“Definitely coming back. It's hard to find a spot that makes good sizzling rice soup. This place had a really good broth and the soup was nice and hot (not spicy). Some place will serve you a warm to lukewarm soup, or have a bland broth. This was good. The salt & pepper shrimp was amazing. The chow fun was really good. There are actual flavor in their chow fun noodles. We also ordered one more thing that tasted like orange chicken but the flavor was way better. Also, the sweetness of the chicken was not overwhelming or too sweet at all. It was perfect.

After we received our sizzling rice soup, we didn't get the rest of our order until much later. We can tell that they forgot our order. It was understandable since they received 7 huge to-go orders in between our order. I really wanted to give the place five stars for service but that it usually a deal breaker if the food was terrible. Luckily the flavor and aroma saved the meal experience.

Place is definitely old but I like the hole in the wall look. Not the cleanest looking spot but definitely doesn't bother me. I look forward to coming back and trying other menu items.“

“just ordered food from China Gourmet in Signal Hill, Ca.. upon entering the restaurant a young man greeted me with a hello. He was pleasent and welcoming. He took my order of mushroom chicken, mixed vegetables and rice with a two order combo. I had BBQ pork, half and half and jalapeño chicken, with two drinks. Returned home and started to dive in! WOW IT WAS AMAZING! The pork was cooked just right, the chicken was extremely delicious and chow mein was actual chow mein and not Top Ramen noodles substitute. my friend who ordered the mushroom chicken and vegetables couldn't stop eating. I've been to numerous fast Chinese food places and none of them have been as good as this place with the quality of food and the amount given. the price was moderate in today's society of price gouging it was $27 and well worth it. if you enjoy Chinese food and really want to get a bang for your buck as well as and enjoyment of flavors in your mouth go to China Gourmet!“

“I was trying to find an old restaurant I used to visit for great Jjajangmyeon, and although this wasn’t the exact place I remembered, I was very satisfied.
They served a small egg soup as a welcome dish — warm, light, and comforting on an empty stomach.
During lunch time, I tried the stir-fried vegetables, which were fresh and perfectly seasoned without being too salty.
I also liked that they offered small-size bowls of Jjajangmyeon — just right for a light meal.

“I had such a great experience at Hong Kong Express Chinese Restaurant! The food is absolutely packed with flavor — I tried the delicious orange chicken, the unique and spicy teriyaki chicken, and the tasty kung pao chicken. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The portions are incredibly generous for the price — they really fill up the to-go boxes, so you definitely get your money’s worth. “My favorite place to go whenever I'm craving hot pot nowadays! I'm not able to handle spice so I've only tried their Tomato broth, Chicken broth, and the extra mild version of the Beef Bone broth. But all 3 broths are delicious; the Tomato is sweet & tart without being too much of either, and both the Chicken and the Beef Bone are deeply flavorful without being either too watery & bland, nor too fatty & heavy. The selection of ingredients is nice as well, a good variety of tasty fish/meat balls, veggies, tofu's, and a surprisingly numerous offering of different proteins, including seafood, as well as various starches. Service has been pretty good thus far, every time I've been there, there were wait staff regularly coming by to check for water refills and napkins etc. I had to take a star off for Atmosphere though; there basically isn't any. But as long as the food stays as good as it is now, i could care less about the atmosphere to be honest.=P“

“The first time I went here I would give it 5 stars. I went between lunch and dinner so it was quiet and calm. The food and service was amazing. The fooooodddd yum yum yum. However in my later visits the food has not been so amazing. Still good but not super super delicious.
If you go when it's busy, it can be chaotic in there. But it's cuz it's a small place and it's popular.

“It funny, the name made us think it was like a yoshinoya. But it is not. Have been here several times since writing this. Wonderful sit down and dine spot for good Chinese food. Our go to is the orange chicken and mongolian beef. We also enjoy the hot and sour soup and their chicken fried rice. The staff is very attentive and kind. “The family was in the mood for some Korean Chinese food and the place closer to my house was closed so we found this place. With good reviews we decided to try it. For those that grew up with Korean Chinese food, this place is just like what you remember from back in the day. They didn't try to modernize anything and just kept it as is, just like it's supposed to be. Everything was good and it tasted fresh. I usually don't order Mongolian beef as most times, the meat is very chewy, but it wasn't here. It was tender and flavored very nicely. We also ordered the Noodles with Black Bean Sauce Noodle aka Jajangmyeon. I liked it but it wasn't great. My family on the other hand thought that it was great. The Sweet & Sour pork and the Fried Shrimp with hot garlic sauce were crunchy despite us ordering to go. Their portion size was also good. I find most places charge more AND reduce the portion size but here, although the prices did increase, the portion size is still good. That's a big plus in my book. Overall, I would come back here again and would recommend it to others.“

I was suggested to try their special for two for $25.99 which includes 2 fried and/or white rice, 2 entrees, soup and 2 egg rolls (I opted for no soup and 4 egg rolls). The order is made to order so it's not sitting under a heat lamp. Service was great and the cashier/cook was very nice. I had the garlic shrimp and kung pao chicken and the portions are very generous.
Inside is very spacious with plenty of seating.
Next time I'm craving some fresh Chinese food with nice portions at a great price I'll definitely be back since it's down the street from me.
