“Went here for a date night and it was excellent. The quality and quantity of food was appropriate for the price point and the food was excellent. Another highlight was the sake. They had a great selection that paired with the food and the server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall if you want a laid back omakase with quality food, go here“

“Made to order sushi place that offers a range of options: nigiri, sashimi, rolls, and fried seafood etc.
Price is very reasonable. You can find a menu on their website. The store also sells Japanese snacks, sauces, and spices. Only a few small tables food court style so plan to get take out if you prefer table service or have group of 4+.
Recommend ordering on the phone in advance; at peak hours there is a wait time of about 40 minutes.
They do catering and large orders. Seems like a great option for ordering food for a party.“

“I had an amazing experience at Wave Sushi & Sake! The Dragon roll is hands down my favorite – the flavors are perfectly balanced, and the presentation is beautiful. I also tried their Lychee mocktail, and it was the perfect refreshing treat to pair with the sushi. The atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu. Highly recommend!“

“I’ve been here twice for lunch and dinner. Both times the fish was perfect. Nigiri and Sashimi that is top of its class (fresh, large portions, perfectly prepared). This is one of the best sushi spots in Chicago and the prices are more reasonable than everywhere else (local or in the city). The Nigiri/Sashimi lunch is only $16 and very large. I had 12 different cuts of fish for dinner. I will definitely be back. Great food, great service, well done! Highly recommended.“

“Best Sushi Restaurant on the planet. Not only was all the food superior than any other Sushi restaurant I've been to. My family and I had a feast.(I mean all the food was good). Very reasonable prices as well. The most astonishing fact about this restaurant was the host (Quam) his amazing knowledge of food and customer service was unlike any other. The Ice cream desert was mind blowing. You don't have to take my word for it, but I guarantee you, you won't find another Sushi restaurant in the city of Chicago as good this one. The ambiance of this establishment is very warm and pleasant. I highly recommend this place for family gatherings, and with people you want to share a special food feast with. It's pure laughter and joy. Thank you Quam for your kind recommendations on food selections. My family and I had the time of our lives, as if we were on vacation. Thank you! "Fresh Shushi Chicago" is a gift to eating out.“

“Great place. The Onigiri and takoyaki were great to start with and then all the rolls were the perfect thing to split for the table. Our consensus was our favorite was the black ranger with orange and red close behind. We also tried the pink and green and while they weren't top 3 for us, still delicious and we finished them all. Great spot and BYOB was fantastic too.“

“Really happy they expanded as it's easier to get a reservation/table. It can get a bit loud when full, but the food is awesome so well worth it. Stuffed salmon is a must order, but you can't really go wrong with everything on the menu.
My only minus is the $4/person corkage fee; if you don't want byob, just say it. They serve their own, so not a big deal.“

“Mesaku Sushi offers fast, reliable take-out service with excellent sushi options. I ordered the Maki Tray A, which includes 2 spicy tuna rolls, 2 California rolls, and 2 fire rolls—a total of 52 pieces.
The quality of the sushi was impressive, with fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations. The spicy tuna had just the right kick, and the fire roll added an exciting element. Service was efficient, making it an ideal option for a quick meal.
I highly recommend Mesaku Sushi for anyone looking for convenient and delicious sushi on the go. A great experience overall.“

My father is especially particular about his sushi rice, and it was perfect for him. For the price of this sushi, it is definitely reasonable. I recommend this sushi restaurant to everyone. “I went for happy hour.. delicious seaweed salad and both big sushi rolls were very fresh and delicious & sake. The wait staff were super friendly, attentive. The waiter even explained why they serve both Italian food and sushi! I appreciated that. I saw some of their non sushi items other people ordered and all of them looked really good, perhaps I'll be back for some pasta or chicken parm! I'll be back either way!“

“We were really excited to check out a new sushi place in our neighborhood, but honestly it was fine. We sat at the bar and ordered a few appetizers during happy hour. The miso soup was excellent! However, I think the bartender forgot about us for almost a half hour before we could order the rest of our meal. And we were one of 3 couples at the bar.
The fish itself was good (not bad), but I was underwhelmed. We paid 20 dollars for a maki rolls that was essentially shrimp tempera with a little salmon on top.“

“Parking: There is a parking garage directly under the restaurant, taking the elevator up brings you right next to the patio. There were plenty of parking spots.
Wheelchair accessibility: The two sets of doors into the restaurant are not automatic, but the restaurant is very wheelchair accessible otherwise, and parking in the garage below, you're able to take an elevator up easily.“

“Last evening at Kyōten was enchanted. The bar seats eight people. And there is only a single seating per night at 6:30. The base price on a Friday/weekend is $490 + tax, and my bill was $557 with one delicious sake.
Chef Otto Phan is Vietnamese-American, and he’s obsessed with Japanese ingredients and flavors. He doesn’t do anything that steps afoul of Japanese traditions, but he’s also not constrained by them. Phan is a wunderkind with close relationships built with mentors and purveyors in Tokyo, who he visits twice annually and texts daily. Like an investor on the phone with a trader on the exchange floor, the fish traders on the floor of Tokyo’s bustling fish markets text Phan daily updates about what looks extraordinary, and so Phan’s menu is seasonal, based on the market’s best daily offering, and features only wild-caught fish. This, and the fact that Phan personally prepares every bite dispelled my concern that the cost of dinner was gratuitous. After dining and understanding the premium Phan pays for his ingredients, the cost makes sense.
Everything tasted delicious. There was one course I couldn’t eat, monkfish liver, but I did have the slightest nibble and it was buttery, mild, and delicious, and I loved its ginger teriyaki bath. As a wildlife disease epidemiology researcher, I’m essentially a parasitologist. And once I interact with a research specimen in the field, my ability to eat a clean version of that thing raw in the future is done. It’s why raw proteins are nearly impossible for me in general. I put my rules and prejudices aside and ate course after course of Phan’s transportingly delicious fish painted with sauces, glistening, sliced, pinched, sometimes packed over delicious rice, and often concealing a poultice of wasabi, citrus zest, horseradish, ginger, or other complementary aromatics taking each bite to the next level. Some courses I enjoyed with my eyes closed to focus on the flavors, not caring that I may have looked weird. The two tempura courses, lobster with its roe, and beltfish, were my favorites.
Another protein that I generally don’t enjoy raw is beef. Phan’s wagyu nigiri looks extremely rare, but it spends four hours in the sous vide and its fats and juices melt in your mouth. My enjoyment of this wagyu was in contrast to wagyu I was served last week at a different restaurant’s tasting menu where a nearly fist-sized rose-shaped wad of too much wagyu to serve in one bite made me channel my inner Khaleesi as I imagined myself as Daenerys Targaryen trying to choke down a whole horse heart. Phan’s wagyu course, like all of his courses, I truly enjoyed.
Phan is an artist, and watching his passion and giftedness was thrilling. His hands squeezing the rice or shaping the fish and the gleam in his eyes made me think of the Japanese aesthetic principle of wabi-sabi, which embraces imperfection, transience, and connection to nature. Here is this beautiful young chef in his absolute prime, with extraordinary fish that he instructs you to eat the moment he places it on your plate not waiting for the diner next to you to receive theirs, and we’re tasting the fruits of our oceans, which are in a race against time both literally with a short window on their peak freshness, and also figuratively as our oceans are warming.
I fell in love last night.“

“Over the years, Indie Cafe has been amazingly kind and thoughtful in their service, and their food preparations and presentations always go above and beyond all of my expectations. From quadruple-checking whether or not a menu item is gluten-free, to recommending the best wine/sake pairings for an entrée, their staff have always ensured that I've left their restaurant knowing that I was appreciated as a customer. And welcomed as a friend. Maya is hands-down one of the most excellent servers I've had the pleasure of dining with. She always goes above and beyond with her level of professionalism and attention, and her personality is lovely as well! Given the quality of their sashimi, the creativity behind their menu, and the warmth in their hearts? I look forward to dining with them for many years to come.“

“The food is amazing! Love the all you can eat setup where they bring you your broth, meat and seafood then you go to the buffet tables and get all the veggies, noodles, and sauces you want. This way you don't have to commit to a large quantity of just a few vegetables. I like it because I don't like mushrooms but my partner loves them so he can get a many as he wants and I can get extra lotus root instead. This is our new favorite place to get hotpot and we will definitely be back to try all the different broths, meats and seafood.“

“Hello, this place is really awesome! I went here with my parents for about 5 times and it haven't disappointed me. I really like the Sake Maki salmon sushi, because there's no cheese in them. In the cafeteria there were lots of beautiful Japanese style decorations, which made the restaurant atmospheric! The staff were really nice and patient. In one word: Perfect! P.S. Sorry if I have any mistakes in this review, I'm from Russia and I speak english a little bad.“
