“I had heard about this hot restaurant from New York that I must try, but was reticent to do so because Carbone was the name of a character from Goodfellas that Robert Deniro's Jimmy Conway whacked when tying up loose ends after the Lufthansa job! Poor sap was hanging frozen in a meat locker. I'm glad I put that imagery aside because this place was amazing! Platitudes like wonderful ambience, fine service, flavorful food, great family style dining, are all applicable but just don't capture the full spirit of the evening. From the pickled cauliflower, to the signature spicy rigatoni ala vodka (which pairs nicely with their pinot noir offering Presqu'ile), to the Caesar salad (you must have those croutons!), and their delicious Italian petit-fours, everything burst with flavor and was resplendent of the authenticity of old Venice. And since you will be spending more than a few pennies here, one must luxuriate in the mid century environs replete with Murano glass chandeliers while being serenaded with a sound track of Italian crooners like Mel Torme and Frank Sinatra in the full bela canta tradition. If you have a special occasion, Carbones Miami Beach will make for a memorable evening.”

“Faux-makase! (Fake omakase) is exactly what it is. Self proclaimed “non traditional omakase.” Also know as slow-makase. Nossa deserves a noose-a. I was recommended this restaurant by my hotel concierge. Had a horrible experience here. Should have known since they require pre-payment online via tock which actually codes as professional services and not a restaurant so they avoid the credit card fees. By the way, they will ask you to pay a ridiculous and mandatory 20% service charge plus tax after your “meal.” After payment, you will receive an email which says “The day of your reservation you will receive an email with instructions to access to the speakeasy bar.” However, I never received any email. I put nossa into google and it took me to the filthy, run down Hyatt centric hotel. I went inside and asked where the restaurant was and they took me through a stinky alley next to the hotel trash room said to knock the door. This made me extremely uncomfortable and almost decided to just leave. Little did I know the horror I was about to experience. I knocked the door and a lady asked for the password so I gave my last name on the reservation. She didn’t open and kept asking for a password. I demanded she open the door and gave my last name on the reservation. She said I should have received instructions on a paper from another restaurant on the other side of the street which I was not informed of. She said I was late and that they already started so she showed me to my seat. The room felt like a sewer with too many people crammed around a dirty scratched up bar. I was in group 11 which means there were at least 20 guests there. The music was horrendous and unbearable. The ambiance was very creepy. The staff smelled really bad. I was offered a welcome drink which I opted for a sparking water which was not sparking at all as it was flat without bubbles so they brought me a bottle instead. They didn’t ask about any allergies and handed me the first course which I had to spit out because it contained alcohol which I don’t drink. The chef kept inaudibly shouting out the descriptions of the dishes for each course towards different corners of the room in an attempt for everyone to hear but you only hear and understand the words which were said in your direction. All the ingredients were old and not fresh. The food did not taste good. The portions were tiny so don’t think you’ll be full when you leave here by any means. The place is extremely unsanitary. The chef even wipes your plates using the same towel as the previous groups one after another. I was absolutely disgusted. Finally the last course came and again I was served alcohol without being told what it was. Luckily the chef caught it before I could drink it and replaced it with iced tea. I asked if we’re were finished and she said yes. The experience was a complete waste of time so we were happy to walk out and leave. The lady chased us on our way out and said there was an additional payment to be made for gratuity and tax. I asked if this was mandatory and she answered yes. Mind you this was never communicated before. She also said she didn’t have a wireless credit card machine so I gave her my physical card to go swipe and come back. The chef came out, handed me my receipt and credit card then asked: “Is there a reason why you’re unhappy.” I answered: Yes, I didn’t enjoy the experience. He shrugged his shoulders and replied: “I’m sorry but unfortunately not everybody does, I guess” I was shocked and just stormed out. Exit left next to the trash room, literally.”

“Absolutely loved this spot! It’s got such a low-key, non-pretentious vibe—a refreshing break from the usual MB scene. The staff was super friendly, and the cocktail menu was top. Recommend the - “That Watermelon Drink” and the “PB&J Old Fashioned”—both were incredible! We didn’t order food, but the menu looked really good. The space is cozy and perfect for groups or a date night, and the music was on point with a great variety all night long. Overall, such a fun experience—definitely a place I’d come back to!”

“Was a very busy location on a Sunday (24-02-18) at brunch time, had a bit of a wait. Once seated we ordered cinnamon roll crepes and the seniors French toast with a side of shredded hashbrowns. Our waitress Elena came back and said they didn’t have any crepes or French toast. Asked for what I’d like instead, so I ordered a strawberry biscuit, and she told Mike she could see if they could do his French toast on regular bread. Took quite a while but eventually got our meals. Food was good and the waitress was great despite the problems that were beyond her control. We will go back again!”

“Disappointing Experience at a Once-Elegant Venue” I used to come here often for private events and lunches — my last visit was about 10 years ago, when the place still felt worthy of the Versace name: unique, elegant, stylish. Sadly, my recent visit ruined all those good memories. Despite sending out emails about the expected dress code, almost no one seems to care. Some guests were literally jumping into the pool in their street clothes, then sitting back down at their table soaking wet — as if that's normal in a supposedly high-standard restaurant. It's simply unworthy of a major fashion icon's name. The only redeeming part was the staff: they were extremely kind and attentive, and it was clear how much they appreciated finally having guests who were properly dressed. I honestly felt sorry for them, having to witness this circus on a daily basis. The food itself was delicious, and the lunch menu is good value for money — but unfortunately, that's not enough anymore. It's sad to see how a once-exclusive place can fall so low.”

“This has been one of the best Miami Spice menus around town. Everything was delicious from our two appetizers to the perfectly cooked steak and delicious rice. Our server Chris was also excellent. I highly recommend it you will not be disappointed. The value is excellent. The only complaint I have is that they charge you $3 p/p for tap water. Never experienced that before since water is regularly free. But other than that it’s a fantastic restaurant”

“We had the absolute best experience here. We stopped in after departing our cruise, and were greeted with good vibes, good food and great drinks. Between Pamela and Camila we were well taken care of, not to mention they have one of the best hookahs I’ve had. I will be back and I’m telling you don’t miss out on this gem!”

“First time here - we actually ate in the new location in Aventura and IT IS AWESOME! Perfectly prepared pasta - one in a simple light sauce and the other clams (our daughter almost licked the plate clean!), and all followed with wonderful Tiramisu. The entire experience was even better when we interacted with the super warm and friendly Hostess, Manager (Anstasia?), waiter Roberto along with his associates! Well-done Gaby - we'll be back regularly with friends and family.”
