“We were in the area late on Thursday night, so we decided to stop by Barney's Beanery at around 10:30pm. I've been to the location in Santa Monica many times, but I'd always wanted to check out the original historic location. You seat yourself at whatever table you can find, and it was pretty packed but we didn't have trouble finding a table. People were sitting and leaving tables constantly throughout the night so I don't imagine you would ever have to wait too long on a Thursday at least. The crowd is definitely on the younger side and I'm 36, but I felt like a senior citizen, older by everyone by at least 10 years lol. It's a packed, loud, rowdy type of place with music blasting...not really my thing anymore but it definitely reminded me of the places I would to go in my twenties. The food was just ok... and it seemed like we were the only ones that ordered anything more than an appetizer. We ordered the mozzarella sticks, nachos with chicken, and carne asada fajitas. The only thing I really liked were the mozzarella sticks, and if I ever do come back here at such a late hour, I would probably stick to items from the appetizers menu. Service was a little slow to get started, but once we started ordering food and drinks, the server would come by regularly to check up on us. The server was definitely overwhelmed with people constantly flagging her down, but she remained friendly and I never got any sass from her so job well done. They could definitely use some more help though. Like I said, not really my type of place anymore, but I can't say I didn't enjoy myself...especially once the drinks started flowing.“

Never had to wait long to get his attention for another round. The last time my gf and I went, we also had Laine and Bridget as a bartender cus I believe Kyle was on break, and they remembered our names, which we loved. They were also very attentive. “Love the atmosphere and the music. The food was good but there are some key points to take note of. The tortilla soup was distinctly lacking in salt to bring the flavors together and there were FAR too many carrots. It cam across very bland initially until I added a lot of salt. The Big Curious Salad was very tasty and the dressing light but flavorful. I added beef skewers to the salad and those skewers were AMAZING! Please note that the online photos show the big curious salad with avocado and clementine, that is not the correct photo as the big curious has neither of those ingredients. All in all an enjoyable meal.“

“MY FAVORITE LA BAR!!! My review is loooong overdue as I've been coming here for years. I've moved further South on Ventura but I still manage to come to what I feel is my home in bar form. I'm a woman who loves mixology and good bartending and most bars are extremely male centric. TLP is great for women and men. It wouldn't surprise me that many women love this bar. You will hear everyone mention "the feel" of the bar and it's because they seem to consistently hire AMAZING BAR AND WAIT STAFF. Kudos to management for keeping such excellent consistency. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME..I come to the bar I sit at the bar and get an INCREDIBLE convo from the bartenders. They always serve me the most fantastic drinks and make me feel like a FUGGIN QUEEN. I love them so much for this. They manage people well and that's hard to come by. Even if I've had a bad day they seem to always say the thing that lifts my spirits -- it's wild. Therapy in a bar almost. lol Keep up the good work guys! See you again soon.“

“This had all the makings of a great burger, but unfortunately it fell down on one of the most important pillars--execution! Specifically, the meat was not well prepared. I'm not sure if I came on an off day, but the quality was lacking; some bites were too dry; some bites were not seasoned well. It's like whatever beef mixture they were using reached the bottom of the barrel and was not fresh. Also, I ordered the patty rare, and it was served medium-well. Ordinarily, I wouldn't make a big fuss about this sort of thing, but they are clearly going for the "elevated" burger experience at a premium $17 price point, and at those levels they really need to deliver flawlessly, every time. I also felt that the burger was a bit on the small side. I could fit the entire sandwich in one hand. The rest of the composition was actually quite good. I tried their signature "Stout," which comes with blue cheese, Gruyère, bacon, grilled onions, tomatoes, and a horseradish sauce. Each element complements the others really well, without any one becoming overwhelming. Flavor wise, it's all there. I just wish the patty pulled its own weight! I also tried the loaded fries, which were delicious. Specifically, whatever cheese they use melts perfectly over fresh, hot, crispy fries, and had a consistency that was not too runny and not too thick. The Goldilocks of melted cheese! These were also pricey at $9 though, and the portion was also on the small side. Overall, I'm glad that I tried what is allegedly one of the "best burgers in LA," but I won't be running back.“

The food was surprisingly very delicious! We shared a Reuben and a Cuban sandwich. We were disappointed to see no French fries, so we splurged on a hot pretzel! OMG it was so huge we took half of it home with us. Service was interesting- it was one bartender taking care of 3-4 tables of guests while we were there (plus a few take out orders). He did refill our drinks and checked on us twice quickly as he was grabbing stuff for other tables. We are pretty low maintenance so we were fine with it! I've gotten just fries from this place about 4-5 times. There's a reason i've gotten it 4-5 times. They're crispy, always fresh and well seasoned. They also give you three sauces: spicy mayo, garlic aioli, and honey mustard. All are amazing and my favorite is mixing all the sauces and putting them on top of the fries. I've also orders the mozzarella sticks and the classic burger, no cheese, lettuce tomato and pickles. The mozzarella sticks are big and the cheese stretch is perfect. “Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening around 6pm and was able to get a table for 3 almost immediately. Street parking nearby wasn’t too hard to find, and the meters are free on Sundays. We shared the Bavarian pretzels to start, which come with queso dip and mustard spread. The pretzels were excellent - beautifully browned and crisp on the exterior, while wonderfully soft and chewy on the inside. The queso dip was alright - nothing too special - but the mustard spread was delightful. I got the Machismo burger with sweet potato waffle fries (free upgrade from regular fries at the time since they were out of regular fries). This was one of the better burgers I’ve had in quite some time. The beef patty was juicy and had a good thickness to it, and I loved the crispy texture added by the fried onions. The bite of the jalapeños, chewiness of the bacon, and meltiness of the cheese all worked together really well to round out all the textures and flavors. The “crunch” bun was really fascinating - I’d never had anything like it, and I thought it was the perfect vessel for the burger. I also really enjoyed the sweet potato waffle fries - light and crispy outside with a soft and tender interior. The house-made ketchup was delicious with them, much more tomato-forward than your standard ketchup. While the food is a bit on the pricey side, I think it was well worth it, and I’d definitely come again to try out some other dishes!Parking: Street parking is metered, free on Sundays“

“Always a great choice when you're in Studio City. A tavern feel indeed from the second you step in. Wood covers floor to ceiling all washed in a warm light. The seats at the bar are usually taken up, but it's because it just has a feel good, neighborhood hang vibe. Menus are all over the walls, listing food, a decently sized beer list, and some wine/cocktails. It might take a minute to get your order in; it's "order at the bar only", so be patient with the bartenders as they juggle their multiple job assignments. We always seem to order from the small plates menu, just so we get a little bit of everything. Fried chicken sliders, chorizo sliders, Brussels sprouts, and pork belly skewers are our regular go-to's. Grab a table inside or post up outside on the "patio"; the empty lot next to the building has been converted to an open air hang, complete with picnic tables, heaters if it's cold, lots of hanging greenery, and even an Air Stream trailer (where you can order drinks depending on the season). Find street parking or valet for $10.“

“Loved the delicious cheeseburger, hot crispy sandwich, and calamari. Can't go wrong with these! The service was so so. It took 2 servers to make us happy if that tells you something... refilling water and getting side items in a timely matter.“

“Honestly this is the best time in town to relax, have a drink and a bite to eat. Everything about this place is class. They make great strong drinks and the food is better than you would expect. Not to mention their happy hour is definitely the best in the area and available from 3-6 m-f. I love their Smash burger and brisket tacos. Their wings and pies are good too. Brian is the best I’m sure you will meet him if you frequent this place like I do. He always makes you feel comfortable and is very friendly and genuine.Great for watching sports even though the vibe isn’t a sports bar. It’s a classy establishment.“

“Wanted to come on here and show some love for an awesome night. I love a place that is exactly what it’s meant to be. To me, Tam offers a historical story, great food, and casual high end service. Amaya was personable and the rest of our wait staff were attentive but not overly so. They allowed my friends and I to enjoy our meal from start to finish. Prince Charles was juicy with good flavor. The spinach was seasoned and not too creamy. You must get the brisket on with the gravy fries. The drink selection was top tier with a good selection of beers, spirits, and creations. Honestly everything I’d want a Scottish establishment to be.“

“TBH I love this burger, always have always will. However, this is the first and last time I’ll ever order it for delivery!! If I hadn’t already had it in person a thousand times I’d have been very unimpressed by the execution. The food was still warm when it arrived, but the bottom bun was completely soaked through to the point of disintegration. Maybe this wouldn’t bother anyone, but it ruined the functionality of eating it as a burger. The shoe string fries (which I always LOVE in person) were also pretty solidified and chewy by the time they arrived. Love love love this place, I recommend it to all of my friends visiting LA, but definitely skip getting this place (or at least the burger and fries) delivered. Trust me!! You’ll thank me when you make the drive to eat there in person :)“

“I was a tourist in LA with no phone or car and I stumbled into this place because it was in walking distance of my hotel. What an unbelievably lucky chance for me. The food here is delicious, and the drinks are awesome, but the people are truly what made me come back over the duration of my trip. Hiro and Nara (I hope I didn't butcher the names) and the ska-fan whose name I did not get - you're all superstars. This is 100% a place to visit if you're looking to have an absolutely awesome time.“

“Excellent beer selection!!We were looking for a place to have a late dinner after watching our UW Huskies trounce the Trojans at LA Memorial Coliseum (great stadium, BTW!).Found We're Pouring on Yelp. Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of service, delicious food, and tasty beer!! We each ordered burgers and fries. The fries weren't very special but the burgers were wonderful! Perfect bun to meat ratio with a tender bun and fresh meat.We each had the Fremont Dark Star on Nitro. There were several other dark beers on tap we wanted to try, but we had an early flight the next morning!!Will return when on the area!!“

The kimchi pancake was the highlight. The vibe and decor were spot on – cozy and cool. Would go back in a heartbeat!Vegetarian options: Most of the menu isn’t vegetarian friendly, but there are still a few vegetarian options that are super delicious. “Came here for some drinks. It was my first time trying this spot. They play loud music, have pool tables and air hockey games. Alot of TVs around so it's a great place to watch games. I liked the nostalgic decor in the bathrooms and old magazine style cut outs laminated on the bar tables. Great energy and the people are really nice too. They make a really good espresso martini. We shared the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.Parking: They have metered parking and paid parking garage“

“We didn't order any food, so this review is for drinks service, and vibes. On our way from the Petersen Automotive to Pijja Palace, we had some time to kill and so found Jay's Bar on Yelp. The four of us arrived a little after 4:00 on a Thursday, found street parking (rather than the tiny lot), and pulled up to find two other patrons and who we think is the owner doing some business on her computer at a table. Erich was very friendly but not imposing. The happy hour deal of Kirin and gyoza sounded good, but we were on the way to dinner and decided not to. My brother ordered the Big Bad Baptist (on draft!!! I haven't seen it in forever!), my sister-in-law enjoyed her Brooks Dry Cider, Jim G. had a Space Dust on draft and I enjoyed the Yuzu You cocktail, which was a nice mix of shishito-infused gin, yuzu liqueur, lime, and cracked pepper (there's also a bit of simple, which I asked Erich to omit). There was some nice music playing and a rousing tennis match on one tv (at least according to Erich and the two other patrons) and on the other, the end of a Godzilla movie and then an episode of The Sopranos. I imagine at night when this place is packed, the vibe is a bit different, but it was great for our purposes. We are way far away in the northwest SFV, so this isn't a place we'll drive all the way here for, but if we're in the area, we'd definitely stop in again.“
