We were personally greeted and served by proprietor Anluan McKinney who took great care of us and told us about the pub’s history. The food and drinks were wonderful and the pub was clean, comfortable, and authentic. It may be my favorite Irish pub in the US.“

Starting from the first day that we went to see The Elm we were treated with the upmost respect and professionalism. We had our ceremony in the Kensington room, and our reception in the Madison room. The atmosphere and vibe of both rooms was everything that we could hope for. The staff was incredible, the food/drinks were AMAZING, and our guests had nothing but positive feedback. “Food is amazing. Small space inside which is quite loud when it is full which is often. We had a reservation, but when we arrived all the tables were full, so we had to wait. They have sidewalk seating, which is a cute little area with some shade, but along busy Lake street. I returned here several times over the past few months, particularly for the food. “

As someone who loves coffee, I still don't understand how their coffee tastes so good. Their plain, black coffee and Americanos taste out of this world. Some of the best coffee if not the best I've ever had. The food is always fresh, tastes/seems made to order, and again the coffee is amazing. A friend who doesn't drink caffeine loves their decaf, and as someone who doesn't drink decaf, even I like their decaf.“

“Everything was decent, easy parking in the garage , good atmosphere but when we ordered the nachos appetizer it was brought to us on a scorching HOT aluminum plate without any warning, we nearly burned our fingers just trying to move it, hopefully an isolated case!“

Cannot believe the reviews about small portions - the plates I tried were all perfectly portioned for two diners to share. My main dish, a duck breast, was over-portioned if anything. The service was very attentive and they offered thoughtful touches like the option to order a half size plate of bread. I did find the all-male staff (both front and back of house) a little odd.“

We even got a complimentary meal from the Executive Chef so he didn’t waste the plate after taking pictures of his new special. To say the food was amazing is an understatement. If your down in the Chicago area or willing to make the trip, it’s definitely worth it“

“I love Standard Market's Seeded Rye Bread! It is one of the best rye breads to be found anywhere in the west suburbs. Unfortunately the last two loaves I bought are so very , very salty? I do bake bread myself (not as good as Standard Market's) I am aware of the role of salt, sugar etc. and their proportions, so why this extremely salty version ?“
