Although I was only 18-19, Compagno’s established my standard for an amazing sandwich. 32 years later I brought my sons here for lunch. Same delicious goodness a generation later.“

Grand Mariner, Chocolate, and the pièce de résistance, a Passion Fruit soufflé for dessert were also outstanding. Service remains friendly and personal. However... daylight service lacks the ambiance of an intimate upscale Parisian bistro. Ivan and Lisa have no control over the construction site across the street. And, without the glow of the table lamps the interior feels sterile, something that (flowers, different pillows, art work... something) could address. Still, a cold glass of Champagne, classic salade verte, elevated savory (mushroom for me) soufflé, followed by a cloud of sweetness with dessert sauce or vanilla ice cream is a treat. Plus one can walk it off on Carmel Beach after: Win:Win!“

“I just want to say absolutely delicious food! I usually always back myself out of ordering new things but I decided to order this noodle soup with things I thought I’d like. When the soup arrived and I tried it, it was DELICIOUS! Our appetizer of fried vegetables w/shrimp was absolutely delicious. Both sushi rolls we ordered were great! Usually California rolls can be more on the basic side and have less of an enhancing flavor but they did such a great job with the seasonings and toppings! I was very happy with my meal. We were visiting out of town and I said we had to stop by!
It does it get packed, we went about 6 o clock and we had to wait outside for seating for like 15 minutes. Then we go seated and our food came in roughly 15 minutes as well. My food didn’t come out at the same time as my partners as I had hoped, so we just waited.

Overall, the staff was friendly and most importantly the food was delicious. Would 100% recommend to family and friends!“

And my salad was the perfect size to complement the large portion of the hot Turkey. I added a little Tabasco cause that what I do. I thought I was finished until the little waitress offered dessert 🍨. I ordered a piece of their home made apple 🍎 pie 🎉🎊😱. People let me tell you this is a bucket lister. “I wanted to write the perfect review but I won't be able to do that. The people there were so nice and so warm. The location is in an old house in historic downtown Pacific Grove. But I can't let this go, the prices were high (as expected) and then they did the old trick of, "Did you want chorizo with that"....without telling you it's a $6 upcharge for two teaspoons added on top of your $17 plate of chiliquilies. So for $23, you get a full plate, I mean piled high of tortilla chips covered in a homemade red sauce (delicious). A table or teaspoonful of queso fresco per the recipe (delicious), two fried eggs, and sour cream on the side, (awesome). Most recipes for this dish that I've eaten will offer a choice of protein. Chorizo is a very common breakfast protein for this recipe. I would argue that it should be part of the recipe regardless but if you ask people, "Do you want chorizo on that?", many will say yes for the reasons I mentioned above. But when the bill comes watch out. It was a $6 upcharge to my $17 choice of breakfast. If it's an upcharge you have to tell me in advance. "Do I want it?", is one question. "Do I want it for the price you will charge me?", has to be a separate question. If it's some amount that high, an extra 1/3 of the price of my breakfast, then you shoudl feel extremely obligated to tell me how much. Don't make me feel like an a-hole bringing up your sketchy business upcharge practices to you in the middle of a super-packed breakfast/brunch rush when you hand me the bill. I didn't bring it up but I wanted to, very badly. As good as the meal was the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and more than a week later I'm still shaking my head about it. For a place that thrives on tourist and word-of-mouth business, there's no reason for this type of shady business antics which leads someone like me who otherwise really enjoyed this place to go to the trouble of leaving a bad review. I probably won't go back due to this.“

“My husband & I arrived at opening and were greeted and seated right away. Customer service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I both ordered Lunch Box specials and shared a J's Maki roll. Food was fresh and our server was attentive, checking in on us every little while to make sure everything was okay. “You know this place is authentic when you see all the Chinese people eating here for Chinese New Year’s! The owners are so sweet and the food is authentic. I wanted fish for the holiday and she made sure we got the right kind for good luck. She took the time to understand what I was looking for and made such delicious food. I really felt like I was back at home at this restaurant. The owner spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin too, which was so lovely. It’s hard to find an authentic Chinese atmosphere like this on the peninsula. Good vibes. Highly recommend.“
