They have a daily happy hour which was awesome, we got mussels and cocktail shrimp for a really good price. It is very family friendly, they were very kind to our toddler. The best thing we ate there among many good things was the apple galette dessert, it was amazing.“

“Gather is simply my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Every dish is incredible: the ricotta-honey spread and buttery toast, citrus cured salmon with fried egg, carmelized brussels sprouts with aioli...and that's before you even get to the entrees. Truth be told, I've never actually made it to dessert here because I'm already so stuffed from everything else.The decor is classy but comfortable; you'll dine by candlelight with a list of appealing cocktails ready to hand. If you're lucky, you can sit with a direct view of the kitchen where you can watch the magic happen.Incredible spot--if this place ever closes, you can rest assured that I will weep bitter tears for it. Everything was wonderful… the food was excellent (crazy delicious lemon raspberry brioche French toast), attentive service, and very reasonable prices. “I was always resistant to trying bar food but my son loves going there with his friends so, I had to give it a try and to my surprise, the food was absolutely amazing. I used to only order the sample platter, steak sandwich and chicken wings but last night I tried their steak fajitas and it was surprisingly spectacular. Their margarita didn't taste as authentic as the food made by authentic Mexicans. However the manager was kind enough to offer me an amazing old fashioned and the bartender nailed it making my experience even more special. I'm not a fan of dive bars but they make you feel very welcome definitely turning into one of my regular places to go!“

I enjoyed both the Irish band music and the Trinity Children Dancers. The food was right on point! Authentic Irish corn beef/cabbage. “Took the family out for Sunday breakfast and we were excited to visit this spot. I was looking forward to the Llpingacho Benedict, which I was so curious about. The flavor was very good and unique with the potato cakes and grilled tomatoes. Surprisingly, the most tasty item we had were the pancakes. My son ordered the oreo pancakes and I had a bite of it. I was floored by the rich taste and texture of the pancakes. I'd return just for those. Before ending this post, I cannot forget to mention that they have outstanding service and hospitality. “First and foremost, the staff of any restaurant are the ones that truly keep an establishment running and thriving and are the heart and representation of the business.The hostess / order-taker and crew at Stacked and Folded, were super friendly to us and offered such great customer service!The atmosphere inside is very nice and offers an elevated casyal food experience.Even though the average taco is around $6.50, it is very large and offers a lot of the actual ingredients. This was the case with my short rib taco. The short rib taco did offer a little bit of that spicy hot but not too much which was good, and yes, was slightly sweet in the sauce as advertised. Overall, the flavor combination was very good and would rate it a 3.9 out of 5. It was just tender and juicy enough, but could even be a little bit more tender in the meat. I know it is not easy when it comes to short ribs and believe me they did a good job here! It is worth getting!We had also ordered the short rib sandwich, but I recommend to have the short rib in the taco form. It just taste even better with the corn tortillas!The sweet potato fries are a five out of five star! Some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They are cooked perfection, and have that right texture on the outside and perfect on the inside. Amazing.Now as a cook, my (James’) critique is focused on the shrimp taco. Like every other item, Katherine and I had, the shrimp taco is made in a very fresh and flavorful, non-greasy and healthy tasting manner.What observations and what can be worked on from the creators of the menu is the following:The shrimp in your shrimp tacos-at least when we visited—was just plain cooked shrimp and was actually dry. My advice based on the best shrimp tacos I have ever encountered or made are taking thawed raw shrimp, then marinate them of course, and grill them briefly and just right so that they come out juicy and tender and with that amazing flavor profile.That would make your shrimp tacos a five out of five.“

However, there are two rooms where we were in one of them, and the sound of music and laughing and stuff carries from one room to another, interfering with speakers and conversations. The service was very pleasant but this night the kitchen service was quite slow, so not the best there.From the menu's standpoint, it's hard to pin down but I feel like I get a strong french brasserie influence with a couple of quirky but fun dishes like escargots and steak tartare, although most of the menu does not necessarily go with that theme. Also, bear in mind that the menu changes from time to time, which I think is great but which might throw off the creatures of habit out there.I had steak tartare for appetizer. It was fantastic. I had the braised pork shoulder for dinner, which I thought was good. My table mates had burgers, which they said they enjoyed. We also had the Caesar salad. It is a very simple deconstructed version. It was good.I almost forgot. The cocktails were good. I had a cocktail with beet juice. I know that sounds weird, right?! But, it was great! Sorry, I don't recall the name.I'd recommend this place for repeat visits to try what they have on offer between the different iterations on the menu.“
