“I tried out Sahara Palace last week for the first time. Immediately upon walking in, I was greeted by the owner. He was so friendly and made conversation right away. He also took the time to recommend different menu items based on your likings. The food was excellent and service was great. I highly recommend and will be coming back. I had the Chicken Shawarma Plate. Many of the items looked delicious that other customers in the restaurant had as well.“

Server was there a couple min later and she was great. Believe her name was Kendra. We got our drinks. Smoked old fashioned was good, a little sweeter than I make them but still good. The fries with truffle salt were wonderful. The pizza was fantastic. A nice change from the usual Midwest flat crust or deep dish. Crust was delicious, and fresh mozzarella. It's a 12 in pizza, I probably could have eaten it all but I was left with 2 slices and my wife ate half of hers. Made for a delicious breakfast the next morning.“

“This place is gorgeous inside. It differs from other hibachi in that they cook in this order: meat, then veggie, then fried rice. Not all at once. They also set up each hibachi table per party. This seems terribly inefficient and not as profitable for the chef. We had a party of 3 and then they seated a party of 2 directly across from us at the other table.
Taste wise we preferred their soup and salad than at other hibachi restaurants. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp (the appetizer shrimp are larger than the entree shrimp..why?) But the white tuna and chicken were pretty great!“

“I was told that Gerry’s Pizza is amazing. Well it really isn’t. We tried it yesterday for the first time. We asked for a very thin crust and while it was thin it wasn’t more so than any other thin crust. The sauce lacked flavor. It was at best bland. We asked for extra sausage & cheese. If what they gave us was extra I’d hate to see what regular cheese & sausage consisted of. The bigger letdown was the “Fresh Calamari.” This wasn’t fresh! It was straight from the freezer bag to the deep fryer. Breading was very institutional from a place like Gordon Food Service. The person that took my order over the phone and got my food for me was very nice. You get one chance to make a first impression. Gerry’s food fell far short.“

“Saturday 6/11 we ordered $96 worth of food at the East State location. Went to pick it up and the owner asked what we needed. We stated we order food and gave her our name. She was lscrambling and said she doesn’t have an order for us. We ordered it online and she found it. She gave us 3 bags. We wanted to open them to make sure everything was there. She said “ I personally bagged the order, it’s all there,” in a sarcastic tone. Okay since she’s the owner we took her word for it. Got home and we’re missing 4 items. Called her to credit the debit card and she said she couldn’t but can give us a gift card for the amount. Food was hot, quality was pretty good. But honestly I won’t ever go back. For being the owner, and a local restaurant she was not friendly and didn’t even Thank us when we left. She needs training on how to greet and thank her customers. Paninos…STEP UP YOUR GAME!“

“Wide variety of good food including Omelettes, skillets, pancakes, crepes, etc. they are one of the most expensive in Rockford area but by far the best tasting with very large serving sizes. They recently purchased all new dining furniture to spruce the place up and make good use of the space.“
