“Some of our food was good, some not so good. The mixed appetizer was not fresh - it appeared to have numerous reheated items. I'll skip that next time. The lamb dish was very greasy and the meat fatty. The flavor was good. Butter chicken flavor was good. The service was very slow and inattentive despite only a few people dining. Overall underwhelmed. Has been better in the past.“

I found this GEM and decided to give it a try, as none of us have ever heard of it. My friends in Tallahassee, that have gatekept this place from us, shame on you. “drove to Tallahassee from Valdosta, GA, for a shopping trip, and a good friend recommended El Rey Tacos & Beer. I’m so glad I stopped by! This place instantly transported me back to Mexico. I had the best torta I’ve ever tasted, the bread was perfectly fresh and soft, and every bite was bursting with flavor. It’s hard to find something this authentic back home in Valdosta. I also tried their aguas frescas, and they were incredibly refreshing and flavorful. My 10-year-old daughter ordered tacos and surprised me by eating four! She said they were the best tacos she’s ever had.This place is absolutely worth the drive. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for anyone craving true Mexican flavors!“

Don't judge this place by the outside. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was fantastic, the portions were generous, and the prices were hard to beat.

We were just passing through Tallahassee on our way back to Tampa, but this meal was memorable enough that we'll definitely be stopping here again on future trips.

“I happened to be staying in Tallahassee for the week for training. I have lived in South Korea twice for a year each time and I miss the food the most. I stopped in to order the Chicken Bulgogi and asked if they could make it spicy. The staff was extremely kind and suggested I take some pepper powder just in case because they didn't want to make it too spicy. This was an excellent suggestion as it let me control how much more I wanted to add. The food was excellent and immediately took me back. If you are looking for an authentic experience with a courteous staff definitely give this place a shot. I will be coming back the next time I am in town.“

“The Blue Tavern is a true gem in the Tallahassee Community. Carrie (owner) and Heather (bartender) are welcoming, caring, inclusive. This place has the best music in town on a consistent basis. Carrie works hard to support the community; it is like home. The "regulars" are genuine folx and the musicians and performers are great, too. Please support and enjoy! Food is great, too. It is probably not canned but I hate that weird taste of canned chicken so I’m gonna notice any chicken with a flavor like that. Go. Give the place a try. Our favorite part of our road trips, is finding places to eat we can’t find at home. And pizza is my husband’s fave. I don’t normally gravitate to pizza, but this menu had my attention! We ordered the Honey Pig and and pepperoni with marinated portabella mushrooms. These were, simply put, the best pizzas we have had to date on a road trip! Hands down! If I could come back through on the way home and order two more to take home, I would! Awesome job, KEEP GOING!!!!! And whoever is reading reviews , trying to decide, JUST ORDER IT!
