-go should at least resemble the dine in food. The exact same roll ended up looking like crap and had no sauce at all. What a bummer..when you pay a premium for sushi you should get decent sushi. This was crap and I can't believe they served it to us after we had just spent a bunch of money eating in. We won't be back. If getting to go, check your food. They do not care about the customer and will sneak awful rolls into your bag without care.“

“This was my first time visiting. I recommend trying the tempura and pepper fins they were great it had a really nice presentation. I also tried the California roll, which tasted okay, though the rice had a weird color that threw me off a bit. Overall, the service was a positive experience“

“This is my favorite restaurant in Sacramento without question. I moved to the area about three years ago now, and it quickly became my go-to comfort food. Even when the pandemic started and the restaurant shifted to takeout-only, the food remained consistently excellent. I also want to say 'thank you' to the couple that runs the restaurant as well. They're both very kind and treat their customers well. P.S. I heartily recommend the house-made Thai iced tea.“

“Been eating at Hana Tsubaki for 30 years and it’s consistently fantastic. The sushi is innovative and fresh and the salmon teriyaki is a favorite. Great saki selection as well.“
