“I doubt seriously if you'll find a better selection of home made middle Eastern foods anywhere - This place even outdoes NYC. Fresh, tasty, generous servings, reasonable prices. Take out or order and eat in the large dining area exquisitely decorated. This is a hidden gem in Monroe. Say hello to Lola - the owner and proud chef. By the way, it's worth a visit just to see the Egyptian Decor and statuary.”

“I dined here with a group of six a couple of weeks ago and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The portions were very generous, our waiter was attentive, kind and pleasant. The music, atmosphere and ambiance were lovely and the food and desserts were incredible. I ordered food to go last night and met the owner, he was such a wonderful man and very appreciative of his customers. Once again everything was perfect and delicious. I can’t wait to go back soon. I highly recommend that you check out Flames soon.”

“Had a party of ten tonight for my brothers birthday. Many of us in the area have not been here before and it was an absolutely awesome time. Food, atmosphere and service was wonderful. Zach was with our table and he was so accommodating, with top customer service communication. Couldn’t recommend it higher. A must if and when in the area. We will be back. Thanks Zach and chef ! * footnote. The prime rib special was a 10/10. Haven’t had anything like it in years.”

“Testo's is hands down the best restaurant in town, if not all of fairfield county. Their food and portions are phenomenal, and never disappoint. My friends and I frequently visit and almost always order off the specials menu, which has something for everyone. My last dish was Lobster Ravioli Lillian. “Sal's Family Pizza is one of the best (if not the best) pizza locations in Connecticut. Authentic Italian slices with a crisp crust and tangy marinara. I have had the pleasure of ordering several dishes including soups, salads and pies and I have never had a bad meal. The ingredients are always fresh and tastey. Service is always friendly and helpful. Do not skip this place the next time you are in town!”

“I eat a lot of authentic Mexican food. This place is definitely very good. Haven’t had anything from here I didn’t enjoy. I order at least 3 times a week since I live up the road. My favorite being the Enchilada Cemita. I recommend El Gallo Dorado to everyone.”

“We had my daughter’s bridal shower at Monroe Social back in June. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Constantin did an amazing job helping me with the planning details. Dave was absolutely amazing the day of the brunch…from set-up until the end! He handled all of our requests, with a big smile on his face to boot! The brunch was delicious. What a great venue for any celebration! Thank you!”

“AMAZING! A.S is amazing. Their staff is so patient and helpful. The quality of the food and cleanliness of the location is near perfect. We usually travel to Norwalk, but thankful they opened a location near Shelton/Monroe. We went before Christmas Eve and it made our holiday feel “normal”.”

“My friend and I stopped in for lunch on a whim since our first two places didn’t work out. We enjoyed what we got I got a well done bacon egg and cheese and my friend had the Gorgonzola salad. My friend was a huge fan of the salad and even made sure to tell the manager. I would go again to try something else and I know my friend will be back for the salad!”

“Today my wife and I stopped into Jennie's Pizzeria for some late lunch. We entered the bar area. There were no seats at the bar because they were all taken by what appeared to be regulars, they all knew one another. Several others were standing, blocking the way to small tables across from the bar. As we tried to walk to one of these tables we were blocked by the senior citizen regulars who did not move. They would not move for my wife and only did after I spoke up and said very loudly "excuse me". They were not happy and copped an attitude but moved slightly so we could get through. It was very unwelcoming and profoundly cliquey. Sad they have to have a clique at their age. We sat down and it took forever for the one barmaid to come over. She was constantly being called by one of the regulars at the bar to get them more drinks. We ordered and the food took a while to arrive. It was good so no complaints there. The problem with this place is the clientele during happy hour. They are Senior citizens who are rude, cliquey, unfriendly to other patrons and frankly a sad bunch if all they have to do is hang out in a bar everyday to drink. Later a young waitress, who was cute came out and was met with comments from one of the older regulars at the bar. She had to walk around several patrons who did not move to let her pass with food. These people acted like they owned the place and were not happy outsiders invaded their little drinking party. As a result of all this we will never go there to eat again. There are plenty of other places which serve the exact menu close by.”

“West of town locale on state route 25 (main street), the main north south route through the upper Stepney section of town. Inside is spacious and good to sit down and eat as a lot of Chinese restaurants are not, restroom also available. This is a neighborhood staple for Chinese food. They also deliver if you want it delivered.”

“Wow, this is the best Chinese food I have found in the area. Food was hot and fresh and they use quality ingredients. The shrimp stir fried with vegetables in kung pao sauce were really fresh and perfectly cooked and the vegetables were still crispy. The crunchy water chestnuts were a nice touch. They don't use heavy gloopy sauces. The hot and sour soup was also a pleasant surprise. It was perfectly balanced with vinegar and some heat from chilis and had lots of fresh mushrooms and shredded bamboo shoots. Most of their business seems to be take-out. Don't be dissuaded by the appearances from the outside. We tried four different dishes and they were all hits. I will definitely be back!”

“This restaurant should be on every block in every city. The perfect place for lunch with fantastic prices and great portions. I highly recommend you get the special where you can order a half panini and small soup. You will be full to the brim and get to experience as much of the menu as possible. I'd eat my way through the full menu if I lived closer. Loved this place.”
