50 Best Wineries in Sonoma

Three Fat Guys Winery Winery •
20816 Broadway, Sonoma

“Our visit to Three Fat Guys Winery through Pushpak electric tricycle tours was absolutely lovely. The gal who guided our tasting was incredibly knowledgeable—not just about the wines themselves, but also about the vineyards, the microclimates, and the unique aspects of Sonoma that influence each vintage. It was fascinating to learn how the land and climate shape the flavors in the glass.

The experience felt intimate and personal. Tasting with someone who truly knew the wines—and clearly cared about their quality—made it feel special. We enjoyed charcuterie and snacks thoughtfully paired with the pours; the açai berry chocolates with a Pinot, in particular, brought out layers of flavor I’d never noticed before.

While the tasting itself is paid, there’s a great perk: if you purchase a higher-end bottle, you receive two tastings free. As if that weren’t enough, we had the lucky surprise of running into Tony Moll, one of the owners—like casually meeting a super chill celebrity neighbor.

Don’t miss this warm, welcoming gem of Sonoma wine country.“

The people behind the label are as complex and authentic as the wines. Oh and the tasting room vibe is worth a visit on its own (IYKYK). Do yourself a favor: make an appointment to taste through the wines with Tristan and be transported.“

Robledo Family Winery Wineries • $$
21901 Bonness Rd, Sonoma

“Another winery recommended we visit this winery in Sonoma because of it's story, culture, and quality. Six of us did and it did not dissappoint. Jimmy did a wonderful job of sharing the family history, as well as the history of the winery. He also recommended great wines for us to sample and consider for purchase. I'm glad we availed ourselves to learning about how our Mexican brothers worked the fields, learned the business and became and expert, purchased land, started his on winery, and served two U.S. Presidents (Obama and Bush) and the California Gov (Swarzenegger). Oh, the wine is GREAT!“

Peter Cellars Winery •
21708 Broadway, Sonoma

“If you like wine from Sonoma then I highly recommend Peter Cellars for a stop (yes, that's a play on the name for those that know!). Peter has won gold and double gold prizes for his wines (rightly so) and is happy to pour a decent sized glass and tell you about his winery.

There is no hard sell and we bought some to take home to the UK. The wine is truly excellent, it speaks for itself, and pricing reflects this in a good way.

The tasting is on a veranda surrounded by olive trees and vines and on our visit we met four very beautiful and friendly labradors. The winery is very do-able on a day trip from San Francisco.

We found Peter Cellars through Edge of the World Tours in San Francisco which I also highly recommend. Ask for Anthony.“

Bedrock Wine Co. - By Appointment Wineries • $$
414 1st St E, Sonoma

“We have been ordering wine from Bedrock many years. This was our first time to visit. The tasting room is just off the main square in Sonoma. It is located in the historic Joseph Hooker House. We were a few minutes late for our appointment but we were seated immediately. Our tasting started with Under The Wire sparkling wine followed by some the Cuvée Karatas which we liked. The plot twisted in the next two pours. In each of the final two rounds we were offered 3 wines to evaluate side by side. This was super fun. We also ordered the charcuterie board and it was delicious too. We had a wine order already pending so we just added more bottles to this order. We opted to take a bottle of 2009 Griffen's Lair syrah with us to drink at the hotel.“

Ram's Gate Winery Winery •
28700 Arnold Dr, Sonoma

“I am a bit delayed in posting this, but my partner and I delighted in the full tasting menu at Ram’s Gate. I’ve enjoyed many tastings throughout wine country and Ram’s Gate has one of the better, more elevated experiences at a reasonable price (if I may add)! I am not even a fan of carrots but the carrot risotto was one of my favorite courses. That should say a lot about the quality of food being delivered by culinary team here.

The property is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. We were greeted with bubbles while we waited for our reservation in the gorgeous courtyard. We even got some amazing local food recommendations from our server! I’d highly recommend and will definitely come back!“

Thirty-Seven Winery Winery •

“I’ve been a member of Cliff Lede and several Wilson wineries, all of which I love, but this has become my favorite. I think Shane is an excellent winemaker and the variety of wines is amazing. I drink mostly reds (love especially the Hermit blend and blaufrankisch as well as the cab franc) but the Albariño white is excellent as well. The virtual tastings in the past two years have also been great introductions to the wines. Highly recommend.“

“We stumbled upon this place by complete chance and we were met with surprise after surprise. Who knew about Kamen’s history ! Maybe people do but we certainly didn’t. It was really interesting to learn about his past - starting all the way back in india in kashmir and ending at where he did - a winning screenplay writer and certainly a winning Cabernet for us! This was the best Cabernet we had in the region. Not overpowering yet so complex. Mark herold is a magician with his winemaking and Kamen himself is a magician given everything he touches turns to gold! Great stop. Andi hosted us at the tasting room and was a great story teller! We would highly recommend“

Bartholomew Estate Winery Winery •
1000 Vineyard Ln, Sonoma

“Absolutely beautiful estate. We booked the last slot available and everyone was very gracious and welcoming. very professional waiters, definitely a more corporate feel. The tasting was a bit self guided but it was nice to be able to enjoy the wine and scenery by ourselves. Tastings were also very generous and wine was delicious! They don’t serve food or snacks but the crackers they provided were delicious. The best part was being able to explore the vineyard and the property as a whole. They even had a small, wine themed art gallery inside. We ended up purchasing a bottle of their Pinot Noir, I believe. We ended up not being able to check our luggage back home so we had to leave the bottle behind but will go back in a heartbeat next time we’re in California. 10/10 experience for a truly delicious tasting and a beautiful, large property where you can wonder the grounds without requiring a booked tour. Our host was very friendly and professional“
