“Pleasantly surprised. I didn't do any research ahead of time, and just took a chance. Wow the sushi roll was out of this world. Crunchy prawn, seared wagyu, and trout caviar. The ramen with pork belly topped that even. It's all about the broth and wow, deep rich taste that I could smell how it would taste before I tasted it. Everyone in my party loved it, and said it was unique, and we go to a lot of ramen spots. Well done!“
“This place was clean, warm, and friendly. I ordered rare steak phó. No one seems to actually serve it rare anymore, though. I used to love it when the meat came to the table in a place raw and separate from the broth. Perhaps it's different in different places. The broth was bland, like it hadn't had a chance to simmer long enough for the spices to meld. It's a popular place, though. As I sat there, more and more families arrived to fill this place up. So maybe I'll give this place a try. There is nothing like finding YOUR Phó spot that you can rely on for *really - good - pho*. I'll be back to try again.“
“Kura is the first ever Revolving Sushi Bar in Skokie/Evanston area. Decided to come here with friends to enjoy some sushi.your order. Best part is if you don't find what you want on the belt, you can order it on the screen and the order is They have a fun revolving belt which delivers delivered on the belt. There is a moving robot that is fun to watch which brings you water and drinks order. They have main entree, soups, sushi and desserts to choose from. It is a fun experience to see food going around, feels like somewhere else like Japan or Singapore.“
“I love the menu's variety and freshness of the offerings. Our "go to" items are garlic eggplant and also the crispy shrimp with lemon sauce. Perfection. Spiced cabbage is mildly addictive Staff is always pleasant. Trying to order consistently during the pandemic, but am looking forward to being able to visit safely in person. 5 stars!“
“Have been here multiple times and it has been amazing every time, it is 100% my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is stunning. Consistently have great service and amazing servers. Will visit every chance I get while in the city. :)“
“Not an extensive menu, but the fish was fresh and excellent. Cool trendy vibe, a bit pricier than probably needed, but I'd go again for the 5 Star sashimi quality. I gave it a solid 4 due to its lack of interesting rolls or other bits.“
“The best omakase restaurant in the entire city. There is an immense focus on how the fish is prepared and where it is sourced vs loading it with toppings to elevate the quality which is common among other omakase restaurants in the city. Jorge our chef was extremely knowledgeable and friendly making the experience interactive and intimate. The ambience is amazing with a staggered service and only two rounds of service a night, so it’s never too loud and a great spot to bring a significant other. Could not say enough amazing things about Kyoten Next Door, will absolutely be coming back, worth every penny.“
“Aji is an absolutely tremendous omakase experience. True to concept, every element of the presentation has been thoughtfully composed - not just in each delicious plate, but also the ambience, the drink menu, and the restaurant itself. Chef Rick puts a remarkable amount of thought and care into the curation of the menu, and every bite has a harmony of beautiful flavors and textures. I'm absolutely going back, and I've already told all my friends to check it out.“
“Q Sushi absolutely lives up to the reviews. The atmosphere is cute, not stuffy or pretentious, and very welcoming. The service was phenomenal. Really personable, friendly staff. We did the omakase menu and everything was fantastic and we were SO full by the end. 5 stars all around.“
“I've eaten my way around 40 countries + 48 US states and this is easily one of the most intimate, unique, and realest dining experiences I've had in my life.My partner booked a secret res for my birthday and when we rocked up, I was surprised when the team greeted me by name and spoke to me like a group of friends that were 'checking in' and 'gassing me up' at a celebratory dinner. Later, I was told that she filled out an 'intake' style form letting the team know of birthday, and recent accomplishments. I know... Different. Lol. Love that. The O.G. style Omakase Experience in an industrial speak-easy space with a mini-counter seating only ten. The ambience, hospitality, F&B menu, conversation, everything was M☆.Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee's creation took our palats through a rollercoaster of emotions. If talent is only as real as the people behind the wheel, and an idea is only as special as the person who executes it at its highest level, then Chef Naomi's talent and authenticity is nothing short of un-fu*kingreal, for real.We came strangers and left as friends – Brian; you're a real one. Chef Hannah, Chef Andy, and Alex on bar; y'all are craaazy! Thanks for the memories. Cheers, y'all – Braa + Ronnie“
“Food was mostly good, but very overpriced. Did not feel like the quality was top notch for being one of the best outposts for fresh sushi from Japan. The hand rolls were all somewhat soggy, the nori was not that crisp sheet you expect from a hand roll. Probably would not come back unless begged to.“
“Got the 60-min Bougie Experience (17-courses for $100) - the sushi was fresh and delicious! Only con is that the nigiris served were pretty small and we were still hungry at the end and ordered a bunch of a la carte items after.Get the a la carte Big Mac (Toro + Scallop + Uni) - absolutely scrumptious!Absolutely beautiful restauraunt, perfect for dates.“
“We stopped in here while waiting for our daughter to deliver her baby at NW Hospital near by. We were seated at a great table with out reservations! The food was amazing and the service was even better. Great atmosphere and so welcoming! Baby came about 3 hours after we left the restaurant? We plan on making it an annual dinner celebration on her birthday ?“
“Absolutely incredible place!! It's definitely the best sushi and Thai on the north side of Chicago. We usually go to Hot Wok Cool Sushi or other places further into the city. -Not after today! This place was fantastic. The service was great - they were so friendly. And the food and presentation was phenomenal. It blew away any place that we went to before. It's the first place that all 4 members of my family agreed was awesome. We will definitely be back soon!“
“Really good sushi! Super fresh rolls with beautiful presentation. The Black Sea roll was just okay but wasn't anything super special. The Breaking Bad roll was so amazing. Really good combination of flavors. We got it without the asparagus. The River Walk was good and packed full of fish but wasn't as good as the Breaking Bad roll. Service was great and such a fun atmosphere. I'll definitely be back here soon to try more of their Jumbo Rolls“
“Awesome veggie maki rolls. I’m usually very hesitant to try new places because I love my regular spot but I’m so glad I did. The lunch special prices are amazing. Cant recommend enough.Update: if I could eat here every day, I would. One of my new favorite restaurants in the entire city.“
“Great service paired with very affordable sushi options for the size of the portions, and you can't go wrong with a sake flight!I hope more people come here, we came on a Thursday and we were the only people in there at 8p which was sad given how good everything was.Our server was so nice and all of the food came out quickly.Apps:-We started with the Wings and Gyoza and both were fineSushi:-We did the windy city and Hi Jack and we loved both of them and the rolls were huge!Drinks:-$25 for Sake flight is great! We will def come back but I hope more people start to support them.“
“A quaint little omakase experience tucked in a corner of a hotel. I had the bougie experience and it was well worth the price. The cocktails were amazing and the sake pairings were on point. If I had to make any complaint it would be that the event space didn't have any foot rests on the baseboards of the bar. Overall a very enjoyable experience, me and my wife will definitely be coming back.“
“holy schmokes! this was an absolute treat! Norwegian crab legs are extremely rare && pricey, but it was soooo worth it. Chris was soo knowledgeable and beyond attentive. he really made our experience memorable! I loved the history, atmosphere, food and service. it is pricey but you won't regret it.money WELL SPENT!I'll definitely be back when I come back to visit.tuna tartare- FRESH, bright pink/red deliciousness.oysters- 1/2 dozen 2-2-2Norwegian crab legs - 1.25 lbs fresh and juicymushrooms- I loved the almonds. gave nice texture.drinks: bees knees && prosecco.dessert: little of everything. no wrong answer.“
“Overall the taste of all the ingredients is very good and well seasoned. They also has some toppings less commonly seen like shredded beets and bean sprouts! The place is very clean and they also weigh the noodles/rice to ensure evenness. The only con I would say is that the scoops of fish are on the small side so I would recommend 5 scoops over 3 for an adult. Also you get more fish if you choose the fish that already have spicy sauce, like spicy tuna, as opposed to plain fish, like plain salmon, due to the scoop shape. The seaweed salad topping and masago are both $1 extra which a minor point off“
“This was an amazing experience! The only negative is the seating it was too tight and you are seated by 2 other couple’s that you do not know. Especially with covid I believe we were too close for comfort and a bit irresponsible on the restaurants part. When I booked the Date night package I was under the impression that it would only be 2 of us in the suite. I believe it was deceptive practices because you were not made aware before hand that you would share the suit with 2 other couples. Also, they poured 3 sakes and didn’t say that was extra. The way it was presented it leads you to believe that was part of the meal and then you get billed for sake a total of 50.00 for the sake flight. I read that you do get a cocktail flight included in the price and any additional drinks that you order you will get charged, well we did not order the sake they just poured it so why not tell us before you pour it that this will be extra. It was just deceptive in my opinion. The food was excellent so I have only good things to say about the food experience!“
“I'd wanted to come to a place like this for a while. Saw places like it online but didn't know there was one in Chicago. Went with my daughter and had a great time. Friendly service, really great sushi options, and grabbing your own plate is just so fun. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.“
“Lawrence fish market always hits the spot. I don’t think I’d ever get tired of them! I don’t know how many times I’ve ordered from them before, but I’ve definitely ordered 6+ times. My man and I always get some kind of Maki tray and some extra rolls. 10/10, so worth it. It’s cash only btw!!“
“Recently tried Sushi Hall and loved it. Such a cool new spot in Lincoln park with a speakeasy bar. Really like the colors and vibes of this place . The service is also quick and the staff is friendly. The food was a 10/10. Unforgettable taste, impeccable craftsmanship, and a symphony of freshness await you at Sushi Hall. This is probably my FAVORITE spot I've been to recently. It has an outdoor patio too, making it the perfect spot for SUMMER. We tried the Hamachi on the Hall, The Friends Night Out, The Moulton, Gyoza, and Togarashi Fries. Each dish was so flavorful and the portion sizes were good too. Hamachi on the hall was my absolute favorite. I will definitely be back to try other things on their menu.“
“Very generous portions. Excellent atmosphere. Profesional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Delicious combination. Waiting outside can be a bit overwhelming as the main restaurant is usually very busy but that’s usually only 10-15 minutes and then you’re taken to a nice and quite lounge waiting area.“
“We had dinner here before seeing a show nearby. It's pretty low brow in terms of service / ambiance but the sushi was really fantastic! we had the Red Monster & pop cracker rolls. Really yummy! You have to be in the mood for BYOB, sometimes you really want a nice crafty martini shaken for you but in this case it was perfect for our group. I'm really excited to have a new option other than our usual place. We have ordered take out since we dined in last month and it's been great. Def recommend.“
“One of the best sushi restaurants I tried so far!! We order the all you can eat menu. The appetizers are so varied and tasty! The signature rolls are beyond tasty! We were four adults and two kids and they were able to accommodate us. We waited for some time wasn’t too long though. We also joined the waitlist on yelp. So the total wait time was around an hour. We repeated some appetizers for sure!! Also the motchi ice cream was so good. Will visit again for sure.“
“AMAZING food! Service was also top notch - friendly and attentive. Owners told stories about the food and sought out feedback from us on what to improve. They have their customers in mind and is reflective in their food. Everything we ordered was phenomenal!! Highly recommend!“
“I've been looking forward to this place opening ever since the building was getting remodeled and it was announced what the building would become. Have visited multiple times and each time the service and food quality were consistent. The food value is very good, though the specialty cocktail pricing adds up quick (but is on-par for the area). Staff has been friendly and knowledgeable.“
“This was my first time here and the food was overall good I think the all you can eat is definitely worth it. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. It was very loud the day I went the were tables put together for a big party that had kids at it and it was really annoying and not very enjoyable to be there with all the noise. Food: chicken karaage was my least favorite I wasn't a fan of the batter and the texture/flavor was not what I expected. I really enjoyed my sushi rolls and the ramen was good for the most part it was basic and I added some additives (fish cakes (upcharge to add), corn and bean sprouts)“
“Fantastic spot for a delicious and enjoyable Japanese meal ?!!!Ekiben was a wonderful dining experience! From the moment I walked in.... the atmosphere was cosy and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering recommendations on the menu.I had the salmon teriyaki don. It tasted so fresh and flavorful. The ingredients were perfectly cooked and delightful ?.While the food was delicious, I'm also very optimistic that they will continue to innovate and introduce exciting new dishes in the future. ? For example, chef's choice section on the menu where they can showcase their culinary creativity, or loyalty program to reward frequent customers would be excellent (hopefully I don't ask them too much?)I truly enjoyed my experience at Ekiben, and I will definitely revisit and try another dish ?.“
“The absolute best sushi I've had anywhere. Not only is the sushi fresh, hence the name, but the chef is a true master of his craft. The owner and staff couldn't be more genuine as they provide the most welcoming atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try, especially if you are unsure about sushi. This place will have you hooked within the first bite.“
“The food was absolutely AMAZING. But the SERVICE!! Was top notch! We are sushi lovers and when I saw this place in TikTok I begged my husband to go. And let me tell u.. it did not disappoint! Every single thing we ate was DELICIOUS. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Definitely adding this place to the roster!“
“In my view, Ora is far and away the best sushi spot in Chicago, and among the best restaurants period. The quality of the fish and the attention to detail in preparation are outstanding. On top of that, they've got great service, reasonable prices, and it's BYOB. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot, you won't be disappointed!“
“Loved my experience at Gorilla Sushi with my two girlfriends. We ordered the spicy miso soup, edamame, and several of the rolls. Our server was T, and she was so kind and helpful. Our favorites were the Mexican, the spicy tuna, the Godzilla roll, and the volcano roll. Thank you T and staff for providing us 6 plates of ginger also!“
“If I could give this place 10 stars I would! This place is incredible, from the food, to the service, and the ambiance, absolutely amazing! I travel from New York just to come eat their sushi. As we entered Haru, we were greeted very delightful! The server was very attentive and made sure to provide me with descriptions of each sushi. She described in detail about all the special rolls they had on their menu. My favorite is the Logan! I cannot express how delicious their miso soup is as well! Thank you Haru Sushi for an absolutely amazing experience! Cannot wait to travel back! The best sushi I have ever tried, and cannot express the freshness of the fish!“
“Nuki Sushi serves some of the best sushi in Chicago. It's totally fresh, offers an amazingly large and original selection of sushi, sashimi, maki and other dishes. If that weren't enough, the service is superb, prices are incredibly reasonable, and it's BYOB. It is a real gem.“
“I went in because I was craving affordable sushi and wanted to try a new place. To my surprise no sushi offered at this time :( Oh well. I was suggested the lunch special. It was a good deal and was fresh. General Tso's Chicken- The chicken was juicy with a nice crisp breading. The sauce was tangy, sweet and spicy! Yum :) The rice had a really good onion flavor with the right wok char. Not greasy and will leave you feeling good and satisfied. As for the location I found free street parking across the street. The place was quiet and clean.“
“I called ahead on a Tuesday for their dinner reservations, we were told they weren't busy that night so we went ahead and made the one hour drive just for their sushi and their great reviews. We had the best experience and their sushi was truly top notch. We basically ordered everything on the menu from sushi, caviar to desserts and drinks. they did not disappoint, customer service was superb. The owner even came outside to attend us, he showed up with his own bottle of sake. I truly appreciate the great experience we had at this beautiful and clean restaurant. I have nothing bad to say, the food was high quality and extremely delicious. I definitely recommend this location, even if you have kids which I did. We left so happy and satisfied, loved it.“
“Well worth every penny. If you have any reservations about visiting this placed based on its number of reviews (20 at the time of my posting this), please dispel those. If I could give this Omakase Experience a rating higher than 5 ⭐️’s I would. With some of the most interesting, different, and inventive flavor combinations & textural differences I’ve ever had (not just in a nigiri ? but ever). Me & my wife were nothing short of completely blown away by everything.Everyone knows the 5 tastes that we can detect (?????, ?????, ????, ??????, & ?????). Most Omakase Experiences focus on the Salty, Sour, & Umami notes the heaviest. Sushi | Bar gives you the full experience with some amazing Sweet notes as well as some soft Bitter notes on some of the rolls to accentuate the other core flavors.Dietary restrictions: My wife has a food borne allergy to some shellfish (shrimp ?, oyster , crab ?, lobster ) and was shown great care and attention and offered supplemental proteins in lieu of her allergens when they arose in a course.Parking: • There is no shortage of street parking available in all directions (which comes in handy when you have an oversized vehicle like myself).• There is countless paid lots nearby including the Trump Tower as well as several other enclosed lots all within a 4 block radius.“
“I always recommend it for the variety, assortment and prices. The best offers. In food without competition.Vegetarian options: For every taste.Dietary restrictions: Choice. There's a lot.Parking: Spacious and comfortable...Kid-friendliness: YeahWheelchair accessibility: Very good“
“Absolutely my favorite sushi place on the planet. It is always my go-to sushi place for sushi night. I don’t live close but travel when I can! Just started a new job downtown and have a feeling I’ll be stopping by more often on my way home.“
“Our waiter Kong was so attentive and very helpful with choices from the menu since this was our first time eating at this restaurant. The sushi was amazing! We had the Crab Wontons, Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, the Lobster fried rice, Rock N Roll, Spice Girl, and the Spicy Cowboy rolls. The atmosphere, staff, and food will definitely have us coming back when we are in town!“
“The sushi was surprising, innovative and delicious! Sake flight was a highlight. Seating was comfy and our waitress was super nice. It could have been a tad darker in there in terms of lighting.Would recommend trying a classic maki as well as one of the four-piece sashimi options. (I was skeptical of fish wrapped around fruit, but after one bite I was a believer ? I was also a fan of the pickled onion and scallion in the maki) Our favorite signature was the red dragon.“
“Ordered from them for some quick lunch. Prices were unbeatable, and the quality of food was incredible. Really can tell a lot about sushi just from the rice, and the rice was spot on. Would highly recommend giving them your business. They are take-out only at this time though. Thank you so much for a delicious lunch!“
“Had a fantastic time with my teenager, my brother, and brother in law. We all lived our food. The Dynamite was DYNAMITE tasting!! The Ramen bowls were huge and so yummy! Our server was lovely and atmosphere was cool. They served cans of soda with glasses of ice, but we were happy to have fresh pop. It was all very affordable and I can't wait to go back!“
“What a great place! I can recommend it for celebrations, date or just sit by the bar and enjoy great food and drinks. We’ve been in this place many times and never disappointed. Great selection of delicious drinks, I always get their Old Fashioned.Food:You can tell everything is fresh and high quality, I always like to get oysters because they have delicious ones. You must try oyster shot it’s worth every single penny. Besides that great appetizers like fried Gyoza or spicy edamame. You won’t be regretting taking their sushi rolls either.Highly recommend!Parking: You can go to underground parking lot that is free of charge and you can access that parking from Summit ave“
“Not bad! Food and service were both good, nothing to complain about but not amazing. We got beef skewers and scallop skewers and they were a little tough and chewy. We enjoyed the sushi more, the fish was fresh, although the rice tasted slightly cold/refrigerated, which I don’t love. We had the tuna on chip appetiser which was probably our favorite since the tuna was so fresh.“
“I never really think much of the service and atmosphere ratings here on Google reviews but both at Kai Zan truly were top notch. As a birthday gift, my brother took me to try omakase for the first time, and it was a very cool food experience. Seeing the chefs and waiters and hosts do their thing was like watching a performance. I watched as the staff meticulously reset the table for the next people - everything perfectly placed down to the centimeter. The way they’re able to time everything is incredible too.My favorite of the courses was the very first and the shooters - very unique. The others were good but I appreciated the creativity of those. Very beautiful dishes and we were seated at the bar so we had a front row seat to watching the chefs cook (highly recommend). We also ordered the yuzu cheesecake and ube pound cake (unlisted) for dessert. At the end I wasn’t stuffed but I was content. A really great first omakase experience!“
“A Culinary Masterpiece: Exquisite Beef WellingtonI recently had the pleasure of experiencing the epitome of culinary excellence at shallots. Words can hardly encapsulate the divine delight that was their Beef Wellington. As a seasoned food enthusiast, I've traversed the (kosher) gastronomic landscape far and wide, yet never have I encountered a dish as sublime as this. From the moment the plate graced our table, it was evident that this was no ordinary Beef Wellington. The golden-brown pastry shell, flawlessly crimped and glistening, hinted at the delectable treasure hidden within.Upon slicing through the delicate crust, I was met with a succulent medley of flavors. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef, perfectly cooked to medium-rare perfection, nestled amidst a symphony of earthy mushrooms and rich, aromatic duxelles. Each bite was a harmonious fusion of textures and tastes, leaving me utterly spellbound. But what truly elevated this Beef Wellington to legendary status was the chef's meticulous attention to detail. Every component was executed with precision and finesse, culminating in a culinary masterpiece that transcended mere sustenance. As I savored each exquisite morsel, I couldn't help but marvel at the chef's ingenuity and dedication. This was not just a meal; it was an experience—an unforgettable journey through the realms of taste and indulgence. To the chef behind this culinary triumph, I extend my sincerest gratitude. You have not only created the best Beef Wellington I've ever had the pleasure of tasting, but you have also crafted one of the top five dishes I've ever been served. Tonight, you should go home with your head held high, knowing that you have left an indelible mark on my palate and heart alike.“
