“Ive been to 3 Omakases one of which was in Japan.

All were really really great but Kyoten Next Door was phenomenal. I not only left full (rarity for me 🫄🏻) but each course was unexplainably good and chef Jorge was funny, kind, and knowledgeable!

Definitely worth the money for the service and food you get. Finding the location was iffy at first because there’s no signs or anything and it looks like it’s abandoned but once you get in it’s super super nice and cozy.

“We were indifferent to Mora when it first opened several years ago. The food was ok but not great. We went back for the first time in years a few weeks ago and were absolutely delighted by everything. We returned on Sunday afternoon and continue to be bowled over inspite of the noisy laughter coming from a couple of women in a corner booth.“

“We did the omakase experience. Overall quite good, the fish was very good and high quality. The wasabi level on the pieces was inconsistent, mostly very pleasant but at times overpowering. We weren't a fan of the uni/roe course but that is of course personal preference (however as a big fan of uni i was slightly disappointed). Overall very good and attentive service. The tuna pieces were OUTSTANDING.“

“Best Sushi Restaurant on the planet. Not only was all the food superior than any other Sushi restaurant I've been to. My family and I had a feast.(I mean all the food was good). Very reasonable prices as well. The most astonishing fact about this restaurant was the host (Quam) his amazing knowledge of food and customer service was unlike any other. The Ice cream desert was mind blowing. You don't have to take my word for it, but I guarantee you, you won't find another Sushi restaurant in the city of Chicago as good this one. The ambiance of this establishment is very warm and pleasant. I highly recommend this place for family gatherings, and with people you want to share a special food feast with. I really wanted to have Japanese food (specifically Onigiri) for a Studio Ghibli-themed baby shower, and reached out to several local restaurants. Ekiben was by far the most responsive and fairly priced!

However there was no uncommon fish or anything extraordinary to make this place special, justifying the high price. “I dined at Neko Sushi and tried their tuna and avocado fried rolls, and they are the reason I’ve already been back three times in the past two weeks since finding this neighborhood gem. My fiancé ordered the shrimp in a blanket and they were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. I had the ramen both times and it was absolutely delicious. My fiancé tried the pad thai with shrimp on one visit and the basil shrimp fried rice on another, and both dishes were full of flavor and so satisfying. Neko Sushi has quickly become one of our favorites. Everything we’ve tried has been consistently fresh and tasty. Oh and they are BYOB!“

The crab Rangoon is on a whole different level—super crispy on the outside, perfectly creamy and flavorful on the inside, and you can actually taste the crab, not just cream cheese. It’s the kind of appetizer you think you’ll share, then end up keeping for yourself. Everything came out hot, fresh, and fast, and the staff was really friendly and attentive. The preparation is mostly traditional, it’s generally fresh and tasty (though there have been nights where something is off). The cooler almost always has some grab and go options; otherwise, order ahead to make the wait more predictable.“
