“We had a fantastic evening at Hiyakawa—warm hospitality, generous portions, and an omakase that reminded us why this place is so special. Chef Royce’s talent really shines in the precision and balance of each course.

The shrimp nigiri was the standout for us—cooked to perfection—closely followed by the otoro with caviar, which was a wonderfully generous touch and beautifully balanced. My friend loved the monkfish liver, and I was especially impressed by the baby eel nigiri.

Chef Jaimie’s dishes were also memorable—especially the steamed tofu, which was incredibly silky and tasty, with a delicate, well-balanced flavor. The perfectly fried shrimp head was a treat, and the refreshing dessert ended the meal on a light, clean note.

Overall, an excellent experience and one we’re still savoring—highly recommended.“

“What a great experience! Right in South Miami! Our waitress, Karen, was amazing! Very attentive and extremely helpful with the menu and drinks. She recommended the Omakase Signature to share. It comes with a variety of sushi. Compliments to the chef, it was exactly what we wanted and needed. 100% recommend coming down and seeing Karen and enjoying the delicious food and atmosphere!“

“I felt very othered here when I came to celebrate a milestone. I don’t want to make it racial, but as the only person to lower their voice as the only black person in the restaurant, it felt very jarring to see everyone else speaking at a louder volume than I was and any it wasn’t a problem. Delicious food but shitty vibes. Especially for what I was paying. Won’t be back. If black I guess beware.“

That being said, the drink service provided by the restaurant staff was vastly lacking. “The chefs special sashimi was so fresh. Texture was very delicate and melted in the mouth. The toro hand roll was filled with delicious fatty tuna and had the right amount of bite. Loved seeing the two talented sushi masters upfront working their craft, precisely cutting the fish, into vibrant work of arts.

Service was wonderful too would come again! The handroll was so good I ordered an additional toro and salmon roll.“

“We went to Elyu last night (on recommendation of one of the moms on my son’s baseball team) and did the sake pairing. What a great experience - from the ambience (classic omikase bar with modern feel and authentic wall decorations) to the service (from the manager to the conversation with the chefs to the sake sommelier) to the FOOD (every piece was an explosion of flavor, and each piece looked like a work of art - in contrast to other omikases where flavors are more subtle and presentation more plain vanilla - this was because of the chef’s dual Japanese and Filipino heritage, which he shows as fusion in his omikase). I can honestly say i had flavor profiles i never experienced before, the menu was so creative. The chefs were accommodating to my dietary requests, and when we arrived there were personalized menus with each of our names on them - very nice touch.

“Stunning restaurant in Brickell Restaurant. My husband and I love good food and the sexy fish did not disappoint. A little too crowded for my liking but that’s just a preference thing. The atmosphere was very upbeat and presentation of each meal was perfect. 10/10 recommend. If you’re looking for a luxurious Asian experience then this is it!
