“What a great burger!! We were so lucky to find them, they’re in almost hidden spot. The order their arugula burger, but I added mushroom to it, it was unreal.
The amount of meat that you get is so good. She was even mindful of my pregnancy, and though I forgot to tell her go for fully cooked she came out and asked me how I would like the Patty to be cooked.“

“I was visiting Honolulu from Wisconsin, and this food truck ended up being one of the best surprises of the whole trip. I’ll be honest the walk to it looks a little sketchy at first since you head down this small alley, but don’t let that fool you. Once you get back there, it’s a whole different story. The customer service was awesome super friendly, super welcoming. And the food? Straight-up 10/10. The loaded barbecue fries were insane, packed with flavor and totally worth every bite. “South Shore Grill has been part of my routine for close to 20 years. It’s a family‑run business with a lot of heart, and I’ve watched the owners’ kids grow up working behind the counter. The food is consistently good, the prices are fair, and there’s a great variety to choose from. It’s an easy stop before the beach or park, or the perfect place to refuel after a day in the surf. My go‑to is always the fish burrito. The cajun seasoning and macnut pesto are always on point. Truly one of those local spots that feels like part of the community.“

“This was my first visit to The Daley in years ... I love their burgers, and most time their fries, but my last order was left wanting.

I'm pleased to report that this latest order contained a perfectly prepared burger and a bag of crispy fries (as ordered).

The remaining nitpicks were: 1) having to wait an additional 10 minutes past the time the order was supposed to be ready, 2) paying $6 for a bag of fries. Increase the price of the burger by $1 and reduce the price of the fries. Yes, the total would be the same but the value would be where it belongs. In any case, $10 is money well spent for a great burger.“

“I love this place! They serve burgers until 3pm and I wish they’d go all night! Easily the best burger on island. Soft, warm brioche buns and flavorful patties and sauces. Always hot 👍🏼 and yummy. My boyfriend says it’s one of the best burgers he’s ever had in his life and I agree. I enjoy both takeout and dine in :)“

“Great place for old school drive-in style burgers. Surprisingly good deserts. No real dining area, just a small area to stand and eat if you want to. The patties have a secret seasoning that makes them tasty. Always stop by when I am on this side.“

“Delicious! The locations in CA are slowly closing and we never even considered looking on Oahu but it popped up when we searched for a burger place and drove straight here. The food is great. We love the parm fries and chili fries (without onion). We also love that you can completely build your own burger. It's so customizable and perfectly for us. Highly recommend The Counter. “Been here for breakfast couple times... was actually good... so good I went back... today I went back for lunch. I ordered 2 plates, short ribs and garlic shrimp. I am a pretty good cook and like that when people prepare food good as well. The place a hole in the wall... no frills the service!!! Real good... the food. Hmmm. Let me tell you the plates were off the hook!! The short ribs great taste flavor soo good cook just the way I like it... Garlic Shrimp... o rank it up there as one of the best I ever ate. “We ate here twice. The second time with a group of 12. They have limited seating and request that people order first and wait to be seated. People obviously cannot read. The staff did a great job seating us despite the complications and were effective getting our food to us.

Our group tried swordfish, fish and chips, several shrimps, catch of the day and steaks and all the food was very good.“

“Used to be a pool hall bar back in the day called Amy's Place. What an interior transformation! Cool to have a vintage tavern in the throngs of Honolulu! We went for Sunday Brunch...the menu is extensive. We are picky eaters. It is rare we had so many items we liked on the menu. We had the lamb sandwich and the crab cake benedict. Both were delicious. So were the roasted potatoes and French fries! We love to eat and have tried nearly every restaurant in the Chinatown/downtown neighborhood. There are few we return to. We will be back and soon. Last but certainly not least the service was wonderful. Sophia has a lovely demeanor and met all our needs.“

“Bikini burger was a perfect fit after a long day of vacation. Fresh, hot juicy burger that comes with seasoned fries. We also got the salad and loved the toppings (pickle, tomato, dressing). Simple but delicious. The uniquely fried Oreos were a fun dessert. My son loved them.“

“Originally recommended to me by my former boss, Island Sub is a classic, no-nonsense spot. I have to confess: in my opinion, they have the absolute best onion rings in Hawaii. They don't make them from scratch—they are pre-cooked, frozen, and shipped—but whatever they do in the kitchen to fry them makes them unbeatable. Hands down, the best.

While I've tried a few different items over the years, my absolute go-to is the Meatball Sub. I usually order the half size, but this time I treated myself to the full. It’s a beautifully simple combination of tomato sauce, melted cheese, and meatballs, and I’ve never had a single complaint about it.

It’s a wonderful family-owned business where the husband holds down the kitchen and the wife manages the front of the house. They’ve been running it this way since well before COVID. The restaurant itself hasn't changed at all in the ten years I've been visiting, even though the surrounding strip mall has undergone some modern renovations. The interior does look a little run-down and dated, but that's alright—I usually take my food back to the office rather than dining in anyway.

“The food was so good! Ok, there's no indoor dining and the outdoor dining is really rough but during our meal there the locals seemed to love it and for good reason. This is what I imagine authentic Hawaiian BBQ for the working man is like. When you go to a BBQ place and see the orange construction either shirts, is probably going to be good and it was. The girl at the register recommend the beef short ribs and they were amazing. My wife had the teriyaki chicken and it had amazing flavor, though a bit overcooked, I still finished it if for her gladly. My only warning: one dish is plenty for two hungry people! We were getting ready to head to the airport and didn't want any to go to waste, so we have half to a mother with four teenage boys. They were 😊. Definitely will return next time we visit the island.“

“I stopped by Teddy’s Bigger Burgers recently because I was craving something easy but substantial. We can almost always find what we are looking for including gifts from local artists and made quite a few friends with some of the vendors. There is something for everyone. Their small kitchen limits the menu choices, but what they offer is tasty and reasonably priced. The pleasant customer-oriented staff has made it serve as a home away from home for us, and we have always felt welcomed. If/when they leave, they will be sorely missed.“
