“This is an excellent new-style restaurant perfect for dates, as well as a high-end eatery with outstanding reviews. It boasts an elegant yet unpretentious atmosphere, making it suitable for dating, birthday celebrations, and business dinners alike— the vibe is incredibly comfortable. The restaurant specializes in American-French fusion cuisine crafted from fresh local ingredients, and has established itself as one of the benchmarks for SD Fine Dining, thanks to its consistently high-quality dishes and sophisticated ambiance. We decided to check it out this time because our AE credit card got a new credit limit this quarter, and this restaurant is on the list— we just had to come and experience it 🍴

Our first appetizer was raw oysters. They were small but extremely fresh, and when paired with a mix of two sauces, they were absolutely delicious! The flavor lingered on the palate, leaving a memorable impression that’s hard to forget. The lemon was wrapped in gauze, which was such a thoughtful detail! The second dish was the Lobster Ravioli appetizer— ravioli stuffed with lobster. It was our first time trying this, and the ravioli were surprisingly large and quite tasty! The third dish was Mixed Seafood, featuring three types of fish: Ahi tuna, Salmon, and Sea Bass, served with a trio of sauces. The fish was pan-fried to a crispy exterior and tender interior— a must-try for fish lovers! The fourth dish we ordered was roast duck, but it didn’t live up to the innovative roast duck we had at Juniper and Ivy before, so you might want to opt for something else. For example, their signature dishes include Herb-Roasted Lamb Chops (crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside), Pan-Seared Scallops (served with citrus butter sauce, sweet and sour to cut through richness), and Wild Mushroom Risotto (rich in mushroom flavor with chewy rice grains). Among the desserts, the Salted Caramel Pudding is a safe bet that never disappoints— definitely worth a try. The wine list also features a wide selection of high-quality wines from SD, offering great value when paired with the dishes 🍷

The restaurant’s waitstaff were extremely professional and attentive— they helped us take photos 📷, recommended dishes and wines, and ensured a smooth dining experience. Fresh bread was served before the meal, and refills were unlimited. They also checked in regularly to clear the table. If you’re dining to celebrate an anniversary or birthday, they even offer a complimentary cake 🍰 and custom pig-shaped cookies— the sense of ritual is truly on point!

The overall decor of the restaurant is fresh and innovative— it looks high-end yet unique. The walls are adorned with murals of pigs 🐖 and geese 🦢, along with matching decorations, which add a distinctive touch! Considering it’s a high-end restaurant, the value for money is excellent— the four dishes we ordered cost less than $100 per person. So if you’re looking to celebrate an anniversary or birthday, and you prioritize taste and a sense of ritual, this is the perfect choice! Don’t forget to wear a nice dress, enjoy delicious food, and take beautiful photos 🤩

“We love coming here. We always make reservations to ensure seating because this is a popular place. Yesterday was busier than normal. There was a large group there and our table was squished next to the bar and in the sun. Was a little noisy and crowded but food and service is always great. This is the first time we experienced the noise and crowd, but yesterday was a gorgeous day. This may not be the best place to host large groups because space is limited here.“

“The food is as good as it looks! I couldn’t believe it when my parents asked me if I wanted to go to a Revolutionary War tavern replica & museum near the beach in northern San Diego. Like, huh? But the building reminded me of growing up on the east coast, and the museum reminded me of how lucky we are to have this country & those who fought for it. I loved the cozy interior with brick and wood. My parents are regulars, so they know the server, and he was super nice. They have a great Old Fashioned, and we all got the Seafood Trio (mine with double cod). The fingerling potatoes were to die for. It was all delicious. Amazing Caesar salad, too. Definitely had leftovers. Excited to go back for their happy hour. Can’t wait to try wagyu sliders, mussels, and clam chowder. Seriously, it all sounds good. Definitely worth a trip! If you want a good meal, go to monarch for a pastrami sandwich and make sure to get a drink from Christina at the bar and Jack is a great server as well Xavier and Todd are phenomenal bartenders as well. “We waited 45 minutes past our reservation time. I understand that it was Valentine's Day and it's a small restaurant, but at that point time limits or asking those just hanging out to leave may be required especially since we had reserved over a month before. Staff was visibly strained too and spent more time and care only with guest that were familiar with staff. I feel like organization and cronysm/favoritism are legitimate concerns. Happy hour is also exactly an hour, 4-5.

Despite this, the food and drinks were beyond excellent. Notably better than many of the 100+ great restaurants we've tried in San Diego. Prices were slightly higher than similar restaurants, notably many cocktails approached $25. Ambiance was nice, decore as well.“

“Love the cottage! It's our Sunday after church lunch spot. Friendly and genuine caring service. When they see us pull with our 94 year old friend someone always comes out to help her and escort her inside. I can't say enough good things about this place!“

“Came in here to work for a couple of hours, it’s a lovely spacious,airy place with lots of natural lighting and high vaulted ceilings! It’s definitely a hidden gem cafe. The lunch was really good too, and the staff are really pleasant and efficient. Also, the Wifi is free and pretty good.
For food: we had the Latte, Breakfast Burrito, Bread Pudding and tomato soup.
Parking: There’s free street parking.
Lots of outlets for charging.
