Don't miss these Saratoga Mexican restaurant gems.
“They have so many different types of wraps it's hard to rate from one try, but so far the baja california wrap was pretty good. The smoothies are just alright. I like the layout of the place, and it's great that they have a lot of healthier wrap options (I didn't choose one this time).“
“The food was tasty and made with high quality ingredients. They had the best cocktails and Andrés was kind enough to make great recommendations and explained to us the different cocktail components. Service was superb and now that I know they also serve breakfast, we will be back soon. Highly recommended!!“
“Getting Cochinita Pabil to split for two. Pork was super tender and the pickeled red onions. The Queso with homemade corn tortillas. Our server, Able was on top of it! He spoke to the bartender to ask about making a Oaxacan Old Fashioned (not on menu). The Lunarittas are great!“
“My wife and I stopped by El Halal Amigos because 1) I had it bookmarked from Yelp reviews 2) Rave review from one of the baker's at Susiecakes bakery. As we were walking over, we thought, "Oh, this replaced the burger place." Outdoor and indoor seating available. Upbeat and fast tempo house music playing. Nicely and festive decorations. Service was super friendly and nice. You order at the front, get your number, and they will bring your food to your table. Birria Nar-Chos: Nachos, Birria Meat, Nacho Cheese, Chips, Pico De Gallo, Sour Cream, Jalapenos, Nar Sauce. Pretty good portion size and the amount of meat is pretty good. The birria meat is tender and moist. A shareable meal! Burrito Super: Choice of filling, pinto or black beans, spanish rice, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, crema & guacamole. We also got the birria meat. This was a tasty burrito.“
“Great food, AMAZING owner!Definitely the truck I'm hitting up from now on! My friends and I had the tacos and quesabirria, all so delicious, the meats had great flavor, all the salsas were so fresh (esp the avocado one! Omg). Absolutely adore the owner, she's so kind and so fun! You won't regret hitting up this truck!“
“I visited this gem on a Sunday and it was busier than I anticipated so I had to wait. Not a big deal and wasn't a long time. Once inside, I was able to order right away. I Iooove mariscos and had a hard time making a choice because everything looked so delicious. I was torn between a vasiloco and Aguachiles. I ultimately decided on a Super Chavela, Aguachiles Tricolor, and a roll of sushi. I can't remember specifically what sushi roll I got because the star of the show was definitely the aguachiles!! The Chavela was ice cold and so refreshing. It did a great job of relieving the heat from the aguachiles. The aguachiles were so fresh and flavorful. I've honestly been craving more ever since and will be back soon for that vasiloco!!!“
“Margarita Taqueria is a taco truck located in a parking lot. There are tables around a liquor store that you can eat at. One of the best tacos I ever! Meat was well seasoned and the portion size of the meat was good. I got the chipotle and green sauce and it was amazing. The complementary pickled red onions was a nice palate cleanser. I highly recommend getting the birria soup. It came with large chunks of tender meat, tortilla, white onions, cilantro, and chili. There was so much flavor in the soup. My friends got the super burrito and it was huge!!! It was the size of their forearms. Definitely worth the price.“
“This is by far, my favorite "mexican" breakfast burrito. I usually don't care for beans and rice in my breakfast burrito BUT, it is really good. I have had the #5 with bacon and hot dogs, and also the chorizo breakfast burrito with hotdogs. All legit! My only mark against was the service can be a tad slow. 4 people behind me got their breakfast burritos before I got mine. That won't stop me from coming back tho.“
“Puesto never disappoints! Good drinks and amazing food. Our server Masha was outstanding as well. She was very nice and paid attention to our needs. Highly recommend her and the restaurant. Will definitely come back.Vegetarian options: Food is good. Limited vegetarian options though, would love a wider selection.“
“Love the flakyness of the empanadas, great flavours love the mole and chicken one.I feel like they could definitely toast the empanadas a bit more though so they're not too soft.Of the sweet ones, I liked the guava empanada. Not the friendliest of staff though but I'm guessing they were just tired?I'll be back to try the cochinita pibil one.“
“This restaurant has a wide variety of authentic Mexican food. It has an indoor dining room, but it is low-end. The bathroom room is outdoors on the side of the building. The establishment is friendly. You go here for the food. They are one lare.“
“My son and I were Eating beef and steak tacos and the tacos were great but could have a bit more spice, the service wasn't bad either we got our food in a minute or two and the tacos were different than any other tacos we have tasted and the salsas were great btw we will come back soon.Great foodTacos differ ncwSalsas was goodWe will come back“
“Super 100% recommended, my family and I are loving this place, I have already eaten several meals from the menu and they are all super delicious, today I had a Cuban cake and wow I was surprised, my family also loved it.I have to say that all the staff is very friendly, very good customer service, I have always seen them wearing gloves, they always greet you with a smile and bring the food to the table (which they don't do in any other food truck) They have what to try?“
“Pros: Food was delicious and was a surprisingly hearty portion for the price ($26.05 after tax + tip). I ordered a bento box from Azuma with chicken katsu, pork gyoza and a California roll. Food came with a side salad, miso soup, and rice as well.Cons: The food did however take a long time to come out and the kiosk system is confusing as only 2 of them have all the options and the other 3 each only have one food location each. When I order food again, I’ll probably see if I can order it before walking over instead.Other notes: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options from many of the cloud kitchens which was nice to see for others.Although I took my meal to go, there was plenty of open seating despite how busy it was at noon.“
“Manny and his staff trear you like family. They are so attentive, professional, and friendly. The food is outstanding. Love the jalapeño dipping sauce. Fresh made chips and tortillas! We have the deluxe grill for 4, and there was so much meat we could not finish it all. The dessert, are a must to finish the meal.“
“Clean, festive, and incredibly delicious! I tried the calimari the first time, a quick stop, and was impressed with the clean, lovely restaurant, the service, and the incredibly perfect appetizer. With a little more time today, I decided to try the dine-in experience... even better! The chips and delicious house salsa are accompanied by a generous portion of lime... trust me, a few drops of lime unified and elevated this simple appetizer. Care was obviously taken when choosing this combination, and the chips were hearty and flavorful; possibly stone-ground? The shrimp are fresh, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with decadent flavor. Add the excellent produce and incredible sauce and you have a can't miss experience... the lowly shrimp is elevated to VIP status here, carefully prepared and paired with incredible fresh produce carefully prepared. Hands down the best tacos camerones I have ever had. Run, don't walk, to try this cozy, beloved restaurant just off Saratoga. You will thank me, I promise you!“
“The food served here needs the sense of taste. They made a burrito bowl for us, I am not sure whether it was on the menu. It was vibrant, tangy, and so satisfying. The chicken tacos had an earthy flavor. I would definitely be a repeat customer!“
“Totally enjoy meal with family here - the service was brisk & cheerful, the food was well & the tostadas and wraps were light, crispy, tasty ….. had to go for my half portion as it was a big plate. Love the chips & salsa dips.“
“Went here for the 1st time with my husband, and their food is amazing. They have great customer service and are very friendly. My husband got the Chili Relleno burrito, and we got the tacos. Everything was delicious and fresh. We have gone back there already 3 times. I highly recommend this place. Great customer, great food, and great prices.“
“Near a curve on a four line road is an eclectic older Mexican restaurant with artistic merit, interesting landscaping outdoor dining and several different kinds of tables and chairs indoors, including a bar.The menu has several options many of which I had not seen in Mexican food places before. I have tried their tamales, chili relleno, black beans, pinto beans, rice, grilled chicken, quesadilla, pico, guacamole, and the provided chips and salsa. All of the flavors are excellent. The green sauce and masa of the tamale, and the firm aged relleno cheese filling were outstanding.Indoors is Mexican music, while outdoors there is traffic noise. The tortilla chips are the thin triangle bagged kind. The restroom has an old sink and fixtures. But the custom artwork, high ceilings with paper fiesta decor and painted furniture are classic south of the border. The seats are all flat wood, no cushions. No sauce bar or extra hot sauce present. Will need another visit to try the mole.Vegetarian options: Enchiladas are great.“
“Aquis menu is a unique and wonderful blend of Mexican, Asian and American. The food is beautifully prepared and presented. The only complaint is that the restaurant inside is very loud. I try to find a table outside or in the bar area where it is a little quieter.Vegetarian options: Wonderful delicious choices.Kid-friendliness: No special accommodations for kids but plenty of families there.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheelchair access including bathrooms.“
“One of the best tacos in the South Bay. Please go out of your way to come this particular Lopez Taqueria location. The others are just not as good. The al pastor marinade was unique from other taco spots and had depth. The lengua tacos here are my favorite in the South Bay. It had a unique sauce it was stewed in and the texture is perfect. I like my lengua with a little chew and this was right up my alley. The chile verde was tender (and not the dry kind of tender). It was slow cooked and moist while the other location felt like it was boiled hard. Carnitas tasted good, it's standard, not the best I've ever had. Avoid the fish tacos - it's just bunch of dry fish sticks on a tortilla, not a big piece of juicy fish like most people expect. I like how they have chili oil on the tables. It adds a nice smokey touch. I wish they had orange sauce like the other taco spots in SJ (Spartans, La Vics, etc). The service here is extremely friendly. I come here pretty occasionally and the food is consistent. I'll definitely be back!“
“What's special about Tia Juana was that we were welcomed with a smile and both food and service were a killer.Located at the corner of a strip mall, it's a little gem in Sunnyvale and a haven of delicious food and pleasant service. The restaurant was decorated with large mural paintings with bold colors, embedding a strong element of Mexican culture. The vibe was vivid and affable with clean and comfortable setting. We ordered a combo plate of tostada and enchiladas and a burrito. My Tostada was excellent with crispy tasted carnitas, fresh veggies and various cheeses. I was curious about the white soft crumbling cheese spreaded on Tostada and found out later from web search that it's younger Cotija cheese. The Cotija was mild, unlike pungent Feta, although similar in looks when crumbled. And I really liked it.The combination of everything in Tostada that captivated my taste buds and heart. It was the best version I've had.Enchiladas was full of meat of my choice- shredded beef which was tender, juicy and full of flavors. The corn tortilla, soaked in red chilli sauce added extra layer of savory. I felt like eating home-made meal. The combo plate was large at a reasonable price ($15), totally blew me away with its quality. They charge for salsa and chips and serve Menudo on weekends.Highly recommend Tia Juana and would love to come back.“
“Being from Hawaii, we aren't known for our Mexican food so when we come to California (any part of California), we are usually on the hunt for some. We found this amazing food truck in a gas station parking lot and it had the most amazing tacos we've ever had! We ordered 3 tacos, each with a different meat. The staff was friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. The tortillas were fresh and soft, the fillings were yummy, and the salsas were absolutely delicious! I'm so glad we came across them and hope to be able to sample more from them one day!!! We highly recommend that everyone try them out!“
“Update: Visited again in Jan 2024 and still is the reigning king/queen of pozole in the Bay Area. This spot has the best Pozole in the Bay Area for only $9 a cup as of Dec. 2022. Make sure to try some of their orange sauce! Burritos are also delicious! I'm gonna come back to try some of the sangria too“
“Very very good food. I had regular taco with carne asada, el jefe taco with pastor, and a side of rice. Everything tasted great. Would definitely recommend the el jefe taco. That was amazing and I will be returning in the future to get that and try other items as well.“
“Good tacos, but the quesabirria is so damn good! Beware: it's the kind of food that you don't want to stop eating because it's so yummy, even when you're stuffed! Recently you can't tip on the card though, so it's more of a hassle, otherwise it would be 5 stars.“
“Phenomenal tacos!!!! So much flavor and fresh ingredients. Great serving sizes, great price! Ordered a Carne Quesadilla and 2 chicken tacos! Not sure what the drink was, but it’s pineapple flavored and delicious as well!! Highly recommend!!“
“My friend recommended we meet at Casa Villa for a meal and we both left satisfied! There are countless Mexican restaurants throughout San Jose but we came since the restaurant offered vegetarian and vegan options. It's an unassuming, humble, and no-frills establishment. The restaurant is colorfully decorated and quite spacious and the service was good but a bit distant. There's indoor and outdoor seating available--we chose the former. We enjoyed our plant-based food! We both ordered their Vegan Chile Relleno. I've never tried a Chille Relleno prior because of the meat and cheese but found their version to be sufficient. It was packed with various vegetables, the portion was reasonable, and the tortillas were appreciated. I just wish it had a bit more seasoning or flavor to it. I also got a Horchata to drink which was creamy and delicious. They serve plenty of food from appetizers, entrees, drinks, and a happy hour menu!Casa Villa is a great Mexican cuisine option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in Willow Glen. The restaurant is off Willow Street with a free lot in front. The establishment is small on the outside but offers options for all in the area.“
“If you're looking to experience the warmth of a family meal, then this is the place to be. Henry and his family make you feel like you're a part of their own. The food is nothing short of the best home-cooked meal, and I absolutely love their breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The drinks are great! (The margarita and Chavela are a few of my favorites) I have no intention of ever finding another go-to Mexican food spot. This place is truly special, and I'll continue making it my top choice.“
“One of the most authentic mexican restaurants I have tried in the bay so far.I got the chicken enchilada which was super yummy. The portions are generous for the price.Specially love the variety of self serve salsas they have. Also liked the ambiance of the restaurant which does justice to the type of cuisine served.Would recommend dining.“
“Updating my older review: I've been coming here for years, since it's a reliable place with fair prices and quality food. (Sometimes I eat here once a week when I'm in town for work). In recent months, though, I've noticed a subtle change. The tomatillo soup (a longtime favorite) is now thinner, with less flavor. I've still been ordering it, but it's not what it was. And now, tonight, the bowl had substantially less soup- about 3/4 of what it usually is. And I also noticed the burrito was a little bit smaller. I'm always satisfied and don't get hungry for the rest of the night after eating here, but not this time. Shrinkflation? Hmmm. I give 4 stars, but I hope they continue the great quality and portions that I've grown to rely on at Aqui. If so, I'll gladly give them 5 stars again.Kid-friendliness: Plenty of families with kids here.“
“We ordered a mulita with pastor, 3 tacos (asada, pastor, and salmon!), two gorditas with asada, and a torta with picadillo. The tortillas and gorditas were made in front of us while the rest of the food cooked, and everything was prepared quickly. Everything was delicious, but the biggest surprise was the salmon taco which isn't offered anywhere else. A nice piece of grilled salmon served with a tangy coleslaw.Highly recommend this place.“
“Delicious and savory food, one item that stood out to me was their elote wich was fried, I never tried it like that before and it was so good. Kind of disappointed when I ordered the churros and at the picture they present an ice cream and it didn't come with it, when I called the server to ask for it he said they didn't even had the ice cream, and it was just for the pic, so keep that in mind ?Staff is okay, place is a little loud but it's understandable for a bar“
“Wonderful and modern food truck. Was walking around the city looking for a healthy meal. I approached Carlos and asked for his help to make me something healthy and clean. He prepared me a phenomenal Colombian dish with chicken. Highly recommend stopping by“
“Where do I start???? I got some tamales and a super carnitas burrito. The two ladies inside were also super nice and was able to get my food at a quick time to go back to work. Now down to the bottom line, the food was incredible. Sauces were Devine. There's a lot of food trucks that stop by and come and go but this one is superb! Highly recommend on any given day! Mucho gracias“
“A little gem in downtown Campbell that our local friends recommended. Parking was not easy. After looking around a bit we finally found parking on street about 5 minutes away. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed, reservations only. It was a vibrant and beautiful place, albeit very small with only a few tables inside and some outdoor. The drinks were very creative and pretty. My margarita fresca with watermelon juice and two water melon balls rolled in salt and chili flakes was surprisingly a great combination, although the drink itself tasted a bit bland. The enchiladas verde was served artistically and tasted heavenly, with very flavorful and moist chicken meats inside that almost melt in your mouth. They allow you to mix and match the street tacos and we sample all three with meats. The al pastor one was tasty, and the steak one was good too but for some reason it tasted slightly bitter to me. Crispy fish tacos had beautiful presentation and were a hit! Overall it’s a great place with a whimsical twist on Mexican food and drinks, a little pricey for tacos but you pay for the ambience and artistry of the chef and mixologists.Parking: Downtown Campbell can get very busy on weekends and the nearby public parking lots get filled up quickly. Street parking is possible near the historic water tower.Kid-friendliness: It is more a date place than a family restaurant.“
“Luv their menu!!! It's nice to sit outside or meet a client on the lovely patio. The fajitas are the best, the homemade chips & salsa (ask for the spicy habenero) are an extra $2, just wow! Try Taco Teusdays and Thirsty Thursdays for some deals ?“
“Five stars for the EL Chore was a banger! I brought my mom out for some grub and on the way back from walking we found this place on Hillsdale and Paul Moore Park. This spot is popular so arrive early because the line can get long with a wait to match. hahaha. I got an incredibly large carne asada deluxe quesadilla, they served it with three huge parts and they add grilled onions with it. Suffice to say that I will go back to this joint to order more food. Go!Enso forever!Birria bread bowl.Mulita.Churros. Birria spring rolls."Art is like therapy; what comes up is what comes up. It may be dark, but that's what comes up. You may want to keep some of it in a drawer... but never judge it." ― Nick Bantock“
“The food is absolutely delicious, the owners are nice, and the music is rad. The Quesabirria comes with 3 large tacos with beef birria and cheese with a side of consume, radishes, onions, lebu, green and red salsa. The tacos tasted AWESOME! Wasn’t a fan of the onion. Consume was flavorful. Green and red salsa had a tie, equally tasty.“
“I ordered takeout during my lunch break the burrito was super good and the salsa was not spicy which I love. The restaurant was full the parking was also full but I was able to find a spot right away also they had great service everyone was very friendly ☺️“
“Love that they have mexican music as u eatLove their salsa their jalepenos in vinegar with carrots and cabbage! Love their flan not overly sweet. Love their homemade corn tortillas. Love their shrimp fajitas, love the fact that they work with you . Their chicken mole is good too.Always bustling I n that little place. Good Molcajetes!Wheelchair accessibility: They have a table specified for wheelchair accessibility.“
“Do not order online. You will not receive an itemized receipt, or an email confirmation, and you will be charged $2 for the "convenience" of ordering online, which is actually more convenient for the vendor.I ordered four tacos and did not get even a few chips with it, and had to practically beg for enough salsa for the tacos. And the tip jar was pushed into my face before I even saw the food. Incredibly rude.“
“I love their tacos and grilled chicken burritos. Every time I go there I get their super burritos and some tacos on the side. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for some delicious tacos and burritos!Parking: Can park at the parking lot and on the street right by the taco truck.“
“The guajillo sauce is reason enough to come here, but everything we've tried here is amazing. This is my favorite Mexican place.Great upscale food, excellent atmosphere. The decor inside is gorgeous. During nice weather, the outside seating area is very nice as well.I've been coming here for more than 10 years now and it is always excellent.“
“Found it through Google search and picked based on ratings and was not disappointed. Casual lunch place.Vegetarian options: Grilled veggies and tofu fajitas is what I had. Good portion sizes and tasty. It was served with rice, black beans and guacamole.“
“Five stars for Mama Lupita's! The chips and salsa are always fresh, and the street tacos are flavorful and authentic. And you can't go wrong with their rice and refried beans. Great food, great service - what more could you ask for“
“I haven't been here in years. New owners are very welcoming. Food is delicious. We had the special white menudo and the carnita tacos and my twins had the shrimp dish. Omg, the menudo was my favorite. Taste just like my mom's. It was so clean and the flavor was perfect. The meat was cut in perfect bite size pieces. My new favorite local Mexican restaurant.“
“This was a second chance for this cute little restaurant. I was craving a chili relleno and because the size varies from restaurant to restaurant- I asked for two. Holy Moly! These were huge AND delicious. Everything about the meal was great. The chips are house made and the salsa is just perfect - not too spicy and plenty of flavor. The beans- just like grandma made them! Arroz was a little 'wet' for me - I like my rice a little more dry but it did have a good flavor. The star of the show was the relleno of course. The batter, the cheese, the chili - so so good!!Well done!!“
“La Cueva is one of my favorite spots to go to in the South Bay. My usual orders include any of the following: shrimp or fish burrito, fish tacos, and seafood chile relleno. Can't go wrong with the quesadillas either! The green sauce (comes with the chips) is a MUST try, so fresh and so good.“
