New American Restaurants near Solana Beach, CA

“Upscale dining by Chef Jeffrey Strauss. We came for restaurant week ($70 + $45). The menu being offered is slightly different than the daily regular menu offering beef, pork, fish, duck and vegetarian.

We ordered:

Complimentary assorted bread basket came out first with mini corn muffins, baguette and a seeded bread that was my favorite.

Lobster ravioli (also on regular menu) - 1 giant lobster filled ravioli with small mushrooms and scallops in a ginger soy mushroom sauce

Skipped the second appetizer and Supplemented for the Angel hair pasta with shaved truffles for $45. You can add on as a third dish for $65. This was buttery rich goodness.

Korean marinated flat iron steak - sliced in 7 pieces over fried rice. Although rice was good, sadly, we compared it to Trader Joe tv dinner.

Pork schnitzel - I have to say, this was better than the ones I had in Germany and Austria because it was thinner, wasn’t dry and had flavor (meaning salt). The potatoes balanced out the salty flavors.

Warm chocolate caramel cake (also on regular menu) - served with berries and vanilla gelato. Found this to be same as other places.

Seasonal fig tart - puff pastry with mascarpone filling, honey and few slices of fig.

Restaurant week has gotten more pricy over the years with Pampalmousse on the higher end of $70, I expected more. I would have loved to see more of their regular menu items featured on the RW menu and more French inspired.

Overall, plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating. We had a wonderful experience. Food was well prepared. Truffle pasta was our favorite. Our drinks were strong. I got the Sippin’ on Lychee with gin, lychee liquor and simple syrup.“

“I work in this shopping center and needed a quick healthy snack to keep me going between treating my patients, and this cute smoothie spot was perfect. I got the keto smoothie with cacao and berries, and added extra pea protein. It was delicious (see photo), healthy, and the service was quick and friendly. I couldn’t decide between two smoothies and the gal behind the counter gave the best recommendation - Will definitely be coming back!“

“Solana Beach Kitchen was amazing. Each dish was spectacular. Loved the Surf & Turf Nachos, the Calamari was the best I have ever had. The Mac n Cheese with brisket was a recommendation from the fabulous Tracy and it was incredibly delicious. Everything was so good that we returned the next night!! Highly recommend SB Kitchen.“

“We've eaten at seasons 52 multiple times since they opened . Every time has been consistent with food, quality, service and menu options. We ate outside. Yesterday was a lovely day and our server Nick was knowledgeable, attentive, and personable. Our guest was 95 yrs old and they catered to his every need . I still think the quality of the food, the portion size, and overall experience is probably the best value in town. There's so many options on their menu and every one of them is thoughtfully prepared. We keep coming back time and time again. Fabulous restaurant. Healthy and friendly.“

“The food is as good as it looks! I couldn’t believe it when my parents asked me if I wanted to go to a Revolutionary War tavern replica & museum near the beach in northern San Diego. Like, huh? But the building reminded me of growing up on the east coast, and the museum reminded me of how lucky we are to have this country & those who fought for it. I loved the cozy interior with brick and wood. My parents are regulars, so they know the server, and he was super nice. They have a great Old Fashioned, and we all got the Seafood Trio (mine with double cod). The fingerling potatoes were to die for. It was all delicious. Amazing Caesar salad, too. Definitely had leftovers. Excited to go back for their happy hour. Can’t wait to try wagyu sliders, mussels, and clam chowder. Seriously, it all sounds good. Definitely worth a trip! And you’ll be back to try it all 😁“

“What a surprise! This is not your normal coffee shop located in an office building. It has indoor seating that can easily fit 50+ people. They have a beautiful outdoor patio that can fit another 40 people. I see a sign here at my table, that says you can even have an event here that they will host for you. In addition to Coffee and espresso, they serve beer and wine, as well as smoothies and organic juices. I had about three hours to kill between meetings and wanted to try something other than the usual coffee houses and this was a wonderful surprise. In summary, this is a great meet up location with lots of private, intimate seating areas and as I’m posting this, I’m watching one of the employees meticulously arrange flowers on the counter as an added little welcoming touch. Oh, I had their house coffee, and it was fabulous.

“Amazing food!!! We got a few things on the menu today. We got the firebird , cali dip , kids meal chicken nuggets . Let’s start with the firebird .. amazing sweet and spicy taste with big nice pickles to maintain the heat overall recommend this sandwich . The Cali Dip was delicious sweet and so much flavor I’d have to say one of the best “Tortas” I ever ate . The fries are the best !!! Sauces are so yummy. Everything was about $47 but SO WORTH IT!“

“This place is beautiful. A wonderful atmosphere and great decor, we had a great view with lunch! We had great drinks and our appetizer was basically a charcuterie board, which was good. A little mediocre for the price but it looked beautiful! I had the fish and chips which was melt in your mouth delicious and my fiance had the short rib pastrami sandwich and she said it was delicious. Overall a good view with good food!“

“It’s our annual place to be every August for the last 17 years: celebrating 50 years of marriage! The food, service and atmosphere right on the beach is heavenly. “Haven't been here in years! Met up with friends for dinner on a Saturday evening and there were lots of open tables on their patio. All the tables against the Japanese pond were reserved.

I ordered the Salmon and quinoa dish and it was pretty good. The portion was a good size. We also ordered the carne asada fries appetizer and I really liked that one too. We don't recommend the Pastrami plate though. It was fatty and falling apart. But the side salad substitution for fries was delicious.

Forgot our server's name but he was great. I couldn't decide on a couple of beers and he offered to give me samples before I ordered. He also took great care of us all evening.“

“The happy hour is 1000% worth it. The shredded beef slides were filled with a good portion of protein and you can't beat the drink prices. Everything was great except the server consistently trying to close us out. We were a group of four girls catching up and couldn't help but feel she was trying to get us in and out. I would definitely go again, but if service is the same, I wouldn't recommend it to people trying to enjoy a relaxing, social outing.“

“We enjoyed our lunch at Culinary Dropout. It's located in a very nice area which is easy to get to from the freeway. The wait staff was pretty friendly. It wasn't busy when we were there, which was nice. The restaurant has a lot of seating. It's relaxing and inviting.\n\nI don't recommend "yesterday's soup". It's way overpriced for what you get. The turkey pastrami sandwich is really good. My husband and I shared one sandwich and there was plenty for both of us.“

“We used Expedia to book and for some reason the site kept giving us an error and when it finally let us book, it had changed the date from the 15/16 to 25.. it was non refundable. The incredible staff at the Sheraton handled it, got us our room and we just got an email informing us that we would be getting a refund for the 25. My suggestion is to call the hotel and book your rooms through them. Beautiful property, room and beds super comfy for a reasonable price.. the staff are very nice and helpful. Pool was warm and the hot tub was excellent after long day of walking..“
